That's really awesome. I blame you for the following hour I spent watching Zelda Beta movies on Youtube though.

Man, Ocarina of Time is the best ever.

Looks awesome. But why make it for Halo? Why not make it for a popular PC game like UT or Doom or Half Life 2...

i have halo for pc, it's because the CE is ripe for modding....hl2 is probably pretty easy but we all know source sucks balls, and doom 3 just sucks in general

I'll agree that doom 3 sucks, but care to elaborate on how the source engine sucks balls?

i meant steam, source is pretty good, although i dislike how valve uses steam to charges 20 dollars for every new source mod....but i guess that give developers some mola

speaking of source, i know TFC2 is the shiznit right now, but this is just too f*cking sweet to not see:

i can't wait

I really need to play that game. Will I be able to get it separate from Half-Life 2: Episode Two?

Re: Zelda Ocarina of Time on Halo Custom Edition

you might, probably just need to install steam and pay for portal...unless valve is being anal but i see no reason why you can't get it if it's a stand alone game

Yeah but most people play UT 2004/Doom 3/HL2 so I figure thats where most mods would go. Granted, Halo CE gets mods but come on, zelda so needs to be made off a popular engine :p

yeah, that's true

halo actually has a decent sized community, it's quite an enjoyable game

I thought they used the Halo engine just because it was hilarious irony.

This thread reminds me of "your" character on Penny-Arcade. :p

usually they end up making it for a game like that because they're either stuck on how much they personally love that game, or because they started it and want to finish it still... or because its much easier for them on that game... i think this is a bit of all that...

its not really vavle doing that, (aside from thier own games) but its the people who make the mods asking for permission to sell em on steam. valve is just allowing it. and in some cases its good, others it kills the mod.
but none the less.. steam isnt bad... got some bugs and stuff they're still working out. but its so much easier for the most part. dont have to go wait in line in sites like fileplanet for updates and such, (i know theres others, but dont have to look at all with steam) I quite like steam actually.

and btw, dont ever... EVER call it TFC2, E V E R!!! its TF2. TFC was just a remake of the original, TF2 is not a sequal to a remake.. its a sequal to the original. :p

and would be hard to say which has more people doom 3 or halo... both are very very small. quake 3 is the more popular game on the doom 3 engine, and even it has a very small community. halo is odd because it has a somewhat small community of people making mods for it still.... yet and almost non existant community of people to actually play thoes mods.

I see many good things about steam and some bad things also. The auto-updating is great, like Null said. Also being able to buy the game straight off steam, after you have allready pre-loaded is nice, because you then dont have to bother going to the store or even installing the game for that matter. It does suck that you MUST be on steam to play HL2 and such though, which means you have to have an internet connection. Not a problem for most people, but I guess it could be for some people. Also it takes too long to boot up.

That was a problem for me when I spent a year living in Malta. I had access to a really poor quality WiFi signal, but some company ran it. So not only was it ****ty quality, but I had to pay for the ****ty quality by the minute.

HL2 came out while I was there, and I was able to give up all my other gaming except HL2. I just couldn't miss out, couldn't wait a year to play it. The good thing is, though, with Steam and non-online games like HL2 you only have to be connected long enough to start the game. Once the game is started, it doesn't matter if you're still online or not.

It obviously wasn't perfect. HL2 crashed quite a bit on my laptop, so to restart the game not only did I have to restart my laptop, I also had to pick everything up and go find the signal again.

Anyway, TF2 looks awesome. Is it out already???

Oh, and the bow-and-arrow Zelda multiplayer looks like fun. I wonder if that guy just has really good aim or if the game "helps" his aim a bit.

well, not exactly, you dont have to be on the internet to play HL2, you must have a 1 time connection to the internet in order to install HL2. but you can play offline as much as you want after that.....
you dont even need to be online every time you start it like mana said, once you've logged on once at install.... every other time it'll have a play offline mode. online is no longer needed.
which is its one downside, but i think what it provides far outweighs that flaw.

what you mean it takes too long to boot up tho? you mean for steam or the game? steam starts pretty much instantly. thats never bothered me, the game took a bit long, but once i got 2gigs of ram the game pops right in and out with pretty much no delay.

There's an offline mode?? How did I miss that... what is there an option you have to click for that? Because I know I tried starting HL2 more than once without an internet connection and it didn't work.

EDIT: Ok, well I figured out how to get the offline mode. I wonder if that was always there..... Dahh if it was, which I bet it was, that would have saved a lot of annoyance.

It was there from the beginning, but I had some serious issues with getting it to work until I patched Steam a few times.
