meeeeeeee

i'm still debating, possibly a redskins upset? and the bucs are iffy.

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

The Redskins are definitely interesting, with their current momentum and the impact of Sean Taylor's murder, but it's still very difficult to win in Seattle... especially in the playoffs.

The Buccaneers are suspect as well, but the Giants are even more suspect. Tom Coughlin is an awful coach and Eli Manning isn't a proven winner.

Also, I'm really not sure where I stand on the Redskins, Giants and Buccaneers. The Giants have played so bad through a few games, but they also did well at the end. Oh well, I'm hoping Green Bay makes it.

Bah, the Redskins played terrible today. On the plus side the Steelers are out. Now let's just hope Tennessee crumbles tomorrow.

That was quite a game between the Steelers and Jaguars. Thought the game might go the Steeler's way for a while there.

Damn. I really thought the Steelers would do a lot better. There goes my number 10...

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

This year's Wildcard is far more interesting than last years was. I was getting a little worried that the Steelers were going to win myself, it was definitely a fun game to watch. I really like Big Ben and the whole Steelers team...they just haven't had it in them this year. Maybe next year.

I can't believe the Giants won.

They shouldn't get beyond Dallas.

KillerGremlin 01-06-2008 04:09 PM

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

I'm surprised but not really...I was really iffy about the Giants-Bucs game and the Redskins-Seahawks. I was expecting the Buc's defense to hold the Giants to like 13 or 17 but yeah.

Perfect Stu 01-06-2008 04:19 PM

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

I didn't want to go near that Bucs Giants game...either the one game of the week I didn't bet on. That's why I put them as my 4-5 teams...and while I went the wrong way, I'm pretty much perfect this week so far.

The Germanator 01-06-2008 04:22 PM

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

I really screwed up the NFC so far, but my AFC should be fine presuming the Chargers win which they should.

EDIT: Though I guess I underestimated Tennessee again... 3-0 Titans near halftime...Most telling stat, Tomlinson has rushed for SIX yards on SEVEN carries and zero catches. Ridiculous.

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

Very interesting game developing in San Diego... especially with the injury to Antonio Gates.

I've never liked Philip Rivers too much, he's rather arrogant and not much above average, but I thought the Charger's defense would dominate the Titan's offense. Jeff Fisher is a superb coach though, and that is showing.

KillerGremlin 01-06-2008 07:38 PM

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

The Titans fell apart in the second half. I wasn't expecting them to hold that momentum through the entire game, it was a surprising first half.

As for the Chargers...I think they are doomed next week.

Agreed on Rivers...I don't see him play much because of the East Coast Bias, but he seems like a total dick. Talking trash and yelling when not necessary.

Haha.

Typhoid was the only one who correctly predicted all four games, and because of that is in excellent position for next week.

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

There are going to be 3 really close games next week, and the New England game.

A Manning vs. Manning Super Bowl would be crazy...and 99% unlikely.

I'm facing a dilemma here. I'm a native Minnesotan, but I now live in Madison, WI. Do I dare .....cheer..... for Green Bay? It would be so awkward. And I think perhaps a purple and gold lightning bolt may strike me down?

No.

You now live in the protective shield that is Packer Country.

Welcome. :)

That's very tough...I don't think I could EVER root for the Cowboys being an Eagles fan. Then again, moving from this area to Dallas is much more unlikely for me than your situation. Though I might move to Brooklyn/NYC sometime and would never consider rooting for the Giants/Yankees/Mets...It would would be sacrilege...

That said, the Packers are my second favorite team (Dad + Grandad grew up in Wisconsin) so I'm fine with it. Plus, Madison is a super cool town. Spent a few days there over the years and I like it.

Bond 01-08-2008 10:57 PM

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

Gekko is going to come here in a second and start bashing Madison... it's a nice city though, minus its skewed political views and wanting to protest anything and everything.

On a personal side note, I got to tour the Packer archives today. They have some amazing stuff in there. Telegrams from President Nixon to Lombardi. Lombardi's hand written speeches and plays.

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’

I hate the Packers because I am a Bear's fan...and I enjoyed the Bears ripping the Packers apart twice this season. Best two games of the year. But I also respect Favre a lot because he's just an amazing quarterback with great work ethic. The guy is old and he still goes out there and throws a hell of a game, so props to that. I like Tony Romo, I was fortunate enough to watch his first 5 games or so and he really grew on me as a rookie...but I hate the Cowboys and TO is a d-bag. If it came down to Packers Vs. Cowboys I would root for Green Bay. That also would be a very exciting game to watch...

I still think it would sweet if the Giants rallied and took the NFC. They are on a roll. What would be even sweeter is if the Colts took down the Pats...which could happen. Manning Vs. Manning...

it would be quite a Super Bowl to remember.

Of course, realistically, the Giants are gone next round, the Colts lose to New England in the Championship game, and life goes on. I wouldn't mind seeing the Giants beat Dallas though.
