Who was your favourite James Bond actor?
They were all good, Lazenby got a... mmm not a crap script, it was just different.
I have to say mine is Pierce Brosnan, this may be because he is the bond of our time but also because his actor wife always wanted him to play the role of bond and she is dead now. Whats your opinion? (I am excluding trhat crap film Casino Royale from the equation BTW) :mad2: this was ment to be a bloody poll and now I cant delete this, GRRRRRRRRRRR. The options are 1. Sean Connery 2. George Lazenby 3. Roger Moore 4.Timothy Dalton 5. Pierce Brosnan. |
Roger Moore
|
Sean Connery
he MADE the character and the standards it set also, I think that Hugh Jackman should be the next James Bond |
i'm just gunna go and say Sean Connery because like the only Bond movies i have watched have had him in them.
|
I have to do this before anyone else does since I have the smiley
Ha, glad to get that outta my system, you can all laugh at me now. Sorry, bondoholic over here. EDIT: Ok it's not working right now but, it'll be back soon. |
Pierce Brosnan. Goldeneye was the first Bond movie I saw and the only non-Brosnan Bond movie I've seen is Dr. No (been meaning to watch them on ABC but keep forgetting).
|
Pierce Bronsan. I liked Sean Connery, but I just think Bronsan is a little more "Bondish,".
|
Considering I have seen every single Bond movie. Oh it's true, oh it's damn true!
I would have to go with either Sean Connery or Roger Moore. |
sean connary, he is the reason bond even lived after the first few movies
|
Sean "you're the man now dog" Connery
|
Pierce Brosnan.
|
sean Connery, he's the man...and his face and his calm persona just suited the James Bond character.....well atleast to me it did. My least favourite was Roger Moore.
|
I'm going to have to say:
Sean Connery But it's very close, Pierce Brosnan plays an excellent james bond, he really suits the role. Many thought that after the world is not enough, that there would be a new James bond to play the part. Purely because Pierce Brosnan's contract ran out after The world is not enough, so people started saying who they thought would make a good James Bond. I even heard on the Radio that Robbie williams was interested, JESUS he would make a crap James bond. But thankfully, Pierce Brosnan is still wants to carry on being James Bond. And a new James Bond film comes out at the end of the year. Although i think sean connery plays the best James Bond (only just), probably my favorite james bond film is Golden eye. Tommorrow never dies i don't like, the plot just isn't plasable. The world is not enough was good. And the best bad guys have to Jaws and the guy with the razer sharp hat. Can't say i've seen every single James Bond film, but i've seen most. Perfect Stu, whos Hugh Jackman?? |
Purely Sean. As much as I liked some of the others, only Sean Connery truly seemed to fill the shoes of Ian Flemmings 007 with his great humor and personallity. I'm not sure how many people read the books, but Sean Connery was a fabulous choice who really seemed to grasp the great James Bond of the books.
I can deal with the Peirce Brosnan mvies, but much of that has to do with how hot I think he is...lol |

BTW the guy with the razor sharp hat was Oddjob. Yes... who is Hugh Jackman???? |
You're the man now dawg! :D

In my opinion, Pierce Brosnan makes a very good Bond, but to me Sean Connery is the best James Bond ever. Roger Moore was ok, but not better than Brosnan or Connery. As for Daulton and Lazenby, well even though both of them were only in one Bond film each, in my opinion they both made terrible Bonds.
As for Casino Royale, that isn't really part of the Bond series, is it? I remember a friend of mine, who's a huge James Bond fan, I mean he has the complete boxset of all the Bond films for christ's sakes. Anway he's the one who told me it wasn't really an official Bond film. Found out about it....I forget where. For another thing it wasn't in any of the boxsets he has . Oh yeah, I think my favorite film from the series is Goldfinger, maybe that's one reason why I think Connery is the best :D. And oh man, I can't wait to see Die Another Day. James Bond : Do you expect me to talk? Goldfinger : No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die. |
Timothy Dalton made two bong films, Licence To Kill and The Living Daylights.
George Lazenby starred in, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the one where bond gets married then shortly after that his wife gets killed by Blofeld aaaaaaaand... then they hired Sean Connery again. Casino Royale and a film called Never Say Never Again were made by a different company to the guys who make the official films> Never Say Never Again was made by a different company because of some kinda lawsuit from the film Thunderball, that is settled now though and the company that make all the 'official' acclaimed films owns the rights to both NSNA and CR. |

Hugh Jackman played Wolverine in X-Men...
he was also in Swordfish with Halle Berry and John Travolta and Kate and Leopold with Meg Ryan (sp?) He's from Austrailia, but he can do a perfect american accent, and an english accent is easier to do for aussies (from what I hear :sneaky: )....so...... |
Quote:
You would think so. The Australian accent originated from the English accent right? |

I sure have become popular, eh?
|
Pierce Brosnan.
Sean Connery comes in close though. |

J/K, you're cool. |
From best to worst, IMO:
1.Pierce Brosnan 2.Roger Moore 3.Sean Connery 4.Timothy Dalton 5.George Lazenby |
1. Sean Connery (he started it)
2. Pierce Brosnan (gotta like his smile:D) 3. Roger Moore 4. George Lazenby 5. Timothy Dalton (my best friend said he 'killed' Bond) I think that there are different 'types' of Bonds. Like Pierce Brosnan is the weapon-Bond, Sean Connery was the romance-Bond... :sneaky: |
Connery is the Bond God!!!!!!
Hey, that rhymes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm cool ![]() |

Now, a contoversial return to the topic...
I suppose my fave has to be Timothy Dalton. True, he didn't have Roger Moore's wit and was et down by some utterly appalling scripts. But as far as portraying Bond as I see him (more like in the books - a hard smoking hevy drinking man with several large chips on his shoulder), he was superb. If he'd have been given a script as good as the one for GoldenEye (which had tones of some of Bonds ****ed-uppedness in it, as well as the excellent Sean Bean) he would have rocked supremely. I just think Dalton was too good an actor for the scripts he was given. Brosnan is quite good, but not as funny as Moore, but he has some of the "psyche" stuff that Dalton did so well. Connery was OK I thought, but I just didn't find him to feel like the "real" Bond. Insert flame below ;) |
In my mind, more recent actors do Bond better than Sean Connery, but you still have to give credit where it's due: the man created the role. People in the future may play the role of Gandalf better than Ian McKellan, but that's not going to nullify the fact that Sir Ian made it a role to be taken seriously in the first place.
Now, I think that a lot of people in this topic are having trouble distinguishing the Bond actors from the Bond movies. I agree with sdtPikachu (surprise, surprise) that Timothy Dalton was a good Bond, but I really did not like his movies. Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough were, in my opinion, the best Bond movies (keep in mind that I have yet to see Man With the Golden Gun or Goldfinger), and I think that's why so many people like Pierce Brosnan. Well, he's also a good Bond, but not the greatest. I actually don't like Roger Moore for some reason. His eyebrow-lifting sort of puts me off. Maybe he's faithful to the book character, but I never read the books. |
I like a LOT of Bond movies... and I can't define who is the best.
But the worst is Dalton (by far) because he was too much of a pretty boy to be Bond. |
