......Uh...no.

If it comes out in july, they've got like a month. Trust me that's about as good as it's going to get.

Here's the thing though. No matter how much links kicks MG's ass in the graphics department, the deciding factor for me will be how the game swings. If it uses that lame ass analouge swing, I'm not buying it. It had better be Tap..............Tap....................Tap.

funny, xbox fans are the ones always saying how you cant compare such to such. but then comes in and tries to compare graphics from a game that tries to look like a cartoon to a game that tries to look real. how are you compareing games that dont want to look like each other?

Did I ever say I was comparing them?

No.

Did I simply post screenshots from another golfing game?

Yes.

Null 05-14-2003 09:33 PM

lol. BS ;)

GameMaster 05-14-2003 09:40 PM

Even for a cartoon style game, it's still disappointing IMO.

Null 05-14-2003 09:43 PM

well. dissapointing it may be. IMO it looks better then what is probably its competition. hotshots or outlaw golf.

gekko 05-14-2003 09:58 PM

Mario Golf looks great. Don't see why anyone would be complaining.

One Winged Angel 05-14-2003 11:55 PM

This is a better screen of a shot. The one of Peach just wasn't that good

When you're all lined-up and ready for a shot, the controls take a much improved turn for the better. Now we've got some choices to make on how best to smack the lumpy little ball, and they offer a bit of gameplay depth that we're happy to enjoy. Toadstool Tour uses the standard sliding bar method like so many golf games before it, but the key to a great shot is more in the choice of buttons pressed than just the typical timing routine (which also remains a factor). Hitting the A button fills the meter from right to left, and if no other buttons are pressed, then you'll see Wario wind up and relax as if only taking a practice swing -- in his case, a very angry practice swing.
As the meter fills, players can choose to hit one of two buttons to mark the strength (i.e. distance) of their shot. The A button can be used by beginners or just lazy players in general who don't want to bother with the game's more refined shot controls, as using it will firmly stop the meter in place without worry of stopping it a second time. But real men (and real women) use the B button to stop their meters. This will mark its peak and send it sliding back to the right for the all-important second alignment stop that determines hook and slice. You can use B again to stop it's descent, or if you're a real man (or real woman), then you'll quickly press a two-button combination of choice using A and B to pick your desired ball spin: A-A for topspin, B-B for backspin, A-B for super topspin, or B-A for super backspin. This lets players choose to punch their shots straight through the air or loft them high for straight drops to the turf. The emphasis placed on the B button definitely requires some mental conditioning to keep from hitting the default, fat A button when stopping the meter, but like anything, it's easily learnable, and we definitely appreciate the depth of the two-button system.

Mario Golf is the best golfer ever, period.

New screens, Superior hardware:

2 year old screens, Inferior hardware:

Not to mention that even though they're realistic, the screens Bond posted are MUCH more impressive...stop using the old excuse "it's cartoony, you can't compare them".

The Duggler 05-15-2003 11:18 AM

Look Stu, it's a Mario game in a mario world. The trees are meant to be like that, they don't have leafs, it's the way it's supposed to look. Gamecube hardware is not exploited to it's max and it's normal. You can't excpect better than that.

so because it's a Mario game and because the trees are meant to look like that it means I have to be impressed? please...you have to do better than that. but nevermind, I'll agree to disagree.

Null 05-15-2003 11:33 AM

actually stu. i still think mario golf looks better then thoes hotshots golf pics you posted.... suppose its a matter of preference, but i like the colorfullness
