Re: Team Fortress 2
oh, they updated. 163.69 is now the default for vista. no longer beta.
so you can find those the normal way. |
Re: Team Fortress 2
Well I played it at home, it works fine on my home PC running a Radeon X800 GTO
Fairly fun, although I always get my ass kicked in these multiplayer games... Oh and Null, about this Nvidia drivers...you say that you can now download them the "normal" way. Well I go to Nividias webpage, click download drivers, and there is no selection listed for Geforce Go drivers...there is one cateregory called "Geforce Go 7800/7900 laptops" but thats not what I have, I have a 7600. If I click Geforce 7 series, and go to the supported cards, my card is not listed. |
Re: Team Fortress 2

Re: Team Fortress 2
You might check the Everex website then (or whoever makes your notebook). I have a Dell laptop, and I am required to go to Dell's website for any driver updates, even though I have a Radeon 9700 in there.

Re: Team Fortress 2
Hey your right, never even thought of that, ive never had to do that before. We will see if it works though.
EDIT: Well I installed the updated drivers, but it didnt fix my problem. Based on the error that comes up with the crash, I think its a DirectX problem, but I re-installed directX and that didnt fix it either. And I tried all the fixes that were on the Steam page. Im stumped. |
Re: Team Fortress 2

Re: Team Fortress 2
oh blissful bliss, how TF2 rocks socks
I maintain that TFC is the best Capture the Flag game ever made. It had so much depth and personality... So far I'm pretty impressed with TF2. It definitely is more balanced and conservative than TFC. Taking the grenades out really changes the style of gameplay: you can't get 3 instant kills unless you are a Demoman. Sniping is much slower and laid back. Initially I did not like the new sniping style, however after hammering out a few rounds on Dustbowl I've changed my mind. The full charge isn't necessary to kill Scouts or Snipers or Engineers if you get headshots. Rocket jumping seems ten times easier in TF2 than it was in TFC, and you can still grenade jump as a Demoman. The Pyro is just as annoying as he was in TFC, although without fire rockets you really are limited to close range. I still haven't got the hang of the Spy yet, although the few times I've made a successful flank have been very fun. It just seems that every time I get behind enemy lines I want to start blowing stuff up with grenades...that I don't have. Overall, TF2 seems much more tactical and teambased than TFC was. The Medics are the class that appears to have had the biggest overhaul, no longer is the Medic an offensive unit. I already miss grenade jumping with the Scouts and Medic, but I'm sure I'll find other things to love about them in TF2. The Engineer looks pretty solid, but I need to be in a lazy mood to build sentrys and play defense. The Scout is fast as ever, and the baseball bat is surprisingly efficient considering how novel it looks. The graphics are fantabulous. They really hit this one dead on. Now I hope the community develops their own deviations and mods for TF2, and I expect to be playing this game for a lonnggg time. But, I still also plan to drop into TFC every once in a while as long as their are people playing. |

But I digress. I wanted to comment on your "I want to start blowing stuff up with grenades". By stuff, I'm guessing you mean sentries and other Engi stuff, at least for the most part. Maybe you already figured this out, but it took me awhile to figure out how to use the Spy's number 2 weapon, the energy sapper or whatever. Now that I have figured it out, I think the Spy is the strongest weapon against engineer sentries. I love disguising as an enemy engineer when the other team has a whole load of them, and then placing that energy sapper on every sentry while they scramble around trying to fix them and figure out what's going on. Then I'll sit back for several minutes and yell for an enemy medic to come heal me hahaha... So yeah, just wanted to say, if you're looking to blow up some engineer shiz, then the spy's energy sapper thing is where it's at. Most importantly, you don't lose your disguise using it. |
