Dear Professor S:

Why close a perfectly good introduction thread?

Boning up on the facsism I see?

Has this forum got to a point where people can't even introduce themselves, nomatter how kitsch their name/persona is?

Its the internet.

And as we all know, The Internet is serious business.

Its not like the board is overflowing with pointless banter.

And it lightens the whole nothing going on scenario.

Afterall, nobody has a problem with what GM posts, so why not let some random kid or adult have some pointless stupid fun on an internet forum as long as he doesnt flood it with mindless pointless threads?

EDIT: Why not close the diamond thread?

Me and Sony are talking about hypothetical sword and gun fights in the future.

Oh Noes! Not talk about the future! Repent!

The thread got closed because he double-posted. You know how taboo that is. Now it has finally come back to bite someone. People will learn, double-posting is strictly prohibited!

It got closed because Strangie doesnt like people pretending to be something they arent on the internet. (or so it came off as)

because everyone, everywhere tells the truth on the internet. Given that logic, Gamemaster has no feet.

Re: Dear Strangler:

What if.....he's not pretending :eyes:

But really though, why would you make something like that up just to relieve the boredom of your own pathetic, dead end job where all your coworkers went out to lunch but you can't because you have a plane to catch soon and so must stay to catch up on work? No responsible person would make up something like that, it would be wasting everyone's valuable internet time.

I really liked that thread. :(

If he says he's from 2342, why not give him the benefit of the doubt.

Because posting anything else on this forum is well worth everyone's valuable time? Perhaps people should stop writing books too ...or *cough* sims stories * cough* because to read them, let alone write them, would just be wasting time. ;)

If he's not pretending, then I guess Professor S will lock this thread too.

And who said he was bored at the job? Who said he has a job? Who said the person is a legal age to work?

Maybe he did it just because? Who really cares?

But Professor S reminded us all the valuable lesson, that the internet is serious business.

You cant get more serious than a forum about gaming, where conversations about diamond swords, shoes, and "omg, My post count is higher" threads run rampant.

Re: Dear Strangler:

Typhoid, or should I say "Che Gueverra of the Internet", I closed the thread because it was a waste of bandwidth and possibly the most annoying thing I've ever seen, next to your posts when you first joined. Call me Adolf "Capatin Censor" McStalinfascist if you want, but I feel I'm doing my job as a Moderator on a private forum and keeping the information contained at a certain intellectual level (however arbitrary that line may seem).

If you have a problem with my decision, complain to a Admin... oh wait, one already responded and he agrees with me. I guess your **** out of luck, then.

Have a great day. :)

Re-read what I said, but this time pretend it's Conan O'Brien talking. That should explain everything. I can't tell you anymore without spelling it out.

Private forum?

Last time I checked any random person on the street could sign up.

I dont remember signing any oath, or paying any hefty fee, or being the member of any club.

So why not lock the thread about shoes? That has nothing to do with games.

What about diamonds?

Or any intro thread?

Or any post thread?

Or any travel thread?

Or the music thread?

Or the art thread?

Seriously. Be a little lenient my friend. Its all in good fun. Its the internet, learn to take the stick out of your ass and lighten up.

And making a personal attack on the way I used to post is as childish as you call me. So I think if anything, we both have to grow up.

Since I'm apparently childish, I could bring age into this, and make some comment about how I'm not the 28 year old posting on a forum with adolescents.

But since I'm not childish, I shall make no mention of age.

Oh, and this just in:

Quote:

シ su·per·son·ic says: He doesn't have my admin approval

Thats Dyne.

Thanks. Have a fancy free day.

EDIT: Oh, and Phil, I sure dont wonder why the post count has been steadily dropping.

Maybe we went wrong when we apparently privatized this forum.

You have 24 hours to explain to everyone here what your problems consist of.

On your mark.

Get set.

Go.

Holy crap guys. I missed a lot while I was away for the weekend.

My thoughts:

I found the time traveller thread amusing. It was one of the funnier distractions around here in a while. The last one I can note was back in the day when Camfubot was funny.

I don't necessarily think it shouldn't have been locked.

But ALSO, (this is for you, Typhoid) while I can appreciate your stance and where you're coming from, you need to learn how to argue without sounding like a total douchebag. The way you argue pisses people off or makes them not want to listen to what you have to say.

Develop some etiquette.

Etiquette has no place in arguments, or wars.

Why do you think France never won after Napoleon?

You're comparing a scuffle on some internet message board to the World Wars? See, this is why you keep losing arguments. It's not that you lack etiquette. It's that you don't know how to debate, period. I've seen you in political arguments, and as a liberal, I would normally agree with what you say. But most of the time, I end up cheering for The Strangler (with whom I disagree about everything) to smack some sense into you.

Bahahahahaha.

So now its come to a point where I cant even joke with a friend? (Dylflon, who my post was aimed at).

Wow people, the internet is serious stuff. :p

If you read the post again, this time, try it sarcastically, it makes a helluvalot more sense.

EDIT: That post wasnt meant to be a defence in any way at all. It wasnt meant to be serious in any way at all. But the topsy-turvy nature of the seriousness on the internet at this forum boggles my mind. I cant even make a sarcastic lame joke, without 3 or 4 people taking it as the gods honest truth of it as a defence. Do I need to "bust" out ORLY the Serious business owl again?

Dylflon 10-24-2005 07:46 PM

Re: Dear Strangler:

It's not so much that the internet is serious...it's just that you sound like a jerk on it.

I sound like a jerk anyways.

And to be fair, your jerkness comes off equally as much. Jerky Mcjerkerson.

Thanks for the support on all the internet arguments, France.

EDIT: I mean come on, you know me in real life, you know I dont sound like a jerk. I just flat out am one. Everyone who knows me will agree with you. Except Phil. Me and Phil have good times. Never a bad time with Phil. :)
