Eagles Thoughts

There are a lot of people loving Feeley right now, and he has been doing a good job. Buts thats it. He's doing enough. If you take a look at some of his throws, about 1/4 of them are downright stupid and only half of them are good choices. He will play well enough for the Eagles to win out the rest of the season, but come the playoffs he has to go.

1) He hasn't played against a fast defensive unit yet.

2) He hasn't been beaten up yet.

3) Out of Philly's 3 quarterbacks, he has the least amount of zip on the ball (he does throw will excellent touch, however)

For those 2 reasons he will lose if he starts against the Bucs. The Bucs will put him on the ground throughout the game and their linebackers and d-backs may be the fastest in ther league and they will catch up to those tipped balls and lobbed passes that Feeley was throwing against the Redskins.

Now don't get me wrong, I think Feeley is doing a very good job in his role and he WILL be an excellent quarterback in the future, but if he starts in the playoffs he'll get eaten alive.

Donovan is the best choice to start against the Bucs, just because of the X-faxtor his running ability gives him will keep the Bucs honest (and unlike Vick he can actually run a passing offense... I wish everyone would get off that guys nuts... he's so one dimensional its silly).

I like Detmer against the Packers with his efficient short passing game and I think Pinkston (best hands I've seen in a LONG time) could have a huge day against them. Plus, I'd love to see Detmer do the a$$ spank to Favre again, but be on the winning side this time :D

You can mix and match for everyone else as I don't think they pose a threat. Oh, and if Vick plays at the Vet, he'll get hurt... BAD

ZebraRampage 12-22-2002 09:25 PM

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Saints lost to the Bengals, that's is so horrible. They should be ashamed of themselves, and they shouldn't be allowed in the playoffs.

Bond 12-22-2002 10:45 PM

All I can say is:

LETS SO STEELERS!!!

Professor S 12-23-2002 09:45 AM

LOL!!! YES!!!

Thgey're a PA team too so I'm allowed to root for both them and the Eagles...

Then again next week Bond is goign to be screaming "GO GIANTS!!" :D

The Germanator 12-23-2002 01:32 PM

Man, I'm just pissed that the Giants actually have something to play for next week...I wish it would be worthless for them so we could just go and beat up on em, but no matter what, it will probably be a close game throughout. This is only the second tough team we will have played without McNabb, so it will be another challenge that we'll hopefully be up for.

EDIT: Woohoo! With Tampa's 17-7 loss against the Steelers tonight, the Eagles have clinched at least a first round bye which will be essential in getting McNabb healthy. Now all we need is homefield...basically so we can't let the Pack get it. :p

Jason1 12-24-2002 11:11 AM

You guys like that arse whoping Pittsburgh gave the no-good Bucs? You packer fans should appreciate it. Pittsburgh should win next week and leave them with a 10-5-1 record. Not too shabby considering they started out 1-3. Everyone underestimates them. Maybe this is their year....

ZebraRampage 12-24-2002 02:47 PM

In the AFC there are 6 teams with the record 8-7. Those teams are the Partriots, Jets, Browns, Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers, and then there are the Dolphins and Colts who are 9-6. Out of the Partriots Jets and Dolphins, one of them is still has to win the division. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

12-25-2002 09:51 PM

goddamn nfl. Too much parody. You really can't tell who the good teams really are. I think Philly is legit and maybe tampa bay but after monday night who the hell knows.

But the most important part of this post is to make fun of the former viking dwane rudd.

Yes Dwane, you rembember week 1, when you threw your helmet in that game against the cheifs? Yep that was it. If you hadnt done that you'd be 9 and 6 and be heading straight into the playoffs, now your team needs help to get in. I hope the fact that you're a no good thug is comforting you in this holiday season because it might just keep you home after the first of the year.

HA HA.

To the rest of the GT NFL guys, enjoy the rest of your XMAS!

Bond 12-28-2002 01:29 PM

Lets go Giants! We're the best!

EDIT: Wow, the referees completely blew two touchdowns for the Giants.

EDIT: Oh, wow, I can't believe Akers missed that field goal, very unlike him. So the game is heading to overtime..

EDIT: Oh... yes... the Packers are now the #1 seed in the NFC... yes... oh.... ah...

ZebraRampage 12-29-2002 10:22 AM

Don't forget, if the Packers lose and the Bucs win then Green Bay doesn't even get first round bye. Jets are hungry for the playoffs just as the Giants were, so the Packers will have their hands full and the Bucs are playing the Bears so that should be a win for them.

Bond 12-29-2002 05:06 PM

Well great, now we lost Driver. We've had so many injures this year it isn't even funny. And if I'm not mistaken I heard the Jets crowd cheering when Driver got hurt, how honorable.

Nobody said Jets fans were honorable...

Anywho, Pittsburgh won today! Too bad the Titans couldnt have lost, if they would have Pittsburgh would have had a first round bye. Oh well...

I never said anyone did. I was simply making a statement.

I would like the heartily thank the Green Bay Packers for giving my Philadelphia Eagles homefield throughout the playoffs. Accolades to you :D

As for cheering the Driver injury... come on now. Jets fans are pansies. Philly fans cheered when Michael Erving received his career ending injury (couldn't have happened o a nicer guy  ) and we through snowballs at Santa with D-cell batteries in them. Now THATS a group of FANS!! :D

Fear the Vet.:errr:

On a side note, I'm camping out for tickets tonight. WOO HOO!!!!

C-O-L-T-S COLTS COLTS COLTS COLTS COLTS!

Indy is In, and by the look of today's game, they also got their Edge back.

Edgerrin James, that is :D

I'm REALLY stoked for next week's Colts@Jets game...it's going to be off the hook!

*Thread will be updated on Tuesday for final regular season statistics, standings and Stu's Playoff Picks

Bond 12-30-2002 10:44 AM

Well here are my picks for wildcard Sunday:

Jets to beat the Colts
Packers to beat the Falcons
Steelers to beat the Browns
Giants to beat the 49ers

Jets, Packers, Steelers, Giants.

I agree wit ya.If that happens then it'd be the

Jets vs. Raiders
Steelers vs. Titans
Giants vs. Eagles
Packers vs. Tampa Bay

Jets would lose,Steelers would lose,Eagles would lose, and so would Tampa being:

NFC Championship:Giants vs. Packers
AFC Championship:Titans vs. Raiders

Not to sure about what'd happen next but that is what will mostly like happen. Probably Packers vs. Raiders,Packers vs. Titans,or maybe even Giants vs. titans

Are you kidding me? The Eagles would not lose to the Giants at home with Donovan McNabb. They could barely beat us at the Meadowlands with our 3rd string QB. I predict an Eagles/Packers NFC championship...with the Eagles winning in a close one.

Add to that the fact that the Eagles would have won except for a fluke miss by the best field goal kicker in the NFL...

Rick_Blaze 12-30-2002 03:03 PM

well

You are right but a win is a win. On the day I become an adult we new yorkers are faced with the prospects of an all new york super bowl. Great.

Bond 12-30-2002 03:07 PM

It's weird, you guys seem so sure that the Packers can beat Tampa Bay. I mean, I'm the biggest Green Bay fan here, but I am not at all sure that we can beat the Bucs. I'm also a little low on us losing to the Jets though. Maybe that's why. But we just have so many injures it's not even funny that we are 12-4. If you want a look here:

Earl Dotson
Darren Sharper
Keith McKenzie
Gilbert Brown
Bhawoh Jue
Najeh Davenport
Scott Frost
Mark Tauscher
Chad Clifton
Joe Johnson

There's more but I can't remember all of them.

When I went to the Vet two years ago to see the Eagles beat the Cardnials the Eagle mascot drove over a huge stuffed cardnial with a golf cart and the whole stadium was cheering, it was so ****ing hilarious.

Perfect Stu 12-30-2002 07:24 PM

I hate to say it, but if the Eagles want to do what's best for them, I think they might need to keep starting A.J.

McNabb could very well be out of shape, and I don't think his mobility will be the same until the beginning of next season at the earliest. I don't exactly know what I expect from him if he does start in 2 weeks, but I guaruntee he won't be the McNabb from weeks 1-10 of this season...and Besides, A.J. has lead them to victory each and every game he's started (the missed field goal last week was Akers' fault, not his).

ZebraRampage 12-30-2002 07:41 PM

I don't think McNabb will be so bad. He played against the Cardnials with a broken ankle and made awesome throws and that was when the break was at its worst, but then again he hasn't played for 7 weeks so his arm may be rusty. Well who knows.

Next weekend's winners

Giants
Packers
Jets
Steelers

The packers won't win on the road in the second round.

Steelers V Raiders
Bucks V Eagles

Eagles V Raiders

Raiders win it all.

I still have to disagree. You have one of the best QB's in the league, and even if he isn't 100% or even he is a bit rusty, he is still way better than A.J on any day. A.J hasn't led us to victory, he's been solid, I have to give him that, but it's our defense and special teams that have won games for us. Plus A.J only played one quality team, and he lost, so that says it right there. And if for some reason Donovan can't play, I would start even Koy over A.J...Koy is a much better QB also and if any back-up plays, it will be Koy anyway. But, I saw McNabb running and throwing on the field the other day on T.V, and if he is just somewhat mobile, he's playing...that's why we pay him the big bucks.

But what if the team plays horribly under McNabb. McNabb can not win the entire game by himself. Although he does deserve his starting job back, it's not his fault he got injured. It's quite a tough situation if you ask me.

Well if the team plays horribly then they will lose no matter who is behind center. You can't go into the playoffs planning for your team to play badly. Plus, if you look at what the Eagleas have done over the last 6 weeks with their 3rd string QB, they are the best TEAM in football.

LOL!!! Maybe the Jets, but the Giants just blew their load against the Eagles who had one of their worst games of the season (Akers missd from 35, need I say more?) I'll be HIGHLY surprised to see them win their first playoff game. Even if they do amnd they come to the Vet, it won't be a close game. Eagles will win BIG. Feel free to quote me on any of what I've said.

It might be and Eagles vs. Raiders Super Bowl, and the funny thing is that in 1980 the only time the Eagles went to the super bowl they played the Raiders but lost 27 to 10.

Professor S 12-31-2002 11:08 AM

I agree with Stonecutter's picks except for the last one. Eagles will win IF they make it and i honesty don't fear anyone when their coming to the Vet. The Packers and Bucs worry me a little if we had played them at their place, but now that the Eagles have home field they better turn it on.

BTW, I bunked out for Eagles tickets and got NONE. There were 10,000 people camped out beside the Vet in a shanty town. People were burning police barricades for heat and chopp3ed down trees to burn. Absolute CHAOS. But tons of fun. :D

oh,yes win BIG!

The Eagles haven't beat anybody in a while and as soon as they faced a good team they lost.

Professor S 01-02-2003 08:45 AM

I believe they won 5 of their last six which included a playoff team if I'm not mistraken. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The Eagles are the best team in football right now. Their record says it all. The Giants playe for their playoff LIVES on Saturday and still had to depend on Akers missing a 35 yarder for a team that was already guaranteed a bye.

Thats one GREAT team there, yeppers. Giants = 1 and DONE.

No, but please go on to talk about how bad the 12-4 NFC leading Eagles are a bad team, I find it FUNNY.:D

Nobody said the Eagles were a bad team. But they are not the best team in the league. They played a better game against the Giants Saturday? The only thing was the fumbles and i believe a touchdown or two was taken back. Not sure.

The Germanator 01-02-2003 04:52 PM

Yeah, but our defense gave up some ridiculous amount of yards, 400 some, which is unheard of for our defense...it was clearly one of the poorer games that we have played all year, so yeah...well, we'll see what happens in the 2nd round IF the Giants get there...

Trowser 01-02-2003 04:55 PM

We'll see.Reports are that McNabb will play in the Eagles 1st playoff game...

The Germanator 01-02-2003 11:44 PM

Yeah, McNabb saidd that there is "no doubt" that he will be ready and play, and considering he played a whole game with a broken ankle based on his words...he'll play.

Bond 01-04-2003 08:56 PM

OH MY GOD. THAT BALL HIT A ****ING FALCONS PLAYER. WHO THE HELL ARE THESE REFEREES, ****ING IDIOTS?

OH BOY, THE ****ING REFEREES TOLD SHERMAN IT WAS NOT A REVIEWABLE CALL, WHEN IT IN FACT IT WAS. TOTAL ****ING MORONS.

01-04-2003 09:54 PM

Packers are really whipping some ass there bond, well at least they just got 7. On a side note I really love listing to Larivee on the WTMJ call.

I don't want the packers to win, but I really wish they'd make a game out of this.

Bond 01-04-2003 10:09 PM

Glenn
Green
Driver
Brown

Those are 4 key players, all lost today. Not counting our countless other injures. No way we can get anywhere with all these injures.

Oh joy, another horrible call by our All-Star official crew.

01-04-2003 10:49 PM

Well, I just turned it off after that incomplete pass on 4th down. I will admit the pack got screwed on that last one.
