San d'Oria is the Kingdom of choice. All must bow down before its greatness.

Dylflon 08-25-2003 02:57 PM

I declare that when the time of game getting begins we will hold a grand vote!

Re: Re: FInal Fantasy XI

that means we will have peeps all across the spectrum... even if everybody is seperated it would be cool to all be on the same server.

As for my final decision regarding my race and job... Looks like I'm going to be a Warrior, then a White Mage, then a Paladin. I'm going to go ahead and make myself Hume.

As for Kingdom :)... well, whoever needs me to party up with them the most I will follow. I'm just a real defensive player. I would like to party with another white Mage... then completly offensive guys.

-EDIT-

We should decide how we want to mold the party completly... hopfully we can get every element at our desposal.

If we are all in seperate Kingdoms, you'll find it to be quite difficult for us to meet up soon. I know a person who has the PS2 beta and has been playing non stop since June, and hes only just left his kingdom. To further understand what I mean, check out the Vanadiel world map: http://www.shadow-dragons.com/vana'diel.htm

San d'Oria is furthest to the North, my kind of Kingdom. All you southern fools in Bastok and Windurst shall feel the wrath of the ancient San d'Orian black knights!

well, its sorta depending on tastes. Windurst is the more organic, magical kingdom with lots of beautiful scenary and such, home to the Tarutaru and the Mirtha. Bastok is an industrial town, built on economic structure. its more of a dirty, mining town, which is home to the Humes and Galka. San d'Oria is the more sophisticated and prestigious town, with the honourable Elvaan.

Bastok and San d'Oria share the old continent of Quon, and Windurst is on the smaller, sort of forgotten continent. In the middle is the border town, the Grand Duchy of Jeuno.

hmm, is the special ring you get for starting in the correct kingdom important? If so no way I'll start in Windurst

Dylflon 08-25-2003 07:31 PM

the ring isn't very good.

it's only okay.

you find better stuff easily.

Crono 08-25-2003 08:35 PM

Heh... Me and DarkMaster just had a discussion about the 3 places in FFXI. Windurst is like the "poor African country" of the World, Bastok is like the "America" of the world, while San'doria is the "Japan" of the world. Badically Windurst is just... uh.. I dont know how to explain it. But it's not really anything special. Bastok is supposed to be a nation of power. We (I say "we" because I have chosen Bastok) will rule the world with our technology and tons of cash because we are practically sitting on a gold mine. San'doria is supposed to be a place of intelligence, but hah! We'll see how smart they are when they're precious Kigndom is getting it's arse kicked!!! *evil laughter* They just think so are so good... The Republic Of Bastok, the foundation of power in FFXI will rule all!

Heh heh....

By the way, Rndm and I seem to be the only ones who are starting from Bastok.. anyone else is welcome to join us.

Dylflon 08-25-2003 08:51 PM

Well, I guess we're not all starting in the same kingdom. But with world passes, I'll make sure we're all on the same server.

Well..I'm gonna be Hume......... and I'm gonna be a Paladin (Light version of what you are)........ maybe, just maybe. (if you are my only friend to start there you better help me with my level mr PC head-start man)

I like things about all countries though... I think Bastok is the all around best, but I think it will be over-populated, and it will have the most casual gamers. While I think windurst is the worst by far on paper I think that more serious gamers will come there, and it will be uner populated so every person there will be of some value especially outside races... I could see them coming together like one big gang before any other country.

San'doria... is... well, Middle of the road in some sense... because of thier lack of variety, I think there power will come in pure numbers.

Crono 08-25-2003 09:21 PM

Re: Re: FInal Fantasy XI

Well, you don't need to be from Bastok if you're going to be a Hume. But, Rndm isn't gettign FFXi until the ps2 version, so if you're getting the pc one you can join me early on (if you're going to be from Bastok). And you're right... Bastok probably will end up with the most people. But that is a good thing... and I'd like to be a rare "smart person" in Bastok, if you know what I mean, heh.

And, instead of having one coutnry has the "hq" for the Gt thing... we could be scattered around and have several divisions of our "clan", like Bastok Division, Windurst Division, and San'doria Division.

I'm getting the Ps2 one... what I was saying was you may be a high level before I even come... so I would want to tag along for some of yor missions to level up quickly. :p

All those who oppose the mighty lands of San d'Oria shall receive nothing less than a most brutal death. You dare to strike us down, but you shall strike us no more, for let it be known, that the hand who tries to rid us of our greatness and honor shall be swiftly cut down.

We will plague the land of Vana Diel with the enrichment of our power, for we are wise beyond the likes of the feign devils to the south. The foolish, arrogant, greedy men of Bastok, who hunger for power, but shall attain nothing more than an embarassing defeat. And the lowly beings on the continent time forgot are no match for the likes of our great army, the Gustav Van Dier!

I shall smite thee, and all who oppose the mighty kingdom of San d'Oria, future rulers of Vana Diel!

So says the ignorant fool!

No really, San d'Oria has a whole lot more going on for it than most people know, that's why it'll most likely have the least numbers. We also have the greatest army, while the people of Windurst hide behind their magic and the people of Bastok hide behind their rifles. For shame.

At least us Bastokans will be laughing when you run up to us with your pitchforks while we're mowing down your army with our guns! Hahah! Stupid cocky Sandorians.

.....

I say Bastok and Windurst ally against Sandoria, then Bastok will turn it's back and burn down Windurst's tree... then Bastok will win!

Haha.

Really though? Who really cares? Just pick your country and have fun.

one thing I dont see being answered at sites is. Is there a lot of human (not hume, user controlled :p) vs human battles?

If so, where can they do battle (any big restrictions)? Also, how exactly does taking over land work? SO much I need to know :(

I'm plan to start off as a warrior, and then black mage, and then samurai, and then dragoon, and we'll see from there.

Thats probly because there is no user vs user battles. You cannot fight other players. The only thing you can do is get better reputation and conquest than them.

This is somewhat how it works. There is tons of unclaimed land all over the world. In order to claim that land, you must have high conquest points (or something like that). When you claim it, becomes the property of your kingdom. the kingdom with more land is more powerful, gets more stuff, etc. But even after you claim it, it can be taken over by another kingdom, which I'm too sure on how that works. My advice is read up on it at the official FF11 site, which you can find at square-enix-usa.com

Hmm...I wonder if they will hold tourneys with human vs human battles. I hope there are a lot of things out there that can cause intense battles.

I just thought it would be sort of a game of, well, kicking someone's ass to take thier land... You walk on it, if nobodys defending it, it's yours, if somebody is defending, fight for it ;)

Too Kingdom-y... though I am considering going Elvaan, or whatever it'll be called. Humaa... err whatever... is going to be too balanced, methinks. But I haven't the slightest idea.

Havent you read the FFXI history? We, Bastok, kicked San'doria's ass in that major battle. What makes you think the future will be so different? Join San'doria, I don't care, but be prepared to be humliated by the Republic of Bastok. Another thing... don't call them "kingdoms" because only San'doria is a Kingdom... Bastok is a Republic, and Windurst is a Federation, not a lousy Kingdom... =-D

Quote:

The Age Of Power

The use of magic brought both happiness and conflict to the other races of Vana’diel. Perhaps the most satisfied were the proud Elvaan, who made their home in the Kingdom of San d'Oria in the northern reaches of the old continent. With the Tarutaru monopoly on magic broken, the Elvaan were able to create powerful orders of knights who feared no adversary.

Beastmen strongholds and Tarutaru villages alike fell before the power of the knights of San d'Oria. Within a short time, nearly the entire Quon continent had come under San d’Orian control.

But pride comes before the fall.
The nation of Bastok, founded by the Hume and Galka races, lay on the southern edge of the Quon continent. Fortified by the growing economic and intelligence-gathering abilities of the Hume race, Bastokan forces crushed the elite San d'Orian knights at the Second Battle of Konschtat. Cutting-edge firearms technology turned the tide of battle and cemented victory for the people of Bastok. This humiliating defeat sent the Kingdom of San d'Oria into an age of internal turmoil and civil war. Piece by piece, territories that the Elvaan had conquered slipped from their grasps.

Oh... what's that? San'doria sucked/sucks? That's what I thought. Face it, Bastok is the superior. We crushed the ELITE San'dorians. Hah, stupid San'dorians... think they are so good.

YOU didnt kick anyone's ass, thats old history. This is present time, and Bastok has got nothing on San d'Oria.

And this is kind of pointless anyway, since we're all on the same side to begin with (read: world alliance). I chose San d'Oria because it is superior in my mind. Its different from the generic industrial land of Bastok and the organic land of Windurst.

For Rndm: the Elvaan aren't average, humes are. Elvaans specialize in tactical fighting, special skills, warrior and samurai abilities, etc.
