My damn nerves were shot (especially when the US got the powerplay and Hull almost scored) and then I finally could calm down after Sakic scored, but man that was one great game!

Well two of the many reasons I didn't want the US to win were so that pompous jackass the US' hockey team calls a coach wouldn't get it this time and so they could trash their own damn country's Olympic Village rooms this time when they lose ;) so :p. And if Gretzky's standing up for his country is wrong, I don't want to know what's right.

Edit : Oh yeah. One last thing I forgot to mention. To all the people who said Canada wouldn't win gold, I have just one word for you....

WHAT?

:D

well i dont particularly like that coach either.

Another reason i wanted Canada to win.... would be because winning would mean Jack **** to the US. lol. seriously. the US would of been like cool. we won a gold in hockey *shrugs, * goes on with normal life* this seems to mean something to canada, so they should have it.

For my personally i take the NHL much more seriously :)

But as for gretsky. im not just talking about all the whinning he's been doing during the olympics. which is not just sticking up for his country. he was whinning because he lost. and he whined more and acted like a poor sport whenever something bad happened.

He has ALWAYS been a whiner. i've never liked him. he's WAY WAY WAYYYY over rated. Considered the best every.... laff my ass he is. Mario would of skated circles around him.

I just never liked the guy, he pisses me off. :P

Like Chris said, you just don't understand Canada and hockey.

Go up and down Young Street was amazing! Everybody was pumped up, even 4 hours after the game finished!

nWoCHRISnWo 02-25-2002 07:56 PM

Teachers in three of my classes today asked who didn't watch the hockey game yesterday. Between all three classes (more than 60 people) ONE girl didn't, because she was at work.

If Canada had the population of USA, that game would have killed the Super Bowl.

True that. Has there been any word on the total amount of viewers yet?

I heard something on the US news this morning about it, but I was half asleep *yawns*

Null 02-26-2002 05:26 PM

they said something bout viewers in the papers.. i dont remember the number.

But for the US. it was the most watched HOCKEY game since 1980 (incudes NHL, olympic, IHL, anything)

For Canada, It was the most watched TV program EVER. period.

nWoCHRISnWo 02-26-2002 06:44 PM

What Null said... 8.7 million viewers in Canada and at least 38 million people watched the game at one time or another.

Joeiss 02-26-2002 08:36 PM

Wow.. Those are some huge numbers. I think that Women's game, got 6.8 million viewers. This is big numbers, although I thought it was going to be over 10.

Gamer 02-26-2002 11:19 PM

Yay, for hockey, and Canada!
