I noticed improvements.

And if you don't have Firefox, you better get it.

I also noticed it fu**** up some sites for me.

Thanks Dyne.

Now images that should be things like a Red "X" are now pictures that are on the opposite side of the page.

Re: Make Firefox Faster

It didn't do a whole lot for me, but I've got a pretty fast connection and haven't had much trouble.

Still, a good find.

Re: Make Firefox Faster

There might be a slight difference. Or I could just be looking so hard I'm making it up.

So basically, if there is an improvement, its not terribly drastic.

On an unrelated side note: Don't you hate it when you have a word, and you know how to spell it, but it just doesn't simply look like the right way to spell it, even though it is? I just had that with "terribly." That does NOT look right, but I confirmed it at dictionary.com to be the correct spelling...

Ah well....

*also finds it annoying when unrelated side notes are longer than the actual post*

*shrugs and walks away*

Aren't you on 56k, though? This trick only works for broadband.

Ok. Well, for some people, it only works on particular pages. If it's going SLOWER.. Maybe you're just hallucinating.

It's good to see everyone using Firefox.

Re: Make Firefox Faster

I like Firefox because it's so customizable. I see it overtaking IE in 5 years.

Ask a 10 year old kid what "Netscape" is.

IE is the new Netscape.

seems to work a bit better for me. Thanks for the link!

i fail to see your analogy... a 10 year old kid isnt going to know what nutscrape is. i honesly doubt most will know what either is. but they're more likly to know what IE is over what Firefox is. so how is IE the new netscape?

IE still has 90% of the web browsing userbase. Firefox has about 5%, i think they said thier goal at firefox is to have 10% by next year.

Dont get me wrong, IE is by far the very worst possible browser one could get right now. But im not getting what you mean when you say its the new Netscape.

So how does this work? Does it preload links? Cause I don't want that. *not sure if that's possible*

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

Re: Make Firefox Faster

And does that cost extra bandwith? Because I have to keep an eye on my data limit. :(

i'd have to say no. cuz your not downloading anything extra.

think of it like a glass of milk is the website :D
whether or not you drink (download) that milk with 1 straw, or 4 straws, your still getting the same amount.

so a sites a site. it doesnt matter how quickly you download the site, its still getting downloaded.

:D :sneaky:

Re: Make Firefox Faster

Web pages are peanuts compared to multimedia files. My estimate is that you wouldn't even download 10 megs just by browsing pages during a period of a month, on low-image sites; however, downloading two or three mp3s (of average size) would use the same amount of bandwidth.

Re: Make Firefox Faster

Ie can go a lot faster then Firefox if you tweak your registry settings, but I'm sure you guys dont wanna mess with your registry.

In any case, IE is good for sites like MTV and LAUNCH for playing Music Videos. Whenever I went on Firefox it said I didn't have Windows Media Player Plug-in, and I installed it. I went on MTV.COM LIVE with IE and it recognized it.... so Firefox still has a lot of kinks and bugs to work out of their end.

Firefox can't do cursor trails.

hmm another one of these tuning tips... nothing new. It may make Firefox seem faster at first but after awhile firefox may actually display pages slower after or affect the computer performance. See the post made by Michael at end of the devnulled.com article.

Also Do see http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/archives/007164.html and also probably THE original source that started the Firefox tuning. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=53650
