Art Battle Volume 1

GM and I discussed this idea a couple weeks ago, and I think he may start doing them later on, but for the time being I'm your Master of Events. ;)

As most of you know, Kyuzo and I were recently involved in a one on one artistic duel, who's outcome resulted in me being your glorious champion. Just teasing you Kyuzo...

And in recent weeks the art board has been rock'n with activity, and I plan to keep it that way. We have so many artistic people here on GT, and I'm addicted to making, looking at, and critiquing art. And I'm sure there are other people out there like me, right here on these forums.

So thus begins a glorious saga known as the weekly art battles, in which GT users submit art, and the same users vote on a winner. Each week will involve a different theme or genre, or both.

On monday's I will post a thread giving the specifications of the next battle, and people will have until Thursday night at 10 PM to submit their work. After that, voting will begin in another thread. On Sunday the champion for the week will be decided, and their work will be posted in another thread called the "Hall of Fame". You are not allowed to vote for yourself in the battle.

And every so often we will have more "duel's", in which two members duke it out in an art battle, and the winner of these duel's will be decided by a panel of judges, while the rest of the community can bet on them in the vBookie system. Hopefully judges will volunteer, and we would like to have 2 artistic judges who judge technically, and two non-artistic judges who take another perspective.

To kick off the Art Battle chronicles, I have decided to make the first week a free for all. You can make anything you want (as long as it stays true to the TOS...) It can be a signiture, photography, a drawing, painting, abstract, etc, etc.

The number one rule:
No plagiarizing!

You may submit your work in this thread, and since I'm starting it kind of late, you can have until 12 PM thursday instead of 10 PM.

If I do work, it would all be in Paint. Because I have *cough* serious Paint skills.

Plus because I lack Photoshop.

If you find where I may "purchase" it from for me, Doubloons and rep shall be your reward.

Plus im working out right now, and have little time for redundant searching.

I think you can "purchase" it off any P2P program.

>_>

I shall look into this later tonight.....about how large should the file I'm "purchasing" be, do you suppose?

I don't remember. I'm considering "purchasing" CS tonight, since I'm still on 7.

Now stop the chit chat, and submit art. :p

yes, expecially if you want a free "virus" with every "purchase"

;)

honestly people, dont get executables off of p2p programs, thats just asking for it. unless its a bit torrent from a well known site.

Re: Art Battle Volume 1

You download it then just kill the virus with a virus scanner if it comes with one.

And mine was in .zip form, not .exe anyway. :p

And there is no way I can actually afford to buy the real thing.

If you want it off of any P2P program, make sure it is about 170-200megs large.

there would be nothing to kill. the whole thing would be a virus.

and a executable zipped up is still an executable. that makes no difference.

as i said, if your going to 'purchase' it off the net, id say get off a bit torrent site where you know where the link comes from. not just any schmuck on a p2p network. thats just not using your brain.

Re: Art Battle Volume 1

well i got mine from a friend that I know so guess that eliminates the risk... I'll see if I can upload the exe later.

Null 03-22-2005 12:08 PM

Re: Art Battle Volume 1

you mean your friend 'sold' you the 'legitimate' copy, and theres no risk because you 'bought' it from him. and you'll see if you can 'loan' someone here a 'trial' version for a 'limited' time.

Wow, all these 'quotations' really 'distract' the 'reader' from actually 'understanding' what is being 'said'. :D

And yes, Mantra #1 of P2P using is never download executables. 90% are viruses.

Can you say 'reformat'?

:p

I did 'borrow' a copy of After Effects for the PC. It seems to be okay though, haven't noticed anything fishy and my arsenal of protection applications have not detected anything troublesome.

Want to come over to my house later and 'play'?

Same here. We must be really smart "consumers", because all of our "purchases" have been in "mint condition".

And I'm going to make another thread for submissions, because all this "shop talk" is annoying as hell.

Re: Art Battle Volume 1

Oh yeah...

For future reference, if anyone [GT(1)] ever says "I'll pay you X dubloons if you do this," remember that there's a good chance that I'll [GT(2)] pay you "X+1" dubloons to satisfy the "opposite" scenario (or "not to do this"). This is under the assumption that the domain of "X" is all positive real numbers less than or equal to 'GT(1)'s dubloon total, and that "X+1" is less than or equal to 'GT(2)'s dubloon total.

Also to take note is the fact that the GT(2) purchase is directly related to demand and is therefore subject to increase on the dubloon axis. As well, GT(2) bears the right to not pass any "ass"ymptotes, which includes "purchasing both GT(1) and GT(2)." If GT(1)'s offer were ever to be purchased after the offer made by GT(2) has been purchased, a refund of 150% would be demanded for the GT(2) purchase.

Contact me for details.

Odds of this offer being available when both participants [the buyer and GT(1)] live outside of the contiguous United States are dramatically decreased.
