Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Desean Jackson is the man. He's too much of a hot dog for my tastes, but I guess when you're that fast, it doesn't matter.
Also, Vick is back and he hasn't played or done all that much as expected. Haven't seen enough of him to really make a judgement, but he looked pretty good on his first 7 yeard run. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Oh, Favre, you magical man.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Why do the Vikings look like a decent team this year? Oh yeah...Adrian Peterson. :p
When did the NFC North become somewhat competitive? The Lions look like a decent team, it's about time they won a game. Also, if you are McNabb you have to be wondering about job security, right? And the Jets....woo. I'm looking forward to tonight's game. I hope the Cowboys go down. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
I think right now the Eagles have a mess on their hands in the QB position.
You have McNabb hurt but will be back soon. Kolb is playing very well, especially for an unseasoned youngster. Vick looks lackluster at best, but by collecting $5 million a year he's burning a hole in the bench. Lets not forget Garcia, but at least he knows to keep out of the picture as much as possible. If Kolb tanked, the situation would be even worse. So if McNabb comes back and plays poorly, what then? Honestly, signing Vick is a situation that has zero upside. It still blows my mind that it happened at all. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Signing Vick was purely a gamble. Though I don't think they really expected to ever have to rely on him for the team to win games.. But it looks like it may be the situation sometime down the line.
|
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
I don't think signing Vick was a gamble. We can debate if it was a poor decision, but I don't think it was a gamble. I don't think anyone expected Kolb to play as good as he is...if he keeps this up, well damn. And McNabb as good as he is (and I really like McNabb), he has sort of become a liability. I think Philly is considering their options for a future without McNabb. But I'm not from Philly so I don't know the inner workings of that organization. But yeah, signing Vick seemed like an effort to secure a possible Quarterback weapon in case said current Quarterback craps out.
The question is will Vick ever be as good as he was when he played for Atlanta? On a more serious note, Pittsburgh needs to step things up...1-2 is almost as unacceptable as the Titans going 0-3. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010

Also, Vick is only getting $1.6 million this year with a team option for $5.2 million next year. Vick's potential is a bargain for this year. If he doesn't look like he is making progress, then the Eagles don't pick up the option and let him go. I would still rather the Eagles not signed Vick, but if he just makes 2 or 3 big plays in the entire year that lead to some TDs, then for the price tag it was probably worth it. Plus, a big reason he was signed was because of Andy Reid's troubled sons, but that's a whole other story. |

I also masturbate to Bond's avatar.
I'm so conflicted...which team do I want to win? Which hick-douche do I want to root for? Rodgers? Favre? If the Pack wins we have a 3-way tie in the NFC North with Green Bay over Chicago...if the Vikings win they lead the NFC North at 4-0. They also have Peterson and they look like the best team in the division. The Vikings are the biggest threat to Chicago, and Chicago has to play them twice. I'll probably cheer for Green Bay but still be happy if they lose :D. This game is huge though. Biggest game of the year so far. I am SO pumped. I really am. I'm gonna make popcorn and drop all homework for Monday Night Football. The fate of the NFC North really hinges on this game. |

I've noticed that you only focus on the NFC North. I doubt that the Packers vs. Vikings game will be the biggest game of year. Also, wouldn't the Bears vs. Vikings games be bigger for you since you're a Bears fan, and those will be tough games? I guess I understand that you focus on the NFC North over everything else, since your team is in that division, but what about the rest of the league? The best teams in the NFL right now are the Giants, Saints, and Colts. The second tier would have to be the Vikings and the Broncos. The Broncos did get lucky against the Bengals, and they did a good job against the Cowboys, but the Browns and Raiders games were very easy, so I think we still have to see just how good they are once they play better teams. As for my team, the Eagles, I hope that McNabb will be back next week. The next three weeks for them should be easy. Bucs, Raiders, and Redskins, so I'm hoping that they'll be 5-1 at that point. After that the schedule gets tough with games against the Giants, Cowboys, Chargers, and the Bears. I won't go any further than that, but I just hope that they can compete with the Giants this year. Oh yeah, did anyone see that Chargers vs. Steelers game last night? When the Chargers started coming back, I was hoping for another Steelers loss, but it was too little too late. I was really prepared to post a youtube video of Schwarzenegger saying "GO CHARGERS GO". |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
That was a big win for the Patriots over the Ravens yesterday. Nice game to watch as well.
Tonight is Pack / Vikings. I'm nervous for the Packers, it could really go either way. Prediction: Watch for Charles Woodson to intercept a few Favre passes. |

The Bears vs. Vikings games will be huge...but lemme explain why I'm psyched.... Not only is this game insanely important for deciding who the dominant force is in the NFC North, this game is pitting Favre against his old team. And Favre is wearing a Vikings uniform! On a Monday night too. Given all the Favre-hype we had to listen to this summer, this game has been in the making since late July or early August. I realize other big news in the NFL is Vick on the Eagles and the Cutler/Orton trade...but I think the Faver thing was hyped the most. That said, will this remain the biggest game of the year? Obviously not. But don't hate me for getting sucked into the hype. :D Quote:
I'm liking the Ravens, Jets, Pats, Giants, 49ers and the Steelers. Quote:

I guess that I only mentioned the undefeated teams up there. I do agree with you regarding the Ravens, Jets, and Patriots. The 49ers do look good in the NFC West and it looks like they're going to dominate that division. I just hope that the Eagles stick in there with the Giants. Maybe once McNabb is back we'll get things going again. As for the Steelers, yes they're good, but it does seem like they have been giving away the 4th quarter to their opponents. They lost the Bengals and the Bears that way, and they almost gave up a huge lead to the Chargers. As of right now I think the contenders for each league are as follows: AFC East: Patriots and Jets AFC North: Ravens, and then the Bengals and Steelers are going to be tied for this second spot, but overall it seems like this division could be like the AFC East was last year. AFC South: Colts, and then maybe the Jaguars, but there probably won't be a wild card team from this division AFC West: Obviously this will be between the Broncos and the Chargers, and the Broncos have the advantage right now. NFC East: Giants and then the Eagles, and the Cowboys always pose a threat. NFC North: This one is tough, but it looks like the Vikings are leading it as of now, and the Packers and Bears are fighting for the second spot. NFC South: Saints and then the Falcons, who could probably get a wild card spot NFC West: 49ers, and probably the Cardinals next considering that they did so well last year, but we've yet to see much from them this year. Obviously I'm not picking the teams that are going to make the playoffs yet, but from the AFC it looks like the wild cards will be from the East and North, and from the NFC it also looks like the wild cards will be from the East and North, or maybe the South considering the Falcons, but who knows because it's way too early. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
I had tickets to the fucking Jets/Dolphins game next week on Monday, and I just found out that my teacher put up a test that day. Dammit all! My classes are at night that day, and I was gonna skip but not on a test day! :(

Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
That wasn't pass interference at the end of the 2nd quarter. The Packers should have had that interception, but I guess the offsides penalty allowed them to replay the down, so I guess it doesn't matter. It's been an interesting game so far.

This game makes me sick.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Packers just made too many mistakes, whether it was penalties or pass protection or dropped passes. Favre was better than I thought he still could be.
|
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Packers had too many dropped passes. Oh...and their O-Line needs some work. I know the Vikings have a great pass rush and great defense but still....
As for the Vikings...well, we will see. Favre threw some suspect passes in my opinion, and the Packers did a good job keeping Peterson contained. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
I'm really pumped for the Broncos vs. Patriots game. The undefeated Broncos have ex-Bears quarterback Kyle Orton who has yet to throw an INT this year. Pretty impressive if I must say. It should be an intense game or a total blowout in favor of the Pats. The Steelers will have been yelled at by Tomlin and I expect them to beat the Lions pretty easily. The Panthers vs. Redskins game should be close. The Giants and the Jaguars get freebies this week.
Sunday Night football should be good....look to see the Titans improve to 0-5. :p And I'm calling the Rams over the Minnesota Vikings. Should be a good week of football. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Rams over the Vikings? Isn't that a bit of a stretch? I guess if I was going to pick an upset, I'd go with the Browns over the Bills, because the Bills are technically a better team. There's also the Bengals vs. Ravens game, which should be good,
|
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
I'm waiting for Favre to have a bad day. It's gonna happen. And the 49ers have a solid offense and defense this year, at least from what I have seen. If they stop Peterson and they put pressure on Favre....well. We will see.
Anyway The Bills has become good drama. Is Dick Jouran gonna get fired? He's not a good coach. |

Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Well, KG, the Rams lost.
There were a bunch of blow outs today, so they're not really worth talking about. The teams that won those games were expected to. Anyway, some big games today were... Denver beating New England Atlanta killed San Franciscio, which was surprising. Cincinnati beat the Ravens in a really close game, to take the AFC North for now Arizona beat Houston right at the end of the game Kansas City ALMOST beat Dallas... Most amusing game...and sad as well Cleveland 6 Buffalo 3 |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
WTF Buffalo right? You gotta be worried if your name is Dick Jouran.
Anyway the Rams game was a total blowout...it looked like they were putting up a defensive front semi-early but they kept fumbling the ball. The Butterfinger Rams. That also sounds like sexual term. I was on NFL.com reading the Broncos game discussion...a lot of Broncos/Bears hate because of the Cutler thing. You know, I wish Orton the best and I will be rooting for Denver all the way (unless they play the Bears). Orton is a helluva guy, both in his work effort and his attitude. He has been playing intelligent football and making smart decisions. A few of his passes were questionable, but he manages the game very well and he throws a good slant. And any day when the Patriots lose is a good day for me. I'm a little worried about Atlanta...because I think the Bears play them next week. And it seems to me that even though Arizona and Dallas won, right now these two teams do not look like great Playoff contenders. Same goes to the Steelers...we will see how they shape up. I'm surprised the Jaguars got beaten so badly.... And how about McNabb! Damn! He's so good. That's why I'm a fan. I hope Philly is too. |

Crazy, I just found out today that a guy I went to highschool with got signed by the Panthers at the beginning of the pre-season, (Played in all 4 games) then released, and just got signed the other day to the BC Lions.
He was also the only Canadian selected to play in the 2009 Texas vs. The Nation Game. What have I done with my life.:ohreilly: |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Looks like the Vikings are flying away with a lead in the NFC North.
They still have games against the Bengals, Cardinals and Steelers but if the rest of the division doesn't start playing good football then I think this might be the Vikings' year. Also the Bears played football almost equally as bad as week 1 last night. Bleh. |

Hahah, yeah I saw that. I was like oh snap the Eagles fans must be cringing! I'm pumped for tonight's game....are the Broncos a fluke? At least 3 of their games have been won by one score or less in the 4th...I'm thinking they're like a 4-2 team with good Karma. But we will see.
Also, The Titans. LOL. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
Are the Titans still in the NFL?
|
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
I saw this while watching the Eagles game, and apparently it has been posted on youtube. It was pretty funny, but it would have been more amusing had it not been during such a dumb loss by the Eagles. |
Re: Official NFL Thread 2009-2010
I'm not sure what happened in Chicago today other than "it was a major meltdown." Needless to say both our O-line and D-line suck this year. And Benson managed to stay classy...he even gave thanks to Lovie. Benson was a Prima donna and problem in Chicago. I wish him the best luck, and keeping things classy, the minimum injuries required to end his career.
Fortunately the Steelers looked sharp today, and Denver is undefeated. At least I'll have someone to root for in the post season. |
