they're a part of the effect, allright...a bad part of the effect. I mean, why not have nice textures on that tree or on the grass?

Those look much more impressive to me than the Zelda pics...and ZOE2 in video form? WOW

and Jason is right...some of those textures are...bleh:

Take a look at the tree and the grass...

Now I'm not saying this game isn't pretty, because I've seen some of those boss batles with the lighting and everything...they're sweet...but I best game ever is far from the truth IMO

Yer but that is a bit of an unfair comparison.

Comparing to robots at war shooting each other, with a kid running around in a field......all in cel shaded form.

That works unfairly in Zelda's favour...

So you can't call one a better looking game than the other because they're different kinds of games? Since Zelda is just 'a kid running around in a field' it can't be compared with other games?

If I were to say that Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best looking game ever, and someone shows me, say, Twisted Metal Black (obviously the better looking of the two) all I can say is "not a fair comparison...one is a car combat game from hell while the other is a plumber running around colorful worlds" and he has no arguement? Bah

See what I'm getting at?

I still hate that look anyway...but it is zelda...

I think the best Zelda games were the overhead ones.

is ZOE2 cell shaded? If yes, is it completely cell shaded?

If its not, then its not at all a fair comparison.

well i dont know if they are part of the effect, i just thought they might be.

1. i thought cell shading was aposed to textures? as in instead of using textures they use cell shades. so they're like totally differnt things. maybe not. doesnt really matter anyway.

couple things to note. (i'll just refer to them as textures. if they are or arent)

It isnt so much that the textures are better on ZOE, is that the things there are more detailed by design that they put the textures on. Zelda (things like Link) arent as detailed to begin with. so it looks much more plain (cuz it is)

2nd. i cant say this for sure. But BASED on past games of both series. Zelda worlds are a whole lot bigger. and prolly for zelda you have to look at the Whole instead of just parts.

Now i dont mind the cell shaded look. some of it looks VERY nice. But i wish they coulda designed the characters a little more like how they were before. like........

Take Dark Cloud for example. it was normal more realistic look as we'll say OOT was for zelda.
Now Dark Cloud 2 is also cell shaded (at least the Characters are. not sure if the whole game is), but now thier characters look are much more nicer looking. still cell shaded. but more anime look to them.

Dark Cloud 2

Note how thoes characters just look much more likable.

if they had done zelda with more of that look and cell shaded. id of LOVED the look.

dont get me wrong. im sure i will love this game. and i Do love the cell shaded look on this Zelda. expecially when it gets to some of the effects. i just wish they coulda looked a somewhat more (whats the word here?) realisically cell shaded?
