Smash Bros Problem

I bought SSB yesterday, so I get home and pop the disc in the Wii. Immediately the Wii sounds like it's struggling to read the disc, so I keep playing as any excited SSB player waiting 500000 years later than other regions would.

The fmv starts to skip, and then the load times are extremly long. Also the music stops playing at parts of the game.

I looked at the disc, it looks........fine but a bit cloudy? It was in the shrink wrap and all grrrrr, I will take this back today. Just wanted to vent so thanks for listening

Re: Smash Bros Problem

I've noticed that with LOTS of discs nowadays, brand new out of the wrapper. They come "cloudy," as you said, which I guess is the best way to put it. It looks like the disc is warped somehow, but there are no scratches and it typically plays fine.

Is your wii horizontal or vertical now? Switching positions may help. There was a lot of troubles in here and Japan, reading dual-layer discs for the first time.

Re: Smash Bros Problem

The Japanese had the same problem, I think? Wasn't it a hardware problem, Wiis that couldn't read dual-layered discs?

It was vertical, I tried putting it horizontal and the same thing exact. You think it's a problem with the Wii?? Every other game works fine. Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Strikers, Wii Fit etc

Oh Check it out :- http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/rep...rm_us_ssbb.jsp

That sux if the above is the case which i think it may be

Re: Smash Bros Problem

SSBB is the first dual-layered disc, so other games might still work fine. :(

When I buy my Brawl tomorrow, I will check the disc for 'cloudiness'.

Re: Smash Bros Problem

I remembering reading about a small portion of U.S. buyers having issues but then they released a firmware update for the Wii which fixed it. Fortunately, my copy was okay.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Hope you switch that disc soon so we can play!

Angrist 06-27-2008 03:01 AM

Re: Smash Bros Problem

It's not the disc, it's a dusty Wii lense.

Ok, I'm going to pick up mine!!

Re: Smash Bros Problem

How come it's only for 'selected' wii's???? So pissed off. I told the nintendo helpdesk lady that I want compensation for my loss and I will get it god damn it.

I have to take my Wii and SSB back to nintendo........sux!

Re: Smash Bros Problem

SSB is the first dual layer game for the Wii. This is probably the issue. I would report it to Nintendo and see what they say. A lot of times with stuff like that they'll take it back even if it's out of warranty.

*Edit: just read your link, yeah I think that's correct*

It seems the "play Wii games online" fad is over on GT.

Well, to be honest, you kind of bailed out on Turok and now Aladuf and me can't even get past a level. :lolz:

Ive been looking to get Mario Kart, so whenever I actually find it (its unbelievably hard to find), I'll be down to play that. I'll admit I have gotten slightly burnt out from playing Smash Bros online...but I would be willing to try it again sometime.

:lolz: not even just one level... TWO levels! I can't believe we beat that other co-op level with such ease!

Don't do it Flunkie!
It's a trap.
Hell, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
And you are pretty high up on that list.

i have the same problem too... the cd just keeps clicking and beeping, so i just turn up the volume :)

Re: Smash Bros Problem

When I've played some Masterpieces and I go back in the menu, it takes rediculously long to load, something like 20 seconds. For a menu. :(

The game is great of course. But this morning I suddenly felt like "sigh... which character to choose now?"
I used to love Link (nice balance between speed, power and weight), but they messed him up.
Ike is nice though. Seems to have Link's cut power, but he's just a lot slower.

Re: Smash Bros Problem

My Wii is in Nintendo's hands now. They said they have to "clean" my lens and all should be good, free of charge (of course god damnit).

I still don't understand even if it is the first dual layered disk it's no excuse for it not to be working on my Wii. That's a very poor excuse, and I'm still pissed off.

More pissed off that Nintendo said they won't compensate me, where Microsoft eventually gave me a free game after constant hassling.

Nintendo and I are on non speaking terms

The brothers *last name censored* in Mafia.
Potential for cheating and lying and deceit. Is up.

And I have some clicking at times usually only when loadin games. Oddly the Wii can be my loudest console.

No cheating will happen, as I'm not planning on joining the next one. I don't even know if Night really wants to play..

But good idea :)
