One of my favorites:
A Perfect Circle - Passive Perhaps the greatest APC song there is. Don't you dare say imagine. And uhm, this band used to be good, until America was like "OMG Somewhere out there" and I was like "OMG NO!" I give you Our Lady Peace - Superman is dead: |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FRtkek-Et4 (for some reason embedding is disabled) Claypool has a few side projects, most of which are very average or suck. But I've always enjoyed Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade: Also, John Zorn (new york jazz composer) has 300 new songs he wrote being played by a bunch of different artists across a bunch of CDs, the series is called "book of angels" http://www.amazon.com/John-Zorns-Boo...R1O2EA7YMV15Z3 here's one quick youtube search i could find: |
Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
Ahh, Primus. Loved them as an adolescent. I haven't listened to them in a long while. I saw them live at the Electric Factory when I was 12 or so...Such a bad idea. A lot of tattooed + pierced dudes almost killed me, but at least my dad was around.

Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
If nothing shows you the difference between the touring bands of the 70's and today's studio rock groups, it's a Concert for New York after 9/11. All the major stars from the day played this concert, and The Who kicked all their asses to the point thats all you remembered about the concert. And they're geriatrics who hadn't played together in YEARS.

Forgot how much I loved Flogging Molly
Just clse your eyes and listen to this one. The screen caps are annoying... And my favorite Flogging Molly song. It literally makes me cry almost every time I hear it... |
Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
Whoops, forgot twwo more great ones. Cruel Mistress and Death Valley Queen are great examples of their story songs. Great lyrics.

Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
Nice, I like them but I only have a couple of songs.
Almost in the same genre: Rapalje. I've seen them live 3 times now, it's always great. There aren't that many good recordings on youtube, but these two are pretty good. Check it out. |

Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
I've made a startling discovery....Lil Wayne and K'naan have very similar rhyming styles.
lil wayne: k'naan k'naan has a new album coming out...The Dusty Foot Philosopher is a great album, albeit i have a beef to pick with this song: i think it's kinda hypocritical and yeah...i dunno but these two songs are golden: ------------------------------------------ anyway, i've been listening to some metal lately.... messhugah is methodical, technical and everything yummy about playing in x/8 time Meshuggah requires patience. The subtle brilliance of the music reveals itself in layers with each listening, but it's not for everyone. Another fun band is Botch. These guys faded away.......... Botch turned into Minus the Bear. imagine that. Another cool transformation is: Today is the Day (90's experimental hardcore sorta like Converge on crack): and members went and formed the very popular Mastodon: funny how music goes in circles like that. lately i've been listening to some (popular) pop music from way back: I've also been playing catch up on some of 2008's more pop-based albums, so I'll get around to posting some tube clips to them eventually. |
Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
Uhm Word up yall. Read a Book.
These guys make me lol sometimes, but it's not bad. |
Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
Or maybe you want to see the version where's she announced by Scarlet Johansen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY4uo...eature=related (Very lame introduction btw, I can't believe they made her say that.) |

That's my second favorite band. Nice choice! Here's a cool one that I found the other day. If you don't know this song then definitely watch the original video first. Take On Me - A-ha (Literal Version) Take On Me - A-ha (Original) This is from Google video because I couldn't find find one of the whole video on youtube that was of any good quality. The literal version on youtube cuts off a few measures before the song is actually over, but you get the point haha. I saw full versions on google video. |
Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
Hah, that was cool. Hadn't seen the original either, pretty artistic.

You all like comics, so I figured I'd show you guys this (I already showed BaB):
Madvillain is MF Doom and Madlib. |
Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
KG, What are the three best MF Doom songs you can think of? I've heard him quite a few times over the past 5 or so years, but have yet enjoy any one song.
British Sea Power - No Lucifer The Whispers - And The Beat Goes On |
Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!
The Clean - Beatnik

I dunno, I think he has a lot of songs I'd have to sit down and think because I listen to most of the albums in whole. I really like the albums Madvillainy (under artist: Madvillain) and Vaudeville Villain (under artist: Viktor Vaughn). For the rest of MF Doom's stuff, I find a lot of it comes down to the subtle production, which often times is really top notch. I also recommend reading along with some of the lyrics, I find that to help me appreciate his rhyming. Otherwise, I have to agree a lot of his stuff is hard to enjoy...or very subdued. Anyway......... |

Dangerdoom isn't the best, but his work with Ghostface is pretty top notch. I'm sad he hasn't done much in a while. I've heard rumors of declining health, but I'm not sure, I still haven't seen him live but I'd love to. All of that said (I don't have too many Doom convos) 3 great songs... Rock Co.Kane Flow - De La Soul ft. MF Doom (produced by Prince Paul) This track has too much to like...rhymes by De La Soul and Doom along with an amazing beat by Prince Paul...it transcends any of them, but it perfect.. Doper Skiller (ft. Kool Keith) - This is from the sequel to Vaudeville Villain, "Venemous Villain" which as a whole is pretty weak, but Doom and Keith together? It's unbeatable once again... 3rd song...I was actually going to go with Saliva as well as KG already suggested. I listen to this often on repeat in my car or wherever, just so good. As for El-P, well, I love his production on the Cannibal Ox album as well as the first Mr. Lif. It took me longer to get into his rapping style, but as a producer I have a lot of respect for him. I probably have more to say, but I get in a cab for a plane back home in about 4 hours...yikes...I should go to bed. |
