Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
hey guys I figured since I was the originator of the long lost zelda thread, I might actually have it saved on my computer somewhat.
But to tell you the truth I really haven't had many qualms about past zelda games. We all know that by far our favorite was a link to the past, and it wasn't just the going back to the past cause that didnt' really work in OOT as good. Really what I'm thinking is going to make or break this game isn't the story line b/c that always seems to be good but the length. I mean a game that you just can play for hours and still not be close to done. Also it can't just be a long game it still has to incorportate some difficulty in it. I mean seriously at the end of the last few games since really the second one by the time you get to level 6 and above you can stomp anyones asses. Another thing, I know its hyrule and all most likely but seriously the master sword and stuff is cool but can't we for once have a new set of items. I love the boommerang and such but every game its the same thing over and over again, you get hookshot, and pegasus boots, and mirror sheild and fun stuff like that, but i just want something to make things different. One thing I hope they keep somehow is the shape changing. I wasn't a big fan of being a rock guy "sorry brain fart and forgot the name" but it was ****in awesome beinga zorra, it just made things so much easier than having flippers to swim around. I like how theyre gonna have the horse back and hopefully if your out in the open your always being chased around by a small band of moblins. Most of all what i want to see in this game is a ****in huge expanse of land. I mean hyrule field should probably be as big as the whole entire OOT of time land. Think about it its a castle surrounded by mountains it should have plenty of room in front of it so that it would be able to host a huge army to protect itself. I'm talking like the beach in front of troy. And all in all the final thing since we better fight gannon b/c that is what makes zelda a classic and why would a hero arise again if there wasn't a gannon to fight, but w/ gannon he should be a freakin powerful mamma Jamma. I mean I really want to have to fight this guy until I want to throw the controller at the wall. I mean seriously look at the monsters in FF games at the end there practically impossible to kill, but gannon no you always kill him in like 12 hits or so, and that just isn't goign to fly. and on last thing. if your a hero shouldn't epona be a white horse. I mean gannon and the bad guys always have a dark black horse but you have this homely brown horse. Why can't we have a nasty horse like shadowfax in LOTR. If we are the only hero that gives the landa chance don't you think that we would be able to get the greatest horse in all the land and shouldn't that horse be a white one? Alright those are my 30 cents, and trust me i coulda gone on about everything in this game but i'm tired of typing so if I get some good replys besides its not gonna happen i'm a dirty ^^hore like your m*m, then i'll throw out some more crazy happenings from this brain of mine. -surf- |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I agree with most of what you're asking for, except for the difficulty. While I think that Zelda shouldn't just be a walk through the park like WW was, it shouldn't be near as difficult as FF has known to become. Zelda's always been a series that both adult and child gamers could enjoy. Ramping up the difficulty too high would take away half of the audience.
And Epona (or "horse") as white? I would prefer brown. White horses seem ugly to me, and besides, the black and white thing is slightly cliched. I think the horse always being similar to (or just plain being) Epona is going to be one of those things like Talon and Malon (and Link and Zelda of course). Just a small continuity thing. I also don't see why Hyrule couldn't be bigger than everything in OoT ;) And a pet peeve: It is spelled bloody GANON! One N! Geez, one game has a mistranslation and people stick with it. Have they not noticed it is Ganon, not Gannon, in every game since? *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
:eyes:
I don't mind a brown horse.... And you have to realise that in LotR, Shadowfax should be grey/silver. They used a white horse only in the movie.... I hope they'll implement more horse-bussiness. Like if you're nice to Epona, she'll run faster and stuff. :) |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
You know what the new game needs? Sword beams. After ALttP, they suddenly disappeared except for a small cameo in MM. When I'm holding the Master Sword at full health, I want sword shaped beams to fly at my enemies.
Obviously, that could make things pretty easy, so there would have to be limits. There would have to be a limit distance, and the damage could be halved like in ALttP. Seems strange to me that the Master Sword would be weaker in OoT and WW than it was in ALttP (and every sword in LoZ). Roc's Feather/Cap would be great, too. Say you come to a large canyon, similar maybe to the canyon in front of Gerudo Fortess in OoT. You need to get across it. What do you do? Equip the Roc's Feather/Cape and jump across! Automatic jumping should be kept for the smaller things, but a Feather or Cape could be used to reach high places or across long canyons. Similar to how the Hookshot has been used, only cooler. The Pegasus Boots would make a nice return. Since there aren't screens like in top-down Zelda games, there'd have to be a limit to how long LInk could run... But they'd be neat in 3D... *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I want to jump in battle!
I haven't played Prince of Persia yet, but I hear it has awesome swordplay in it. I want that in Zelda... |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
The swordplay wouldn't work in Zelda; it's too acrobatic. It also kind of focuses more on throwing tons of enemies at you rather than having tough enemies and such.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I think Link should never talk.
I thought Link was supposed to represent the player (I read that somewhere.) So I never want Link to speak. NEVER! EVER! The other characters can't speak either. I have voices for them inside my head. Is it weird I have voices inside my head? |

Yes. very wierd. But alas, I completely agree with you. I dont want ANYONE to talk. Not link, not zelda, none of the other characters, NO ONE! I'm hoping shiggy doesnt make them talk, and knowing him, he wont. I like the idea of jumping. They should let us have Roc's Feather in this game. |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
If characters don't talk, are they still gonna make retarded noises when you talk to them? Because that'd be kinda weird with that kind of dark realistic look...
Speaking of which, do you think the villagers will still look like dumby-faces? |

And yes, dumby-faces are also a staple of the zelda series. |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
Why do we need an item to make Link jump? That was just for the GameBoy... kinda. Just use the L button to jump!! R to shield! Z to target (not hold, that wouldn't work with shielding).
|
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
No, I don't mean an item to make Link normally jump. There shouldn't be manual jumping for just normal things. The choice to give the 3D Zelda's automatic jumping was correct. Having to manually jump across small gaps to get to another platform would just get tiresome and turn Zelda into too much of a platformer.
What I'm talking about is an item that allows you jump REALLY high or REALLY far, within reason. Like I said, it could be used to jump across large canyons that the regular auto jump can't do, and to jump up to maybe an otherwise unreachable cliff. It'd open up some interesting puzzle oppurtunities. And what is wrong with voice-acting from characters other than Link? Keeping the game text just keeps the game behind the times. *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I think everyone EXCEPT Link, Zelda, Gannon...dorf...should talk. Everyone except the main characters. I too have pre-determined voices for them, and it would wreck it all. But i think the people in villages should talk for the most part. They should NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER have Link talk thats for sure, but Zelda and Gannon i could deal with..

.....You seem to confusing voice acting with communicating a bit...especially in that last sentence.... Anyway... I think we all are in agreement that Link shouldn't speak, so theres no reason for anybody to "debate" about it until somebody supports Link speaking. Just pointless. *shrugs and walks away* |

But I have proof to my speculation on the more realistic look. Q/A in interview http://wham.canoe.ca/gcn/topspot/2004/05/19/465640.html Wham! Gaming: Are you moving to this more realistic version of Link because it¹s what people wanted, or did you have it mind all along? Shigeru Miyamoto: Maybe it’s a little bit of both (laughs). When we did Ocarina of Time, obviously that was a game where you started off as a child and matured into an adult. But earlier on when we were developing the game, we started off developing it around an adult Link, and because of that we chose the graphical style we did with Ocarina of Time. Whereas with Wind Waker, we knew from the get-go that it was going to be entirely a story about Link as a young boy, and with that in mind we thought about the best way to express the story of a young boy, and how we could best create a reality in this world of Zelda using a graphical style. And the decision was that by going with this ‘toon-shading’ style, we can better express a young boy and better show his movements and make a more cohesive, realistic-feeling world. But at that time, obviously, we still had questions about if we’ve gone with this decision because Link’s a boy, what do we do the next time when we decide to make a game when Link is more grown up, and how are we going to create Link in a cel-shaded style as an adult. After a lot of discussion, what we decided was the best graphical presentation for an adult link was this style. |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
....What does not wanting Link to speak have to do with racism...?
*referring to -rep that said Link should speak and I should should stop being a racist* *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I was'nt debating that he shouldnt speak...i was stating my opinion, as much as anyother here.
and no, i wasnt confusing communicating with voice acting. The village people should have voice acters, is what i meant to say. And i dont get how in the last sentance im confusing it?? All i said was that Link shouldnt talk, but i could deal with it if Zelda and Gannondorf did. (And i dont get how thast racist, that was a stupid -repping IMO) |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
If the main characters don't talk I don't think the other characters should talk......it would seem unbalanced. Link, Ganon and Zelda can't talk but everybody else in the game can? You either let everyone talk or not. I'm voting for the not.
Hmmmmmm I would like some new items besides the usually ones, not sure what they should be. And maybe Link can wield atleast 2 other weapons like a staff or two swords and his fight style would change with the weapons. ( imagine pole volting over chasm with a staff ;) ) Also 2 more shields for Link wouldn't be bad. Like a shield that absords physical and magical attacks and sends them back as a projectile. Hmmmmmmmmm I haven't play Zelda in a while is that what the mirror shield does already? The horseback riding and fighting seems very cool, I saw a shot where link was being chased I wonder if he can do a trick and turn around and shoot arrows and then turn back around and keep riding. Maybe they will have a big war where Link and some soldiers will have to defend a castle from an invasion. Imagine running through the castle hall helping people and beating enemies senseless. More use of the environment would be nice, like getting behind a statue and pushing it on enemies. Or slashing a rope and some object falls from the ceiling and smashes somebody. Oh yeah, it would be great if they made use of a weather system, they should have a weather guy in the main town, that sends you the kind of weather they are going to have every seven days and based on the weather you should be able to unlock certain sidequests. Neways that's all i can think of for now |
Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
IGN suspects that it has a good weather system. :D The rain really looked moody...
