The graphics are gorgeous.... absolutely beautiful.

It's too bad the controller looks really awkward and uncomfortable. I can't judge until I put my hands around it, but why the hell are the prongs so long? That seems pointless...

if it had built in tilt, would make a good steering wheel. hehe

That controller still throws me off. I still can't believe that's the controller. If anyone had shown me that picture last week I would have bet a million dollars that it was fake, simply based on the controller design.

Re: Sony's Conference

Well does say design is subject to change without notice.

DarrenMcLeod 05-16-2005 09:24 PM

Re: Sony's Conference

Yeah, I'm hoping that they shorten the prongs down. I also wonder how the shoulder buttons work, as they look awkward.

Finally, I'm hoping they put the analog pad in a better spot. Nintendo and Microsoft have it right... Analog in the prime position, not D-pad.

I notice that there is no memory card slots in the system, or at least none I can see. How is it supposed to be backwards compatible then?
Other then that I'm getting so excited.

Ooh. Getting fancy now with the angles.

How exactly does that lay flat when horizontal?

It has the bottom flat section like PS2.

Memory cards are wireless via Bluetooth.

have to beg to differ with you on that part, sony has been the one to have it in a perfect spot. i hope thats the one thing that certainly does NOT change.

I'm not a big fan of having the on/off button on the back, but everything else looks nice.

Re: Sony's Conference

thats just the main power, same as PS2. you turn it on and off from the front, but you can cut entire power, encluding the front switch off with the back switch.

from the video I'm watching right now, I can tell you right now that the PS3 is a LOT more powerful than anything I've seen from XBox 360 so far.

this eye toy demo I'm watching....let's just say

"you've gotta be f*cking kidding me"

this looks TOO good

streaming video is on Gamespot Live

you need a Gamespot Complete membership I think

the DMC4 trailer didn't blow me away, but a lot of games in that Demo mix look really awesome.

Re: Sony's Conference

If its an actual live thing (as in, happening right now) you have to have a Complete membership to watch it live, but you can see "reruns" afterwards for free...

GameSpot is cool like that.

ok that thread Crash made in the general games forum...."next next gen"....I just saw a realtime demo that actually looked MORE impressive than those still shots

DarrenMcLeod 05-16-2005 10:46 PM

Re: Sony's Conference

Killzone LOOKS awesome... but some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard. Listen for the "Oh my god!" and "Son of a bitch" when the guy is on fire. It sounds really awkward. Still looks great though.

Perfect Stu 05-16-2005 10:52 PM

Re: Sony's Conference

lol, the Fight Night video I saw is absolutely gorgeous...when the guy gets punched, his skin ripples on his face and the light reflects accordingly.

honestly, this is nuts

you can see emotion on their faces

fury, rage, confusion, surprise...

HOLY ****IN SHIZAT

Sony has some absolutely AMAZING screens of PS3 games on their PR site. Dear god I wish I could post these.

Re: Sony's Conference

DM, try to compare these shots to everything you've seen from XB360

if I had to make a comparison right now, the PS3 looks at LEAST 1.5 times as powerful as the XBox 360. I just cant believe my eyes...

HOLY F*CK I JUST SAW THE END OF YOUR POST

I knew it...

i just saw the video of thesony press confrence off of gamespot and wow. AN HOUR AND 50 MINUTES TO SEE THE THING AT THE END FOR LESS THAT TWO MINUTES, ok got that out of my system. And actually looking at the system from a real view and not a digital pic like i saw before. i now can saw the console looks hottttttttt. GJ Sony.

MuGen 05-17-2005 01:18 AM

Re: Sony's Conference

I just want to make it very clear and transparent that PS3 has totally own3d XBOX 360. The screens and demos I saw in the Sony Press Conference were absolutely vivid and outstanding.

You know... The guy who was demonstrating Fight Night was holding a wireless controller that resembled a PS2 controller with regular prongs. At the end of the 1:50:17 when they showed the PS3 console, they didn't show the controller, so you know that design is either a filler or a concept.

Seeing Xbox 360: ]]]]]]]]
Seeing PS3's Power: ]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]

No one can honestly disagree with me when I say the the graphical push the PS3 offers (a lot of the demos and footage were in-game play being played on the PS3 behind the box on the podium) CLEARLY AND WITHOUT A DOUBT is A LOT more powerful then the Xbox 360.
