Also, I thought Anton Chigur was overhyped. He was just your run iof the mill psychopath character with severe features and a odd haircut. Ledger's Joker is FAR superior IMO. |
Re: Last movies you saw
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is awesome. I really liked the silent section of my film history class. Those were some good days before the damn talkies took over.

I saw Tropic Thunder today as well. I thought it was pretty good. It's definitely a great concept for a movie and overall I enjoyed it. I don't always like Jack Black, but I liked him here. Bonus: Justin Theroux who is a alum from my college had screenwriting, story, and executive producer credits...

Collateral. 7/10.

Super High Me.
Those snack bars looked rather tasty. |

I found it to be way too boring (friends did also) and took too long to get to the super high part after abstaining from it for 30 days and even then, it became a letdown. Super Size Me was interesting at least :p |
Re: Last movies you saw
Saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
Pretty good. Liked it a lot. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams...
Guess that movie. :) (I had already seen it earlier.) |
Re: Last movies you saw
Saw 21 last night. Not amazing, but glad I saw it. Didn't follow the book too closely, but it's a movie, it needs action.

In real-life, the card counting genius was an asian. In the movie, an asian is the just the goofy, incompetent sidekick. |
Re: Last movies you saw
The book was written as non-fiction, and I've never seen it disputed. In fact, it's the only reason they are on the map.
The movie is only "inspired" by the true-story. |
Re: Last movies you saw
The Langoliers. Just as great as when I was a kid. I'll give it a 7 because the 2nd half didn't have half the atmosphere/suspense that the first one had.
Btw it's an 2h45m miniseries. |
Re: Last movies you saw
JFK. 7/10. Intruiging. I can imagine it's an 8/10 movie if you're American.
Definately, Maybe. 7/10. Romantic comedy with a nice twist. A girl asks her dad how he and her (divorcing) mother met... He starts the story but doesn't tell which of his 3 girlfriends is her mother, she has to find out herself. Three cute women by the way. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I always thought Definately, Maybe looked kind of twisted.
He basically is telling her three chicks he nailed and saying...guess who! |

But of course the rest is a bit immoral. Still a cute movie though. Reminds me of the girls in my life. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I saw Burn After Reading today. Wow, that was a bad movie. I can't remember the last movie I saw that was so bad.
Brad Pitt's performance was perhaps the one redeeming quality of the film. I wish I had seen Shia LeBouf's latest vehicle, Eagle Eye, instead. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I caught up on Park Chan-wook's vengeance trilogy after seeing Oldboy when it first came out. That's still my favorite of the three followed by Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.
I also saw his latest movie, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, which I really enjoyed. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I saw Speed Racer
The film makes great use of colors, but picture perfect definition of style over substance. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I watched I <3 Huckabees in the van yesterday. I enjoyed it. Very strange and interesting script but they pulled it off fairly well.

Re: Last movies you saw
Did it inspire the Spinto Band to write a new song? :) Btw, how much more of England before you get your little break?

Re: Last movies you saw
I saw Enchanted, and no matter how questionable it may be for me to watch. It really was an awesome movie.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. 7/10
Has nothing to do with Final Fantasy, but who cares. It really reminded me of the Metroid Prime Trilogy, with the corrupting meteor and all. Even the graphics sometimes were alike. |

Re: Last movies you saw
At least the games have the turn/time-based battles, some magic, random battles, etc.
It just didn't feel like FF. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Maybe if the male characters were more feminine looking..
|
Re: Last movies you saw
Man, I would love to see a movie with turn based battles
|
Re: Last movies you saw
Speed Racer. The screen transitions made the movie. Made me want an F-Zero movie. HATED the little kid.

Re: Last movies you saw
Some Like it Hot - Good comedy. Jack Lemon was great and Marilyn Monroe, in this movie, just fucking hot.
Seven Year Itch - Another Monroe flick that I really enjoyed. Tom Ewell did a good job. Mind Game - Trippy anime that some might not like...i liked it. Wild art Into the Wild - it was ok, a bit drab Le Samourai (1967) - Kind of like the professional. worth the watch Notorious - Ok hitchcock White Heat - James Cagney carries it. The Killing - I saw this a while ago. Kubrick made a great film. Lawrence of Arabia - Can't believe I hadn't seen this until last night. Loved it. I'm downloading a bunch of Peter O'Toole films now. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Taxi Driver. Great movie. My how the city has changed.
|
Re: Last movies you saw
The Marx Brothers' Duck Soup - good comedy from 1933
What's New Pussycat - Woody Allen's first original screenplay. Stars Peter O'toole. silly sixties comedy, oh and it has Peter Sellers. Rebel Without a Cause - Crazy story turns, james dean is super cool. Believe it or not but it's the first James Dean film I've seen. I have East of Eden on my harddrive. 88 minutes - Pacino. Kinda sucked. Du Rififi Chez Les Hommes - French heist movie from 1955. Good stuff. Cowboy Bebop: The Movie - 2001 anime that I'm sure a lot of you have seen. I liked it. The live movie adaption is supposedly gonna star Keannu....which shouldn't be. |
Re: Last movies you saw
