Isn't there a non-nuclear bomb test treaty? And isn't the US part of it? I'm quite sure the US no longer tests nuclear weapons, though I could be wrong.

They did test nukes but I think that was in the forties and fifties, They know they work.

The united states hasn't tested a nuclear weapon since September 1992. Atmospheric tests are now banned by international law.

Some may remember back in the summer of 1998 India and Pakistan both conducted underground nuclear tests.

It's a dangerous technology that I would prefer that no one in the world has. However, everybody now is too scared of what will happen if they get rid of them. It's like two kids on a playground who have each stolen something from each other. "You give me my hat and then I'll give you the ball back." "No, you give me the ball and then I'll give you your hat." No trust.

Well, nuclear energy also provides electricity. As long as there's nuclear power, there will be nuclear weapons.

It's okay. I'm confident that the Bush administration can pull out some faulty intelligence report citing some sort of Al Qaeda plot against the US and the terror alert will be raised and we'll be all like, "OMFG, it's orange, WTF do we do." That'll keep us busy and paranoid for a bit.
