Re: Star Wars DVDs

i was watching clone wars, and noticed that they were playing star wars pod racing (you know the game) in the cantina... weird...

Ginkasa 09-25-2004 10:41 PM

Re: Star Wars DVDs

1) Its called Attack of the Clones, not Clone Wars
2) Why would it be weird? Bars in the real world show big sports games on TVs, right? Why would it be any different in the Star Wars galaxy?

Today I saw in the store that the widescreen collection is silver and the fullscreen collection is gold. They're also two different covers for both formats.

1. Which format did you get? Gold or silver?
2. Which cover art did you choose: Darth Vader or Luke and friends?

It's the same cover GM, it's just opposite sides.

And silver of course.

Pfft, pan and scam is for losers.

I never realized how crappy Jabba looked in the Special Edition Tapes (yeah, i did, but i didn't care)

I can't wait till I get these. I might go ahead and purchase them when I come home for Thanksgiving, instead of getting it for Christmas.

Now that ive got a 53inch Widescreen Television, I of course purchased the widescreen version. Its a no-brainer.

Re: Star Wars DVDs

That would be so cool if they put the original on dvd. Not remastered at all. Just as it was when it first came out. It would be orgasmic. :p

Heh heh...yea, its pretty nice...

Its not a plasma or even an LCD, its just a Rear-Projection TV. But theyve come a long ways in the rear projection technology in recent years. The picture in them used to be all washed out and crappy looking, but now its damn clear. There are a few obvious downsides to Rear-Projections though. For one, you have to be basically at eye-level with the TV when watching otherwise the picture will be dark. So forget about watching while lying on the floor. (on the couch works fine though). Also, if you get to far to the right or left side of the screen it starts to get dark...I mean you can go a little ways to the side and its still fine, but go too far and you start having problems. That and you have to manually converge the picture tubes from time to time...but its really easy to do, only takes about 30 seconds. Oh, and these things are pretty heavy...I honestly dont know how the 2 circuit city guys got it down the steps to our basement without dropping it.

But as for upsides, the Price is the obvious one. We got ours as sort of a clearout model at Circuit City(They were tring to get rid of em for the newer models that were just released) But that certinly dosent mean its old technology or anything. In fact, Panasonics website still lists it at $1799, which is over 300 dollars more than we paid for it, and we even got a 100dollar gift card. So really if you know what your looking for, you can get a pretty awsome big screen progressive scan(the works) TV for just under $1500.

Oh, here it is http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp...noreRedirect=1

Alright sorry about that guys, I'll end the rant. I just thought we got a pretty good deal on it and I thought Id share:)

Speaking of Star Wars... they're thinking of making another Spaceballs movie. I saw the article at IGN. In case you dont know... Spaceballs was one of the funniest movies ever, it was a parody of Star Wars, was released in the late 80s.

Geez.

Yeah Link! I was gonna say that, but you beat me to it, lol.

And I am not sure if they should make another Spaceballs... I think the first one was too good for a sequal.

I finally got the Trilogy, and I was happy to see that it had Turkish subtitles. Anyway, after watching A New Hope, I realized why people hated The Phantom Menace (I liked TPM). TPM wasn't really Star Wars. It was more like Star Politics.

I was really interested in the originals, and they haven't dissapointed so far.

Re: Star Wars DVDs

I think Lucas should make more, but he said he wont....which upsets me. I want him to make more, like, maybe pre-prequils, r like...after the last movie. He just isnt good at writing anymore. Hes gotten stuck in the hollywood romance stories, and the things to put smiles on children (Jar-Jar) Now, im not saying the first three (4,5,6) didnt have like, a love dealy in it, but IMO, hes gotten carried away.

And he used the horizontal/vertical wipe waaaaay too much in Episode 1.

What do you think, someone back me up.

Grown ups can buy things whenever they want but youths always have to save or wait for a day of giving to get what they want.

the only reason they should make a new space balls is if it had rick moranis, (tough to get john candy to act anymore) bill pullman...and all the originals back. what are the odds they'd make a prequal for spaceballs?

I wish they would. I think Chris Farley might have been able to do John Candy's part - too bad he's dead too... :(

While I don't think that making fun of a death like that is really in good taste. I also don't think its worth that kind of a vent.
