OMG, it is so shiny! It's like a new car! This machine is unstoppable!

Re: Sony's Conference
It's a round PS2!!!!!
But looks nice. Round Ps2!!! |
Re: Sony's Conference
So what are the differences besides wireless between the PS2 and PS3 controllers? Couldnt someone just plug in thier PS2 controller and use that instead? (of course maybe its really comfortable and people wouldnt want to, gotta say it doesnt look as bad as when i first saw it now)
|
Re: Sony's Conference
I think most of the graphics has to do with programming. It's not really the looks, but more what happens on screen. I think......
|
Re: Sony's Conference
So it appears the real REVOLUTION of next gen is indeed SONY's controller.
As someone in another forum said, When you get mad in a game and throw it, it will come back to you. :) all joking aside, its ALMOST starting to grow on me now, kinda like the Gamecube controller did. |
Re: Sony's Conference
Yeah, I thought it was garbage when I first saw it. But I stopped looking at it at face value and started to imagine myself holding it.
It seems it would be very comfortable with long prongs..... Everything is a nice size they just elongated the prongs... Does anyone see similarities...? ![]() ![]() The long prongs have proven to work well with holding the controller with stability.... Whose complaining now... |
Re: Sony's Conference
well if it does one thing it'll stop people from saying they cant get to the left joystick with thier thumb. longer handle means you could grip it a bit lower which would effectivly move the left joy stick higher up.
As with any controller tho, looks aside, you never know untill you actually hold one. |
Re: Sony's Conference

Now with the longer prongs it just enables that same aspect. The buttons, analog, shoulders, and D-pad are all in SIMILAR positions to the old PS2 controller.... just longer prongs to provide more grip then slip.. Remember also, their may be a REASON aside from Grip for the long prongs... perhaps a pressure sensitive grip for racing games... Squeeze on the right prong for an action and squeeze on left for another action... Maybe something for Fight Night PS3? |
Re: Sony's Conference
ARG!!! this is driving me nuts, i been looking for a while now, Will someone PLEASE find me a picture of the PS3 with its front panel (that slope down on the left of the cd tray) open and showing all the ports and plugs inside.
i saw the picture last night, it has a couple memory stick slots, and some other plugs, but now for the life of me i cant find where i saw that picture at.... |
Re: Sony's Conference
My long biased rants will come next week, when I get the net hooked up in my room.
But let me just say, every time I've complained about Sony's controller design, I take it back. Aside from the fact that it's incredibly dated, at least it was confortable. This is well... humorous at best. Sony should've just added USB support for PC controllers and not included one :D The console is umm... nice... but... ugly. Glad to see someone using Bluetooth (1.1 or 2?), and it's nice to see 1080p and HDMI output. Bravo. If only they could make a game that I cared about, and could sell this thing for a reasonable price. Sure it's going to sell for under $500. $499.99+tax! Still haven't seen a picture of a game, just heard some announced titles that put me to sleep. They'll sell, but they're just not for me. But please tell me that they gave real-time in-game shots, and not the stupid BS renders that they wowed us with to prove how superior it was to DC. 3 consoles shown, none have "wowed" me. |
Re: Sony's Conference
Quote:
That wowed me. Is that really in game graphics??? Even though it looks like it is from a gameplayers perspective, who's to say somebody didn't computer generate some or all of it? I'm confused  Also where are the gamelists? I haven't seen ANY games yet that have stood out and grabbed me by the nutz. |
Re: Sony's Conference
No. Got internet being installed on Tuesday. For now, I'm on a relatively slow, and very expensive public computer. So no big downloads until Tuesday. Then I have to sort through this mess of 80 posts per console.

Re: Sony's Conference
The only games known for PS3 release are:
Killzone 2 I-8 Gran Turismo 5 Motor Storm Heavenly Sword Metal Gear Solid 4 Grand Theft Auto next Final Fantasy next Rockstar western (Red Dead Revolver 2?) Fight Night round 3 Formula 1 Devil May Cry 4 Mobile Suit Gundam Tekken Ni-Oh EyeDentify Warhawk Killing Day but it's not set to release for another 10-11 months, so you cant expect a very large game list. how large was the XBox 360's game list 5-6 months ago? |
Re: Sony's Conference

Bluetooth 2.0 EDR (Sony and Ericsson invented Bluetooth... what do you expect?) Now about the price... let's check out some marketing patterns Newspapers speculate an up to $700 price tag for the Playstation 2. Sony launches PS2 in Japan for $379.00 Sony launches PS2 in US for $299.00 Newspapers speculate a $465 price tag for the Playstation 3. Sony will probably launch in it Japan for $399 And end up launching in the U.S. at $350.00 Sony will keep their price at a competitive price point to keep people interested instead of making them go to Xbox 360. Everyone knows PS3 looks way more powerful, so $350 would be a justified price point, for the extra horsepower in it.... But if it matches the X1.5 at $299.... EVEN BETTER... I'm not stopping them from doing it.... |

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/614/614924p1.html I think it's not realtime, it just looks too ............. polished to be real time. I mean the way everything happens, it just doesn't seem believeable. However I could be wrong. Quote:

But also on the price point, Blu-Ray is expensive, and the price isn't going to go down since its now pretty much became a proprietary format. Where Microsoft and Nintendo are banking on cheap lasers and cheap discs. Allows for a cheaper console, as well as lower game production costs, which is crucial for those smaller developers Sony has been known for having. But it has its benefits. I just don't see Sony selling this at a reasonable pricepoint, and after seeing PSP go for $250 in America, I'm not feeling confident that they will get it lower than $399. |

Re: Sony's Conference
That truly scares me...changing your name to Sony...not even PlayStation but Sony. When I get enough dlbns gonna change my name to General Motors...no...Coca-Cola...no...Square-Enix...no...Anheuser-Busch... which billion-dollar company should I sell my soul to?
|
Re: Sony's Conference
That photoshop is extremely good though... the expression on his face and his arm locations... makes it look like he's actually lifting a huge load.
|
Re: Sony's Conference
I knew there was something wrong with that picture, laugh out loud.
Now, let's poke some fun at Xbox and Nintendo's new consoles! |
Re: Sony's Conference
Changing my name to Sony is a joke that obviously none of your feeble minds can comprehend. I am only understood by those... who can take a joke....
EDIT: I don't know what's funnier... a simple name change or having Reggie dancing like an ass in ur signature..... I dunno..... |
Re: Sony's Conference
I forgot that no one ever gets your "jokes."
|
Re: Sony's Conference
I admire your loyalty and dedication to spreading the good name that is Sony.
I'd pull a stunt like that too but I've put way too much time into promoting the GM character, there's no turning back. That's what secret accounts are for...right Danchastu! |

As for Kyuzo. I could see if it was a joke chaning your name to "Nintendo" or "Microsoft" or "Phony" or something you're not diehard about. It wouldn't be a joke if I changed my name to "Nintendo" because I like Nintendo games. Now I changed it to the name of some Final Fantasy character and then acted all dumb and whatnot... Bill Gates isn't gonna wear an Xbox shirt and be like "Hey. Hey guys. Look how funny I am. I'm wearing a shirt with a game console my company makes. Oh I slay myself." If he wore a Mac shirt...that would be something else. |

Back to the original subject... I really enjoyed the Sony press conference overall, but I thought the lighting was rather lackluster compared to the Microsoft press conference. |

I mean... you just wrote a whole paragraph... because I claimed changing my name a joke... you realize that? |
Re: Sony's Conference
Yes. My fingers sure did get tired writing that entire paragraph. Ok my ten little soldiers, you guys deserve a break. If Thursdayton taught you anything it's that Nintendo fans over analyze anything and everything. You have been warned...and educated. Get started on that sign.

Re: Sony's Conference
Going back to the controller. It could look far worse. Like this toilet seat trying to be a controller:

Re: Sony's Conference
Laught out loud, it looks funny but I'd like to try it anyways. Who knows, it might work nice? :)
|
Re: Sony's Conference
I've used a controller similar to that before, it was very comfortable.
|
Re: Sony's Conference
You know you can use that controller while sitting.
