View Full Version : Fallout: New Vegas
I had no idea the new Fallout was coming out so soon (October 19th). Who is planning on picking it up?

Pre-ordered it from Best Buy earlier this morning for in store pickup on the 19th (which is my bday too!). This will be my first Fallout game, so I hope the franchise lives up to the hype.

I'll be getting it. It looks like the awesomeness of Fallout 3 mixed with the setting of original Fallout/Fallout 2.
I was planning on picking this up when I go home for the weekend, but I'm leaning toward Starcraft 2 now... hmm...

At the beggining of the game when the townsfolk tell you not to go north, and theres signs that say "keep out! stop!", dont go north. :p

Now you're just putting more oil on the fire. MUST GO NORTH!!!!!!!
He did this last time with the teddy bear as well. Bastard.

Adam, what was north? :ohreilly:
I've sort of been strictly not exploring a lot, and just doing quests in the area you start off in. I decided Primm's fate, and have just been to the Outpost - and I'm level 5 or 6 or something like that.
I want to get a quick playthrough done before I re-do it on Hardcore mode.
I also took the "low light vision" perk, and I sort of wish I hadn't, now. Because now night time isn't really a threat, or any type of big deal.

A bunch of death was north, a barely made it down the road before I was murdered by some crazy insects. It taught me a lesson though, later on when I came across a sign that said "Warning! Deathclaws ahead." I turned around and high tailed it out of there. Ill get my revenge though!
And ive been doing nothing but exploring.
I made it to Primm by accident and did some stuff there but then I went wandering off again.
Ill be doing Hardcore mode as well, but id rather explore around first, maybe find some places that would really help me out in Hardcore. That and id like to see which weapons kick the most ass. I chose explosives as my main weapon path, and while im loving dynamite, its hard to kill an enemy with anything else, maybe when I find better weapons it will pay off.

Level 11 right now and am now making my way towards new Vegas after securing Boulder. Also have most side stories completed, and just added two partners to my party, making traversing the Mojave that much easier. Liking the game a lot thus far. It's totally thrown me off my daily schedule.
Whats the deal with Snow Globes? I know they're supposed to be collected, but for what?

I have absolutely no idea. I only have 1 of them, but I assume it's for someone in Vegas.
I also agree that having companions is super good. You can practically carry an unlimited amount of shit if you just give all of the super heavy stuff to the companions, since they don't have a weight limit.

Contemplating getting this for PC. Means I could play it sooner

So I beat the game last night, and [I never beat 3, so I don't know what it did at the end of it] I really liked at the end how it gives you a 'cinematic' about how all of your specific decisions effected the future of New Vegas. That sort of has me pumped to go start another game right now, and play it differently.

Well it kind of did it in 3, but when the DLC came out that extended the main story it made a lot of the choices you made near the end of the game irrelevant.

It just struck me as irrelevant, because I was aware they did it in the first two - as I played and beat them, but considering I did not beat 3 - I was not aware if they continued that in it or not.
And since I didn't beat 3, yet having played and beaten the previous 2 on the PC, I was happily surprised when it ended with the update, considering - not beating 3 - while playing the previous 2 - I did not know if they kept up with it or not.
I beat 1, 2 and NV. Not 3. Was not aware.
I knew they did it in the first 2.
Just not in 3.
I am also aware that 3 is included in the Fallout franchise, as it is titled "Fallout 3".

Just finished it. Really liked the montage, no way I'm replaying the game though. The glitches took a lot of fun out of it, and having to restart my system got annoying. Overall, glad I got it though, worth the money.
