Re: Sony's Conference
It depends..
Seems like in order to copy, they had to remove rumble from the DualShock. http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/rele...f/060509be.pdf |
Re: Sony's Conference
if its missing rumble, that might have more to do with the lawsuit rather then the motion.
be interesting to see tho if they find a new way to impliment the forcefeedback. [edit] actually the reason they say kinda makes sense too, the rumble interferes with the motion sensing. which i could see happening. |
Re: Sony's Conference

Re: Sony's Conference
I hate to sound negative but I had to sit through that.. granted its my own doing but eh.
Anyhow, it just seems like Sony is making all the wrong moves.. maybe I am mistaken. I know this much was out of their hands, but Rumble has pretty much became standard in controllers and to take it out just seems like a step backwards. Then they tried to follow the 360's route with two SKUs, but in the process made the cheaper one even more crippled and seems non upgradeable. In the cheaper version, you won't get WiFi or HDMI support, worse off it doesn't look like it supports any memory cards. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/705/705887p1.html And of course, the pricee puts it out of the casual market atleast for now. Granted, I'm sure people will still buy but eh. and it also looks like the tilt function is a bit more limited than the Wii's and also I think it only detects original motion and not like depth or speed, I could be mistaken here. also don't take up like an hour with racing games.. especially when one is a port and the other is a 10 year old game on the go... granted Nintendo has done this stunt, but they never spent 10 mins reshowing the super mario advance line |
Re: Sony's Conference
actually i dont like seperate bundles or systems at all, i think they should all be the same. However, the way sony is doing it IMO is much smarter. they take away things to bring down the cost that WONT effect gameplay. rather then take something away like a HD that will HUGELY effect gameplay.

stupid @$$ boss makes me work! missed it :'( |
Re: Sony's Conference
no rumble really pisses me off.
I'd rather have rumble than motion sensing in PS3 - PERIOD. let nintendo do the motion sensing, keep the rumble. |
Re: Sony's Conference
It made me smile. :) pwnd.

Re: Sony's Conference
I'm most disappointed with the boomerang being gone.

Re: Sony's Conference
I think I prefer to game 'rumbleless'. When it's a game that requires acute timing and reflex, rumble just messes me up and makes it more difficult. It's not that realistic anyways, at least not on the Gamecube.
It doesn't matter anyway, Sony can't undo screwing themselves over now. They've branded the PS3 as the over-priced system that's attempted to rip-off features from the other two systems at the last minute in an effort to succeed. Unfortunately, that kind of underhanded **** doesn't wash with the gaming community. |
Re: Sony's Conference
I had a WaveBird for cube but I always prefered the standard controller for the rumble. Hard to go back to a rumbleless world.

Re: Sony's Conference
Wow, this is shocking I expected Ninty's tech to get copied after a year or so. The only bad thing about this is that this will make Nintendo more paranoid about revealing new products or game ideas. *sigh* :(
