Yesterday went unnoticed

Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of GameTavern, in case you were interested in knowing. I didn't think about it at all because I was too busy hating Valentine's day and dealing my enormous workload.

:bir:

Re: Yesterday went unnoticed

Oh man, 5 years of GameTavern crazyness. I still remember when it was just a teaser splash page. I kept checking back in anticipation of its grand opening. I was only an excited, naive youth just entering into my own coming-of-age story. Now I look back on the days of yesteryear as a wizened, subdued life force. The seeker of knowledge is now the bearer of knowledge.

Now I stand amidst my community as an observer, an observer of the next generation of gamers who are just entering into their own journies. I can give them advice and when they are calm enough to listen, I will tell them of my stories of the past and relic in the memories which fade from my mind like the youth and strength from my body.

An endless cycle. Spirits young and old forever linked by their common joy and passion.

Wow, I can't believe it's been 5 years. That's pretty good for an internet forum.

Well... nope. Gametavern always takes precedence over those. (Especially the second one)

Wow..surprises me its been 5 years already, heh.

I too remember the teaser splash after Nintendose split into GT and AGB, though only one stood the test of time in the end ;)

Re: Yesterday went unnoticed

Allow me to give a small recap of some of the things that happened at GT during these five years. ( the following events do not take place in Chronological order) and it's kind of long but should be an interesting read

THE FORUMS WAR ERA

Well after the split of Nintendose, they were two forums
GT and AGB.
Back then Crash was the person running GT, around this time we had the AGB and GT warz, where it appeared the members of AGB and GT weren't getting along. ( although some people where members of both).

THE QUESTIONING OF GM ERA

Well the FORUM WAR ERA passed, and new members joined GT, the one member that stood out the most was BAB, who managed to accumulate a large amount of post in a short time without being labeled post count ho. About this time Gamemaster's gender ( he was at the time posing as an Asian chick) and character was questioned by the same BAB ( and the questioning of GM's character still goes on even today http://www.gametavern.net/forums/sho...4&page=1&pp=15)

THE ERA OF STUPID POSTs

Moving along again.......back then there were intelligent post by members such as DH, Xantar, The Game, and yours truly *coughmecough* however that eventually lead to the era of " HOW COME WHEN SOMEONE MAKES A THREAD THAT REQUIRES SOME USE OF THE BRAIN CELLS NO ONE REPLIES BUT IF SOMEONE MAKES A THREAD THAT'S TOTALLY STUPID OR LESS ENGAGING IN TERMS OF THOUGHT PROCESS IT GETS OVER 40 REPLIES" but that's a painful era that should be forgotten and never talked about again.

Moving along again.......THE DARK AGES ERA

Newer members might not know this but at one point in time it looked like GT was going to be no more..........however this was not to be so, for a Hero arose during this time and pull GT out of the darkness, ( he also pulled money out of his own wallet ;) thx, we appreciate it) This hero took over from Crash (or was it Cam? ) and he is the person who now runs GT.....his name is NEO.........so under the leadership of Neo, GT flourished and grew, although there were some minor disagreements between him and Gekko. :p, I still remember the disagreement about the coding for the stars above the person's avantar

THE ONLINE GAMES ERA

Then there was the time of playing online games together and even forming our own online gaming clan, we played HF, counter strike and Star craft. I remember the days of beating people online at starcraft. :D Oh the joy

THE SOAP OPERA ERA

THis is when Shooter and his girlfriend were members of the forum and the members of the forum got a little more info about shooter's relationship than they really cared to. OH ZE DRAMA, after a numerous compliants and probadly lots of pray this era soon ended. I think either him or his girlfriend stopped posting.........there was rejoicing in the forums.

THE BAN WAGON ERA

To put it short and sweet, around this time xtreme fanboys, idiots, and people that didn't know how to act joined the forums and were banned immediately for they stirred up the wrath of moderaters and members alike.

*puts on scary music and starts to talk in a child like voice*
Sidenote : It's been said that the ban wagon still exist and if you break the forum rules or start acting the fool. Beware the BAN WAGON COMETH FOR YOU.

*end of scary music*

THE FANFIC ERA

This is the era where there was a fanfic craze going around the forums, the person who started this era was Xantar. What a wonderful time at GT it was

THE SHOCK and AWE ERA
(All info in this era may or may not be accurate)

This is the era where the forum members found out Bobcat was gay, Xantar could make short posts, Stu got a stroke from playing golf in the hot sun and almost died, BAB goes to college :p, Neo cross dresses and Jonbo298 looks really old (atleast I think it's Jonbo that looks old), DH actually likes taking pictures and actually takes pretty good ones for that matter, Jeepnut gets a Slave, this era still goes on to this day.

WELL THIS IS JUST A SMALL PORTION OF THE HISTORY OF GT...... BUT ALTHOUGH SO MUCH HAS CHANGED; THE LAYOUT OF THE FORUMS, ADDTION OF GAMES, NEW MEMBERS COMIN,G OLD ONEs LEAVING, THERE IS ONE THING THAT REMAINS THE SAME AND THAT IS...............

I'm STILL THE SEXIEST MAN IN GAMETAVERN!! SO DEAL WITH IT!!

THE END

I would like to take this moment to pledge my allegiance to this sanctuary for another five years. GameTavern has been here for the best and worst of times.

Here's a picture of the old style and reputation system. This screen capture was used to prosecute Ginkasa of reputation harassment.

Even I can edit this in MSPaint.

True, you can tell, but I mean, I did this in Paint. Not any high-price type of thing.

I suppose if love can be given a second chance, so can humor. Now it's time for me to right my wrongs...

It would have been but BAB was the first one to do something similar to you so the shock and awe of what you did, didn't really hit home. Sorry.....

Now in not the time for self reflection. This is about GameTavern. Please say something nice about it. The last kid who posted something about himself in a GameTavern Anniversary thread was never seen again.
