the under advertised, full color screen with backlight, almighty game gear

or the ruling tyrant of the era known as Game boy and Game boy color (which still doesn't have color IMO)

Game Gear...Without Question. I loved that thing...just as long as you had a rechargeable battery pack for it, it was a great handheld with some great games. If you didnt have a battery pack, I pity you. :shakehead

I would have to say Game Boy/Game Boy Color. Pokemon was the initial reason why I ever decided to own a handheld. Plus there were a few other geat games on GB/GBC. So I'll have to go with it. Although, keep in mind, I never played Game Gear much.

GBC has the biggest Killer App... but Game Gear had the better overall selection imo.

Hm I went with DMG/CGB because I don't know any games for the Gear beside Sonic. :p

Let the analogy-analysis begin.

Game Gear... Game Boy. The true difference between the two lies in the words "Gear" and "Boy". Game is simply a shared attribute... the fact that the two play "games".

Boy - A young male. In games, he can be seen as a potential hero... or an annoying spectator over your shoulder.

Gear - Either the heart of a mechanism... or in gaming terms, a large Mech used for military or otherwise destructive means (i.e. Metal Gear or Xenogear).

Conclusion: Gears trounce little boys.

okay, so though I prefer the the control and set up of the gamegear, I own a GB, so I felt that I had to vote for the own I own and that I know more people who own.

both cool though... GG's just BETTER

I had a game gear. They ruled. If only there was a bit more advertising SEGA could still be in the running today for the next-gen consoles.

Go Sega Nomad :sneaky:

I didn't have any of the 'classic' handhelds... But I couldn't stand the black and white (or yellow or whatever) graphics of the old Gameboy... ugh...

It was Tetris all the way baby...!
I remember receiving my original GB for Christmas back 12 or so years ago. Man I played the hell outta some Tetris back then.
The Game Gear's hardware was far superior to the GB's, but Sega's advertising team sucked.
Plus Nintendo had all the titles...to name a few:
*MarioLand 1&2
*Metroid 2
*all 4 Final Fantasy's
*TMNT
*all the Castlevania's
*Some damn good GB rpg's like 'Sword Of Hope'

I'm sorry but even though Nintendo's GameBoy was far lacking against SEGA's Game Gear in what it had to offer, I'm still an old school GB player.
:)
