Problems with the board?
 

Has anyone else been having problems lately getting GT to load? For the past few days each time I come it is hit or miss as to whether or not I can get it to load. It keeps telling me the server is busy.

Is this a common problem or is it just me?

Yeah, i've had the problem for a few months too but lately it has been a lot worse. Like GM said, it has been about 90% of the time.

Maybe we can limit usage? :confused:

My guess is that it's some kind of error with Neo's hosting company. I mean, there's only about 15-20 regular posters. It can't be bandwidth consumption.

It is; the message is literally the fault of the server.

Last time Neo fixed it by getting rid of some database backups, I think.

No, that was because Bond accidentally re-indexed some things, meaning post counts that we manually added from previous forum incarnations were eliminated.

I (Angrist) did lose some posts when Neo got rid of some stuff.....

Anyway, I don't care if we lose some of our old stuff.

I've still never gotten this kind of error message you speak of, but hopefully Neo will check it out.

I did, once.

But there's so many times Typhoid will tell me about it and I'd be viewing it fine.

It's probably not because of admin-minship.

Yesterday was insane for me. I just couldn't get in and when I did was lucky to view more than two pages before it happened again. Today haven't experienced it.

Yeah, I just think it hates me.
I've been having this problem for around a year, and it does it at least 5 times a day to me. It even did it right before I made this post.
Sometimes it cant even find gametavern.net, but I think thats more of the fault of firefox.

I've started to think that its like a roulette. Everytime you press "enter", its about a 25% chance that you'll get on the site or not. Some of us are just luckier than others.

Yea, ive been noticing a lot of server busy messages the past few days or longer too...seems fine right now though.

LOL, yeah... I haven't had any trouble since I posted the thread. Although, it took about 3 tries this morning before I could actually post it because it was messing up. Guess the thread did the job.

Just to let everyone know, this issue has already been brought up and discussed by the staff and we are looking for ways to fix the issue. By "we", I mean Neo and other staff members that actually understand the innerworkings of server and hosting stuff.

I just carry the big stick around here and aggravate everyone.

i always get that server problem. and GT is always extremely slow for me, which is why i don't post often.

I haven't encountered this problem. Is there a certain time of day that you are more likely to experience? I can increase the allowed user load but it's already higher than the load should ever be able to get.

And that does kind of resemble the GT Elder gatherings, except for the tails... we have cloaks instead. And when we all walk in at the same time, the original Halo opening theme seems to play from out of nowhere.
