After viewing those, I feel proud to say that my sig was made entirely in Paint.

well now that would depend on who made the skull and what program was used. if that skull was done in photoshop, you cant say your sig was entirly done in paint anymore. ;)

and GM, i'll look for the script.

And thank you Fox for the warm reward.

I made a Avatar for you Jonbo... because everyone thinks that the face you use of Stacy looks scary.... I got some nice shots of Stacy and even tricked out the avatar as well...

hmmm, I'll put that one up also and get other peoples opinions. If its not working out, I'll switch back

I still can't figure out how the face image in my current/in waiting avatar looks scary/manly to others

I have a new avatar.

Do you think I should make the border one more pixel larger?

I have worked out two variations of the last sig I posted. Which do you guys like better?

I blended the render more, and made the bar translucent.

Grunge:

Grunge art is very played out and it's everywhere. I'd go with the smoother one.

Also I have my new avatar to show you guys.... he's a really famous person! LOL...

Is that you? heh

My avatar is not me...and he really is a famous person. It's Albert Camus, the author of novels such as "The Plague" and "The Stranger". I have a very "strange" theme going on right now.

And the reason I made the grunge background was because I felt, and some of my designer friends felt, that it matched Stranger's character more.

yea i was kinda thinkin the same thing. But im at work at the moment and without my collection of nifity fonts. lol. gunna play with it a bit more when i get home.

On a side note, it seems to be that if i save a transparent pic in a PNG format instead of GIF, the transparent edges are much smoother then in the GIF format.. never thought of trying PNG before. heh.

MuGen 03-10-2005 02:03 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

hahaha.... PNG Is like the ORIGINAL transparent image producer.... GIFs only good for transparent animations.... when the image is constantly moving.

Got translucent? Get PNG...

yea. and the odd thing is i knew that. but for some reason it just never struck me as using it for transparency on a message board.

MuGen 03-10-2005 02:09 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

usually because PNG isn't thought of as a used format.

I'm seeing a lot PNG website layouts now, lately.... but I never used to see 'em before.

It's catching on..... plus with a PNG you can go 16bit with 2 trillion colors....better than GIF and jpeg you say? YEAH

Null 03-10-2005 02:12 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

well that is part of it. long ago, the only time i'd EVER see a PNG file is when i was using Linux. so it does kinda stick in my mind that whenever i see or hear of a PNG file, i think of linux.

Null 03-10-2005 02:49 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

hmmmmmm.... needs more tweaking. gunna have to think about this one for a bit. feels like its missing something in the middle. and dont like that text much either...

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

Interesting information:

Quote:

The GIF file format has allowed portions of images to be transparent, allowing them to appear to have a shape that is not rectangular. However, the GIF method was considered to be rather poor because it only allowed individual pixels to be fully transparent or fully opaque. The PNG format improves upon this by also supporting an 8-bit alpha channel, so pixels in an image can have partial transparency. However, it took a long time for web browsers to fully support transparency, and some, notably Internet Explorer (for Windows), still do not.

IE sucks. :) i says screw em, i dont care if IE users can view them correctly or not. they look nice and smooth with transparent in a good web browser.

Yes, IE sucks.

And Null, that latest sig of yours is lacking. :(

The middle is very empty, and the background looks boring.

Blackmane 03-10-2005 09:50 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

I agree. It doesn't have that special...bam, you know?

Thats it! Put an explosion in the middle! That will give it some flare!

Or you could just put a flare in the middle.

i know. browns never been a color i like to use. i love the plane, but everything else just feels so so on it. been tinkering around with a couple other things tho. i came across that plane and i was at work. so decided to play around with it a bit.

Null 03-11-2005 07:40 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

ah well. i quit with that for a bit. gunna tweak around with this one a bit more. Might be a bit too green for me tho..

Vampyr 03-11-2005 07:43 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

Heh, I've seen that render used a bajillion times. ;)

I think it is too green. You can't see a lot of details in the background, which kind of makes it boring. The render doesn't seem to be blended very well either, and the sig is too long, it's past the forum constraints.

I don't think it needs to be that long anyway. There is a lot of nothing in it.

But since you aren't done tweaking, I'll wait to see what turns up.

Null 03-11-2005 07:47 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

Gunna keep it up while i play around with it.

not past the forum 'constraints' tho, always been 500 long, one would say yours is a bit too tall tho. hehehe

But yea. i plan on filling it in. if not shortening, it by 50 to 100. i wanted a nightelf person, but cant find any good ones.

the green im still thinkin about. i have a couple other really nice looking ones (not related to this one) but it seems all my favorites always turn out to be in the blue range. tryin to put some other colors in and less blue.

I like to keep half or over half of my sigs with the background showing, AT LEAST. Because if the render dominates, than where is the artists touch? But then again, if it's too long it gets boring, unless you have a really awesome bg.

Null 03-11-2005 08:02 PM

Re: Signiture & Avatar Display

a bit old there. but none the less. anything over 100 (unless transparent and only part is up over 100) looks much too bulky, tall rectangles never look that great.

but your right about the background showing. some of my favs are jsut a background with no renders at all. a stylish border and a nice background goes a LONG way.
