Being John Malkovich

Wow. I Can't believe I've never watched this before, considering it's by one of my favorite filmmakers. It was incredible. I loved Inception, but this was like a more well-thought out Inception. I'm actually not sure if these films are comparable, but they definitely connected in my brain while watching them.

<3 Charlie Kaufmann + Spike Jonze

I really can never remember who recommended what, but to whoever recommended Swimming with Sharks, that was a solid movie.

It kind of made me think of Ari Gold on Entourage, but in a much darker manner.

Batman Gothic Knight
Probably the best batman movie.

Coco Chanel & Igor Travinsky
I didn't care much for this one. Some great directing touches but overall the movie fell far short of the opening scene's drawn out magnification.

I think you mean Gotham Knight unless you are talking a fan made movie?

Anyhow, Disney's Princess and the Frog its nice to see Disney get back to what made them Disney. Such a fantastic film.

Manhattan

My Netflix queue is full of some Woody Allen I've been meaning to catch up on. Manhattan looks beautiful and is obviously one of the classic Woody Allen flicks. I understand the love/hate on Allen, but I find his movies pretty charming...At least the good ones, he's got a lot of bad ones too. Manhattan is a good one.

Manhattan is my favourite Allen film.
I actually quite liked What's New Pussycat - Allen's first screenplay. It's hard to dislike anything involving Peter O'Toole though. It's got that crazy 60's inhibition, boundary pushing kind of flavour that devolves in its revelry until the last frame. don't hurry to see it unless you like silly 60's humour. A funny homage to Chaplin made it worth it to me.

dunno why I was thinking Gothic Knight. The opening part done by the Mind Game guy was f'ing brilliant. Love his flexible style.

Termininator Salivation. 6/10.
Wasn't as bad as I expected, but still not a worthy Terminator movie.

The Science of Sleep

Took me a while to get to this one for some reason. I love the dream world that Gondry creates. Some of that stop animation was just so beautiful that I wish there was more of it. Still a really good, heartbreaking, but funny movie.

Did you watch it in French?

Re: Last movies you saw

Well, the movie switches between French, Spanish, and English throughout. I obviously had subtitles for the French parts.

Love Exposure - Japanese flick that I absolutely loved. 4 hours. Felt like 2. It's over the top. Japanese cults and voyeurism. Filmed with a handheld so there's a poorly lit indie feel but it works wonderfully. The original cut was supposedly 6 hours long! Studio required a shorter film so the director took it back to 2 hours...but it didn't make sense so it got rolled out to 4. I really enjoyed the alternative cultural take on Christianity and cultism.

Tai Chi Masters - Produced by Jet Li. Set in old China, rebels vs army. There's some cool action. Michelle Yeow from the early 90's!

Ah ok I forgot about that. I was just afraid you watched a version with voice-overs, although that's probably not your style.

Hilarious. Sean Combs is a comic genius.

Twilight: New Moon.

Wasn't as bad as expected. It had transforming werewolves and some decent fights, but all the emotional stuff was just stupid, boring and too obvious. Oh and Jacob > Edward. He looked so bad in this movie that I wondered if the actor was on drugs.
