Just to point out, I have a 17" monitor with a 1920x1200 default resolution. :p
It really comes down to what type of display you buy, and while larger monitors do usually have higher resolutions that is not always the case. Most 24" LCDs I see come with a sexy 1920x1200 resolution, but anything under 24" is all over the place with 1440x990 and stuff. Also wide screen is the way to go. I do have a Viewsonic CRT chilling downstairs though, 1600x1200 baby. That thing kicks ass minus being a tad bit dark (very bright and clear colors though). I thought about opening it up and doing some resistor surgery but I don't feel totally confident operating with such a high voltage piece of equipment.
