The Pokemon Journal
I don't know... bored at work... covering the front desk with access to a computer and had an idea.
Like how you have a journal in the new Pokemon games to keep track of what is going on, I will attempt to keep a journal of my daily playing.. as much as possible.. it won't be daily and it won't last long, but worth a shot. With that said, I started my game yesterday and I picked a Piplup to the surprise of no one. I always go with the water-started and he is a penguin so it was a no-brainer. I nicknamed him EJ after my own nickname, and we are off on our adventure. We do the usual pre-game crap which takes like 20 minutes or so according to the game clock. I was lazy and my rival is named Gavin and he is an energetic little bugger. Anyhow, thus far I haven't had time to get into the adventure but caught the first 3 Pokemon you see. Shinx which I named Em after a girl I know who likes to bite people. Starly which I named Soro because the description reminded me of something I won't repeat in good taste. And Bidoof who I didn't nickname because I won't keep him in my party long. Right now Piplup is a level 8, Shinx a level 5, Starly 4 and Bidoof at 3. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
I think I might join in as well. I want to finish Suikoden Tierkreis before I hit up Platinum. So maybe I should start my own thread for this?
|
Re: The Pokemon Journal
I only got to play a little at work, but leveled up most of my Pokemon
Piplup is now at 12 Starly at 10 Shinx at 9 and Bidoof at 7 I met Gavin again and beat his ass, he went off whining of course. I had to search for 3 clowns to get the first part of my Poketch. I met some random travellers, and of course won. I HATE Abras... why do they even show up in the wild? They either teleport or... well teleport... right away. |

Also you'll be keeping shinx and starly in your party probably. They are two of the better pokemans for most of the game. Any more poke questions and I can let you know what is up. I'm the nerd who ev leveled his pokemans and all that stuff. I love pokemans more than anything |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
It was a big day for us, a few members joined our team including a Zubat which I named Bruce for obvious reasons I hope, a Psyduck I named Field after one of my residents who always seems to be suffering from a migraines. Machop which I named after Acebot's roomie because he is short but packs a punch and an Abra which I was gonna name after TSM for giving me the tip, but the sukowodo or lichitung are too good to pass up, and read the description and only person who suffers from using their mind and need to sleep for 18 hrs was Teuthida. :lolz:
We also won our first gym badge, the gym itself was pretty easy with only two challengers before Roark, but Roark kicked my ass... I should say his Cranindos did... the headbutt would destroy most of my time in one hit, it didn't help that his Geodude/Onix would use stealth rock which would cause damage whenever I switched in someone. In the end, we won and now we can equip Rock Smash to use. Also had my first run in with Team Galatic and my first Team Battle. Have the fashion case now. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Just FYI abra doesn't learn an attack until it evolves at level 16. Teleport go baby! But in all pokemon games pretty much he is the only psychic you can acquire for at least the first half of the game. Plus Alakazam is too cash not to have always. In the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald series though you get Ralts and he is straight up money. Gardevoir is amazing.

Then I'm going to farm berries to lower all of my ev's back down to train them up right. Also going for a 40 length chain to build up a 1/205 chance of getting a shiny mareep. It will happen. One day. :\ |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Pokejournal Apr. 10th 2009.
Dear Pokejournal, Today I almost caught a shiny Pikachu after 60 hours of trying. But I accidentally killed it! ;_; Well...another 60 hours to go, I guess. I took the bus to go buy some Chaos trading cards and there was this cute girl sitting next to me. I asked if she wanted to trade some Mons but she didn't know what I was talking about and said I smelled weird. Gurls are dumb lol. :p |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
BTW, if anyone else has platinum you can get the secret key to change Rotom's forms here in a week or so, either over nintendo wifi or go to toys R us:

Re: The Pokemon Journal
Well I just found out that EJ is actually a female... so that makes things a bit akward... yeah I wasn't really paying attention to their gender symbols until Vamp asked me on AIM.
But I guess I can whore her out to mate for me so I have Pokemon to trade. Also, I signed up for the Wi-Fi club and think went to the new mini-game area in Plan... I could be wrong... it was weird. :lolz: 4511 6657 2179 If anyone wants to add me. I'm in the bug forest, and since you have Cheryl with you to heal after every battle just going to use it to grind a bit. Got my Prinplup up to level 20. Staravia up to 17 and I think Luxio as well. The rest are at 16, and somehow still feel that they are underpowered. My team as it stands now Prinplup (EJ) Staravia (Soro) Luxio (Em) Kadabra, who yeah evolved and now knows confusion. :D (Dan) Budew (Toebbe) Machop (Smith) |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Also, if anyone has a female of the water or fire starter from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, I would greatly appreciate it if you could breed me one. In return, I can breed you a starter from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
Also, if you are lucky enough to have a female johto starter...I will make your wildest dreams come true. <3 |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Damn...you nerds are making me want to play pokemon again.
Maybe i'll pick up this platinum doodad. On second thought: is this a remake or an entirely new game? Is it worth it to buy this if I already have Pearl? |
Re: The Pokemon Journal

Probably not worth picking up unless you really feel like starting over but don't want to delete your pearl game, or you just really want some of the new pokemon available in it (like the legendary birds from Red/Blue). I will probably get it, but I'm a pokemon dork. :\ |

Re: The Pokemon Journal
Does anybody have the original starter Pokemon on their games (Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur)?
|
Re: The Pokemon Journal

In order to get the Red/Blue starters you have to trade them from FireRed and LeafGreen to Pearl/Diamond. The only catch is you have to have the National Dex in Pearl/Diamond in order to get pokemon from the GBA games. The only starters that are really a pain to get are the Gold/Silver ones. I think they can be unlocked on one of the GCN coliseum games, and if you get the National Dex in Emerald, you get to pick one as a reward. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
just to show how much I grinded during that friggin Eterna Forest
My team at the end Staravia LVL 20 Prinplup 22 Budew 18 Kadabra 18 Machop 19 Luxio 20 So I made my first trip down to the Underground. Never knew that existed. Dug up some spheres and stuff, and now the old man is sending me back down to plant them. What do they grow into? |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Three Dog, my mons would waste you if we battled right now.

Re: The Pokemon Journal
I have all 150 PKMN on Blue. And that means a physical copy of every one, not just marks in my dex. :)
All I got was this stupid T-shirt. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
I just won my second badge, and learned about secret talents. Maybe because I skipped like 2 generations, but don't remember these.
Like if you put a status on Kadabra, his natural ability also puts the status on his opp which came in handy in the grass gym. Also, I was so worried about being underpowered, I may have overdone it as I KOed the main Pokemon of the gym leader in one hit. |

The champion was a beast though. I didn't have an ice type to counter her level 66 dragon...I ended up leech seeding it, then user hyper potions every turn until it died. Torterra FTW. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
I think I'll go play Pearl right now.
|
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Yeah, Sly, if you want to send some starters my way, that would be slick!
I think I might see if I can borrow the GBA version from someone and play that for a while though. However, I bought my brother diamond, and if I were to start a game on that, I'd love to use the original starters to play with. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Remember to post your friend codes. :)
Mine is in sig. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
So we just gonna have Mr. Moogle pimp out his starters by farming babies?
I'm gamed. :) |

Anyhow, didn't play much last night because was attempting to catch Rotom, which based on speaking to people shouldn't be happening so soon, but he is only a level 20 so he fights into my team perfectly. As of right now I only have Pokeballs, Premier Balls, Heal Balls, Nest Balls and none of them did the job. He was paralyzed and only had one health. So how soon until I get other balls with a greater chance of catching him? I think I will just forego that part of the game for right now. Also, they re-did some of the gyms in Plantinum it seems. As I don't remember a giant floral clock in the second gym or maybe I don't remember well anymore. |

Re: The Pokemon Journal
I've been interested in setting up a Pokemon tournament where your roster is randomly selected and you have to work with it to make the strongest team you can.
Essentially all Pokemon final forms would be put in a list (NO LEGENDARIES) and using random number generator, each player is assigned 10 pokemon. If you want to use one of the Pokemon's earlier forms, that is allowed. All players know who the other players have on their list. The first two weeks would be comprised of everyone helping eachother get the Pokemon for their rosters, then everyone gets two months to train their team up (lvl 75 cap). The tournament is round robin, and you choose your 6 most suited to fight each player based on their list. Would anyone be interested in doing this? 3 or more people would be preferable. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
I would be interested just because a sucker for anything that gets activity :P
And the shinies ![]() |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
I'd do it.
Are we playing any particular archetype, or just anything below Uber is fine? http://www.smogon.com/ has a strategy pokedex with each poke's listed archetype |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Anything below uber pretty much. I have a list of all final forms (minus legendary) with an number attached to each one. So random number generator would select each group of ten.
Then it's grind grind grind. If we can get Moogle on board that would be sweet. And perhaps Combine and Fox would be interested. I leave that up to you, earl. |
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Well, considering I have a DS, and Pearl, I'm down for that - as long as I can get my DS connected.
|
Re: The Pokemon Journal
Sweet.
