Fallout 3
So is anyone else looking forward to this game as much as I am?
I really hope bethesda dont fu*k it up. My question is this. And bare in mind I dont get long to research such things, I am at work... :sneaky: 'looks around for boss' I have noticed three different versions of the game have been announced. Fallout 3 Fallout 3 Collectors Edition Fallout 3 Survival Edition Whats the difference dudes? Sh!t... my boss is coming... |
Re: Fallout 3
Hey Ric. :)
This is a message from Xantar: *throws a kipper at Ric* |
Re: Fallout 3
Ok.. I'm probably more excited about this than you are, because I don't care if Bethesda fu*k it up or not (it's Fallout!) :D
I also had a Vault 13 t-shirt made, and currently modifying it a bit to add the stripes :D I'll post pics when it's done. Anyway, the Collector's Edition comes in a Vault-Tec lunchbox, has a "making of Fallout 3" DVD, a Vault Boy bobblehead and an artbook. The Survival Edition (buy this one!) has everything the CE has, plus a full scale Pip-Boy wristwatch, and only available in the US, over Amazon (damn it!). I'm going to try to buy a CE. |
Re: Fallout 3
I am very much looking forward to this game. Love the 50s era feeling to the whole thing.
|
Re: Fallout 3
This game looks absolutely incredible, and I totally can't wait for it to come out. It's going to destroy any hopes I had of actually studying this year.
|
Re: Fallout 3
Its looking pretty good so far, especially with mutant chunks flying around. |
Re: Fallout 3
Fallout 3 looks like fun but I hate the art style and I wish that they just called it "Zombie Fallout" and made the baddies zombies....way better idea in my opinion.
The gameplay does look good though, and that's all that matters. We will see when it comes out I guess. |
Re: Fallout 3
What dont you like about the art style? I think it looks good. And theres not that much of a difference between zombies and mutants. :p
|
Re: Fallout 3
I don't know...I'm just not impressed with the art style. We will see if I like it when I actually get a chance to play it.
I think developers are JUST realizing the untapped nerd-potential in zombie games. Who is a nerd and doesn't love zombies. Zombies are pure win, and a zombie game where you have to survive in a post-apocalyptic world would be amazing. I'm waiting for the zombie MMO. It's coming. |
Re: Fallout 3
Ok first off let me say that I pre-ordered the Survival addition of the game and I have played the older ones on PC as well. I am extremely excited to play it and the videos on Xbox live look awesome. The only gripe I have with it is that it’s Oblivion with different characters. It looks like Oblivion, plays like Oblivion; it might as well be Oblivion 2. I liked Oblivion so this gripe doesn’t mean that I will not get the game its just kind of lame for such hype over a remake of a remake with new skin.
|
Re: Fallout 3
Pre-ordered the CE here. I liked what Oblivion did and can only expect Fallout 3 to make improvements.
|
Re: Fallout 3
I actually played this at PAX, and I found what I played really, really boring for the 10-15 minutes I got to play.
I'm still picking this up, but I wouldn't expect this to be GOTY material. |

Re: Fallout 3
I got to watch the developers run through a demo of this game at PAX and all I can say is HOLY FUCK!
I am so pumped for this game. In the demo, the developers stealthed a live hand grenade into someone's pocket, nailed someone's head to a wall with a railroad spike gun, beat people down with a hydraulic fist, and caused a nuclear explosion. Also, for attending the demo, everyone got a random prize. I got an actual hand puppet based on the vault boy puppet from the comic strip Penny Arcade is doing on the Fallout website. |

I think Fallout games tend to start slow (as do other RPGs, but I don't have much experience with them), so it's normal that it was boring. I think it'll turn out great though. |
Re: Fallout 3
Oblivion also started slow if you remember. In jail, walking through the old sewer fighting rats. Not too much excitement there either. But the whole 1950s era post apocalyptic thing is going to be cool.

Re: Fallout 3
Hey how do I link my Xbox gammer tag?
|
Re: Fallout 3
Put your tag in [x][/x] brackets. x="Gamercard".
|
Re: Fallout 3
Yeah, my friend gave me a puppet too. Apparently there were a ton of them.
My friend at EA said that Oblivion was boring in 15 minutes and magical and 5 hours. I don't know if I want to invest that kind of time but I guess it floats some people's boats. |
Re: Fallout 3
I have canceled my Fallout 3: Amazon.com Exclusive Survival Edition. I almost payed 50 extra bucks for an alarm clock! And the Fallout 3 Collectors Edition comes with a bobble head and a lunch box for 20 extra bucks, not bad, but who needs that crap. So now Im down to the normal game. Im at that point that Im not going to pay any extra unless I get in game content.

Re: Fallout 3
I can't wait for this game! I have pre-ordered the CE at EB Games. I haven't heard of the survival edition, otherwise i would have gotten hat.
I have played, and replayed Fallout 1&2 at least half a dozen times each, and i love them. Best RPGs ever made IMO. I don't think there are any RPGs with as many elements as fallout 2. Drugs, prostitution, gambling, slaving, mob families, so many options, so little time. I have a feeling still that Bethesda has screwed up the series with Fallout 3, but i won't know until i play. I mean, sure they might have kept the vast expanse of the map, the VATS targeting system, and the perks system, but they have changed everything else. They've changed the games from a top-down view to first person; they have made combat in real time; I'm pretty sure they took out everything i mentioned above; i REALLY hope they haven't taken out the humor. |
Re: Fallout 3
You can change the view from first person to third person at any time and you can fight in real time or use VATS for more of a turn based kind of thing, I think. And of course theres going to be humor, a guy wants you to blow up a town with an atomic bomb because its in the way of his view. :p
On another note, you can go here to watch a few vids about some fallout features. They are interactive at then end of the clip so dont forget to click around. |
Re: Fallout 3
Preordered mine last week as well.
Now I just have to wait:( |

Re: Fallout 3
I think that Bethesda can do some really good work with this game, but we'll see how they take a true FPS approach.
An FPS/RPG...rare genre in my opinion, but the few I've seen are fantastic. (System Shock 2, Deus Ex, etc.) I don't think the game with work too well in third-person. I never liked playing Elder Scrolls in third-person. Threw my aim off, etc. |
Re: Fallout 3
Yeah, Morrowind in 3rd person somehow was retarded. Also because the animation of your character was terrible.
|
Re: Fallout 3
Its official, Fallout 3 has gone gold. Which begs the question, why the hell cant they release it now!

Re: Fallout 3
OXM says 10.
I think I might murder someone of my 360 doesn't come back by the end of today. |
Re: Fallout 3
Going to get my copy before I go to school. The school day cant end fast enough.
|
Re: Fallout 3
I just got home from getting mine and still no 360. :(
I did however get the collectors edition which comes with a stylish lunchbox and a vault boy bobble head as well as a concept art booklet and a making of DVD. So I guess I will eat lunch out of my lunchbox and watch the DVD while I impatiently wait for my 360 to get back. |
Re: Fallout 3
Got my copy, just the regular edition. Now just have to make it through school
|
Re: Fallout 3
ARGH!!!! I HATE EBGAMES! (GameStop to you americans)
I pre-ordered the collector's edition about a month ago for PC. I get to the store after work to pick it up and they have a PS3 version waiting for me! that would be all fine and dandy IF I HAD A PS3!!! So they told me they could contact head office tomorrow and see when (and IF) they are getting any more in, and told me to sit tight. so after talkting to them for about 30 minutes and trying to convince them to give me the regular edition and then exchange it for me when they get my collector's edition in, and asking them to give me someone else's pre-order cause of their mess-up...they said no and i ended up with the regular edition :(. sigh...installing the game now anyway, it better be as good as they say it is. |
