Re: RIAA: It starts...
most likely the users will buckle under the presure and goto a settlement.
i'll be surprised if they actually end up going to court. |

I can't imagine these ppl sharing a few songs. Good news for the record industry |
Re: RIAA: It starts...
nobody has a 'server' for it so to speak.
its just they searched him on the program and found he has music thats aviliable for otehrs to download. no one has multiple anything, just one user and his hard drive. needless to say they are basically going after the people who are giving the stuff out. otherwise they wouldnt know if you download a song, unless they setup a server and copy yuor name down if you download from them..... but then they are putting music up for download. could sue them. lol |
Re: RIAA: It starts...
The only thing other people can see is our Shared folders, right? So if I relocate all the files, nobody will be able to find them, correct?

But eventually there will be no files to download if ppl stop sharing. What about web based/ftp based servers? |

It's almost impossible for the RIAA to go after FTP servers. |

They cant find the people that are just downloading a song. because how are they supposed to know if you are connected to someone else? What they are doing is searching for copyrighted material in the search, and writing down all the usernames that pop up in the list, then they are clicking on each users and seeing what else they have that they are sharing. Which raises a few questions. i dont think they're actually downloading a file from each person. So if they take someone to court, what if that person says he never let anyone take songs from him? what if he says he cancels each download ppl try and do from him? They have to prove he's actually giving stuff out. not that he just has files in his share folder. The other question is im sure many of you have at least once ran into a file that said it was a certain thing. but really they just lied and its something totally worthless. what if they nab a person and take him to court and all he has is fake files. nothing real? Then the ultimate question. or kinda wish thing..... If the RIAA is using kazaa or grokster or one of these types of programs.... Wouldnt it be just funny if they got some viruses from it? lol |
