Sounds like it's time to downgrade your wireless security to WEP.

Who cares if a 5 year old could hack it?

Good to see I am getting everyone back into Pokemon.

I had two new members to the clan caught a Gligar (first time I've seen the Pokemon) and named it after one of my HS friends.

Alslo caught a Ponyta which is the first fire PokeMon I've seen.

And it's the only one you'll see for a long, long time.

You won't run across another wild fire pokemon until you beat the game.

Also figured out why you were encountering Rotom - you can encounter him early in Platinum rather than having to get the national dex.

Cam, you could always do your battles at my house, and piggyback off my Wifi. same with you, Sean.

Hey, I just got back into it just because of these threads. I hope I'll finish it this time around (then maybe I'll finish The Phantom Hourglass as well :))

I would be down for some battles after I level up some more..

Nice girl gave me an Eevee, just don't know what to evolve it into now.
Also still haven't seen any other Pokeballs, maybe after my 3rd badge.

Both Glaceon and Leafeon are kinda bad, but they look sweet.

I was thinking of doing the fire one since don't find many fire Pokemon early in the game.

Anyhow, I completed the 3rd gym after going through two dark caves and rescuing some girl named Mira.

My team has changed just a bit
Prinplup at level 30
Luxio
Staravia
Machop
Gliscor
Hauner

Now make up the team. May switch out Haunter, not a huge fan of the ghost type.

Also had another run in with the rival who went down pretty fast.
I have one EXP Share that I've been using among the team to keep them pretty even. (In the range of 25-27 right now)

I just got the (forget the name) ancient Pokemon of Pearl, and 1 of the 3 mons that are in the lake caves. I battled another but I ran out of pokeballs and fled - I hope it shows up again, because I didn't save.

And the other lake-mon is constantly changing places on the goddamn map so I can't get it. Son of a bitch.

Also, Earl, totally do Flareon. The only fire pokemon I've come across so far is Ponyta.

I'm going for a Glaceon first (already have two eevee's from the Mansion).

Glaceon is awesome looking. :)

The smartest way to go in the DS games is to start with Chimchar since there are only two fire types in the whole game.

Well next time they need to make the fire starter an adorable Penguin... who also happens to be a water-type.

I don't even have an Evee.
How the hell can I get more than 1, let alone just 1?

You have to have the national dex for both of these methods. You can get it by seeing (don't have to capture) all 150 pokemon in the Sinnoh pokedex.

After you get the national dex, you go to Hearthome, and I believe you talk to the girl in the house next to the pokemon center. She will give you an eevee.

The other method requires that you go to the Pokemon Mansion (I think it is on the right on the path south of Hearthome).

Before you walk through the front door, save your game. Go inside, enter the first door on the right. Talk to the brown haired dude right inside the door. Answer him that 'yes' you are envious twice in a row. He will tell you of a rare pokemon he saw in the trophy garden. If he says eevee, great, you're ready to go. If not, turn off your DS, start back outside the mansion, and talk to him again. There are several other semi-rare pokemon you can catch there though, so eevee may not be the only one you want to get.

Once he tells you one, go back into the hallway, walk left, then north into the trophy garden. You now have a 5% chance of encountering an eevee. Keep walking around the garden until you find one. It helps to have a strong pokemon that knows false swipe (like Sneasel), so you can get it down to 1hp in 1 hit. It is at around level 18 - 20.

You can only get 1 a day like this. I believe it works this way:

1. Talk to the guy, he says there was an eevee.
2. You catch eevee, eevee is no longer in the garden.
3. you talk to him again, he says a different poke. You can now catch this one, but not eevee.
4. Once you catch this one, eevee is eligible to be in the garden again.

I havn't played with this a lot, there may be like a 24 hour limit for every 1 or 2 pokemon. So you may only be able to get an eevee every 2 days, just make sure you catch a rare one in between.

Ohhh, okay.
You need the national dex, that makes so much sense.
I forgot Earl had Platinum, so he started with the national dex, so when he told me he talked to some chick in the city right off the start of the game and got one - and I still can't, I got super confused.

Picked this up again recently.

Hadn't played in over a year so I had forgotten what to do. Just sort of started outside of a cave and not sure if I had finished it or not.

Turns out I didn't

People in this game are so nice, some dude just hands me a Porygon... no trade or anything... just offers him up... and who am I to turn him down.

No new badges, today was more of a training day. Took my Magikarp from level 4 to level 24 and he is now a badass Gyrados.

Well my team has been in a state of constant change these past few days. I added a few new Pokemon, but the largest addition is that I finally caught that Rotom in the Old Chateau!

So he is on my team along with Prinplup, Starvia, Luxio, Gyardos and Gliscor.
Went through the Solacean Ruins and found an Unown as well as HM Defog. Went through the Lost Tower as well.

About to do 4th gym battle, wish my team luck!

No clue how do you tell?

Well have my 4th badge, which may have mentioned.
And have seen just over a 100 pokemon which means my Pokedex is about 20% full now.
My Rotom is leveling up well. He is now a level 29 which puts him on par with most of my team outside of Gyardos who seems to be taking his sweet time.

Should I have like 2-3 really strong members and have the rest be back-up or should I really be leveling them up about equally?

Re: The Pokemon Journal

My name is STEPHAN. I am 10 years old and yesterday I finally got to pick my first Pokémon!

When I had to choose a ball, I actually thought Torchick was the cutest, but I went with Treecko. I've heard that Torchick turns into one of those ugly Pokémon. Oh and my brother will pick a Mudkip when he's 10. That will be in a few weeks, so we can train together!

May is nice I guess. I don't really get girls, but she seems to be looking for friends. Hey, when I'm around, why not? I do feel a big rivalry towards her though... in our first battle I used a potion to make sure I would win! So it's a mixed feeling.

I captured a few other Pokémon, but I don't plan on training all of them. They seem pretty weak. At the moment I'm only training Treecko, Wingull (he's so cute!) and Poochyena. I wonder if that will be enough to defeat the first gym leader...

Oh, my mom is calling me. I went home for the first night, I was homesick! I'm such a baby.

Angrist 05-09-2009 12:10 PM

Re: The Pokemon Journal

Wow, I love being a Pokémon trainer! I have caught about 20 of them so far. There are now 4 Pokémon I'm seriously training: Treecko, Wingull, Abra, Geodude. I'm holding back my Treecko's evolution so he'll learn Mega Drain at level 26. At the moment they're all around level 18.
I'm also training Poochyena and Nincada, just to get them evolved into the next stage. I hope it's soon, because they suck.

I've won 2 badges so far. The gym leaders were tougher than I expected. But I just leveled up the Pokémon that was strong against that type.

Oh, I traded a bunch of stuff with a trainer that wanted to quit. I got some of his rare Pokémon. After that we traded a bunch of items, that took so long!! Couldn't he just have given it to me instead of giving it to the PKMN we traded back and forth?
I did get a lot of useful stuff, like TMs and this really useful EXP. SHARE.

Seriously, starting out with an EXP. SHARE is bliss. When I get my own, I'll give my brother my old one.

Re: The Pokemon Journal

[Does anyone still read these?]

Today I have made fire. I mean, I have caught Kyogre. I didn't want to use my Master Ball for it, so it turned out to be a hell of a fight.

I decided to bring 3 pokémon I hardly trained, namely Oddish, Gloom and Cacnea. They were lvl 20-26, while Kyogre was 45, so it was dangerous.
  • I first brought his HP to 1/4 using Grovyle.
  • I switched to Altaria and sang Kyogre to sleep.
  • I put out Cacnea and used sand attack to lower the accuracy. I managed to pull off 4 attacks before Cacnea got creamed by Hydro Pump.
  • I sent out Oddish to put him to sleep. I tried to steal some HP by using acid, but it was way too slow.
  • Pelipper brought Kyogre to just like 4% HP. Then it KOd, got hit by an ice beam.
  • Oddish put it to sleep again.
  • I threw the first net ball [3x effective on water pkmn], but it broke free right before the end.
  • I decided not to damage him, but throw another ball right away. Tadaa! I caught Kyogre.

Now I can go to the 8th gym. :)

My dream team of Pokémon:
Grovyle lvl 41
Kadabra lvl 41
Geodude lvl 40
Charmander lvl 40
Altaria lvl 39
Pelipper lvl 41

I'm thinking about replacing Pelipper. No offense.

In other news: my brother also started his jolly journey! :) Last time I spoke him, he had 2 badges and was collecting pkmn quite enthusiastically!

Re: The Pokemon Journal

I just beat the Elite Four and the Champion. What a great last battle! His Pokémon were about 10 levels stronger than mine, but I managed with a couple of revives!

The last one standing, and therefore the one doing the final KO was Sceptile. My very first Pokémon, how epic.

They're all lvl 47 or 48 now.

Re: The Pokemon Journal

I need to pick up Diamond again.
I havent played since I lost to the champion of the final four.
So disheartening.

Is there a way to make money rather than fighting trainers or selling things?
I'm almost out of money and have no means to get more, really.

Angrist 06-01-2009 02:35 AM

Re: The Pokemon Journal

Best way of making money is not dying. Or I think they changed it in generation IV, you don't lose half your money anymore, right?

I've never had a lack of money, in any game.

Typhoid 06-01-2009 02:43 AM

Re: The Pokemon Journal

You lose half your money still.

Angrist 06-01-2009 02:54 AM

Re: The Pokemon Journal

Hm I really think I read that you now lose money based on which pokémon you were using last. Something like that. But it still could be a lot. :)

I'm currently working on a breeding chain to get Spheal Ice Beam without using a TM. And I'm going to train a Metagross, which should become mighty.
