Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
*slaps everyone who said Halo1 is identical to Halo 2*
As for people getting 'sick of this crap' I haven't seen anything but growth in the games with a ton of sequals that stay true to what made the original fun. |

Implementing a feature done 6 years ago (dual wielding; Goldeneye...and it might have been done perhaps even before that), and sticking in a car jacking feature is hardly enough to make the game "non-identical." Its fun, but hardly new. However, I also think that franchises are allowed to pretty much redo the original game once before really doing something new with the license so... *shrugs and walks away* |

And in those basic terms you use, pretty much every FPS is indentical. The only thing that really sets them apart is design and style. |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
I'm betting big bucks that Link has either NEVER touched Halo 2, or played it in a very limited amount of time.
Point? dont even try to judge the game I havent played it, and I wont. |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
*has it sitting on his XBox*
*is very far into the single player game* *feels sorry for Stu's big bucks* I still think it is very similar to Halo. Single player anyway; perhaps multiplayer has more new stuff than...some other game... The single player, however, has very little different from the original. But like I said, a series is allowed to redo a game once, IMO, before it starts to get stale. I have no problem with Halo 2 being similar to Halo, just people who like to claim its not. *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
why'd you buy the game?
|
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
Prolly to try the game, perhaps he thought he'd like it.
not everyone is blessed with the magical ability to see if games are good or not before buying. |

Besides, I don't actually own the original Halo (I only rented), so its not like I bought something I "already have." *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
Link... I think Halo 2 added MORE than enough to be worthy as a good sequal. I think your problem is you didn't play the first Halo enough. You'd be shocked how many little things you can do in Halo 2 that can't be done in the first Halo. And yes, the gameplay changes aren't extreme, but there is so many little changes everywhere that it hardly feels the same. After you beat Halo 2, rent the first again and beat it... there is much more there than car jacking and dual weilding.
As for adding features that have been in older FPSs... why should that matter? The first Halo got very high marks without those features. Halo made the jump from being a good console FPS in Goldeneye and Perfect Dark's leauge to now being the best home console FPS ever made (imo... and in the opinion of pretty much all the reviewers I've seen) |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
Link, play Halo2 on xbox live if you can. The single player is fun, but the online is freakin awesome.

And I'd like to play online, but I don't have XBox Live, nor do I really want it. I've never been into multiplayer too much, and going online with a console just seems like too much of a hassle for something I'd only use once in a while. *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
You're going to get flamed again. :p
I'm sorry. :( |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
You know, Link has a point....
*jumps in some nearby bushes to hide from the pitchforks* |
Re: Xbox 2 will run the tables
Halo 2 does feel a lot like the original. You have dual-wielding and car-jacking but that's about it for changes. The environments are upgraded but all the weapons are basically the same and the soundtrack is as uninspired as ever. Halo 2 is more of an expansion pack than an actual sequal.
