Re: Re: Re: Re: Kill Bill: Volume 1

So I watched the movie and liked it (though probably not for the same reasons as everyone else).

The only problem with my viewing experience was that there was a guy who fell asleep in the audience. Now, I find it mighty impressive that somebody managed to fall asleep through Kill Bill. But that's not the problem. The problem was that he snored. And the louder the movie got, the louder he snored. So all the dramatic silences in the movie got ruined because while Uma Thurman was staring coldly at her target or something, we'd be getting this rumble from over on my right.

It made me want to take out my knife and throw it at him. The aim would have been kind of tricky in the dark, though. But seriously, why would you go to a movie just to sleep through it? It was just a good thing the theater was relatively empty (since it was Wednesday night). Otherwise, that guy would have gotten in big trouble.

You should have just thrown some popcorn at him.

Awww... y'mean I'm not allowed to believe that if I were born a female I'd be treated as I have been all my life and that I'd be "fed" the same hormones?

Nope! And no being homophobic and insecure about your masculinity allowed either...

I don't eat at the movies. Just on principle, I refuse to pay three dollars for a coke. Thus, alas, I didn't have anything (non-lethal) to throw.

I enjoyed all the little touches like the way the swordmaker wrote the word "Bill" or the fact that Uma Thurman is wearing a suit like Bruce Lee wore in his last movie or the way Tarantino adds all these lines that are spoken in other kung fu movies all the time ("If in your quest you should meet God, God will be cut").

The movie is an homage to kung fu movies rather than a kung fu movie itself. That's the level I enjoyed it on.

Oh, and the music was pretty good, too.

When I saw the movie and they showed the word "Bill" on the sword, I jumped out of my seat and started cheering...

I'm cheap, therefor I enjoy buying goods at stores before attending films. God Bless large pockets.

All coming from the master behind Wu-Tang Clan. Pretty impressive stuff from RZA.

Well, some of it anyway. I highly doubt that Hotei Tomoyasu (composer of the guitar riff during Lucy Liu's slow walk) is a member of the Wu-Tang clan. Nor do I think the Wu-Tang clan wrote the Green Hornet Theme. ;)

The other stuff was good, though.

bobcat 10-17-2003 10:49 AM

Not a bad movie overall.

I don't understand y they tried to kill her to begin with.......

but somebody told me..........

WARNING SPOILERS (AND FUTURE SPOILERS) BELOW!!!!!

because she tried to leave the assasin gang.

I thought it was coz Bill was in love with her? Anywayz

yeah man...I thought that whole idea was a given. She wanted to get out...live her own life. I guess she did it at the wrong time, or did it in a way that would piss them off. And I don't think it would take much to piss those guys off ;)

bobcat 10-17-2003 09:00 PM

Oh I must've missed that part

Story wise there really isn't much there, but I like the way it's put together. I liked when she killed that secretary and chopped her arm off.

And when that Japanese girl (Gogo) said Ferraris were "Italian Trash" I was like "pfft yeh mate you wish". I said that in the movies kinda loud.

Anyways....good movie to watch overall. Understood most of the Japanese :D

I watched a preview for vol. 1 online, and they showed a part where The Bride was fighting some crazy samuri guy, and he jumped on her sword... it was sick... but it wasn't in the movie... so i guess its in part 2.. yep

I've noticed that in a few other previews before...

Sometimes scenes in previews end up on the cutting room floor, meguess...

yea, but that sceen doesnt fit in anywhere it would seem in the movie.

most likely, that part was taken out before they split the movie and its prolly in the first half of the 2nd movie.

But if not... then we get to see it on the deleted sceens part of the DVD :D

What was confusing about it? There really isn't much to the story, but I like the way it was done.

The main characters name is "beep" btw, weren't you paying attention?? ;)

Re: Kill Bill: Volume 1

I didn't like KillBill, it wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either. I'm a fan of old kung fu flicks and anime and for some reason the movie just didn't pull my strings. The fight scenes where nicely done other than that I thought the movie wasn't good. Some of my friends shared similar opinions.
So I guess I can get put in the corner with bigboss and happydude.
