Nintendo Press Conference
We pretty much know the extent of the 3rd party stuff for the Wii, and well it isn't on the level of 360/Ps3, Wii is finally getting some solid 3rd party support.
With that said, Nintendo has an hour to impress tomorrow with their stuff for both the Wii and DS. Nintendo: 9:00 AM PT / 12:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM GMT G4 GameTrailers IGN GameSpot |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Thanks for also posting the UK time. :) Dutch time is 6:00 PM.
Can't wait! What's the best place to watch it live? |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Well most of the live feeds yesterday sucked, about 10 minutes into the show IGN's starting working, and then it stopped, and then gamespot worked for the remainder of the show with a few pauses here and there.

G4 TV was a godsend, no trailer, no buffering, no problems. No commercials. So that is my first recommendation if anyone gets the channel. |

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Co-op Mario...Is the new? I haven't been paying enough attention...
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Ok, so what they did with Zelda: Four Swords, they're doing with Mario now. 2D, 4 player. Looks fun. :D
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Golden Sun for DS, now that's cool. :) Although the graphics looked weird. 2D sprites in a 3D world?

I wish thay chose someone else to present other than this woman, god is her voice monotonos and boring, I want to slap her!
EDIT: Upload your DSI photos to Facebook! - Zelda: Spirit Tracks playable (1 correct prediction ;) ) |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
A Wii finger sensor? Is he kidding?

Cool idea. Wonder if it could work as a lie detactor?
Oh not Not this bint again! New Mario... WOO! |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
A new everything except a new Zelda. Bah humbug. Still leagues better than their god awful show last year. A Mario sequel and a new Metroid are pretty badass. Golden Sun DS looks very cool. But they all won't be out till 2010? Kind of a bummer.
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Team Ninja's Metroid looks awesome.
Super Mario Galaxy 2... is well yeah full of win. The rest of the conference was them pulling their own strings, but honestly they did well. I still give the edge to MS for sheer bulk. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
So what's the deal with RE: Chronicles thing, does it play like RE4 or is it on rails or something?
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Quote:
Its an on-rail shooter. As is Dead Space: Extraction. Surprised didn't show Silent Hill Shattered Dreams. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
:mad2: No fucking Wii Zelda... Bastards!!! :errr: :baby:
Mabey at the Tokyo Game show  |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
It's the sequel to Umbrella Chronicles. On-rails-shooter.
Dead space looks more serious than I expected. The multiplayer Mario game looked like a lot of fun. It could really use a level editor though. I can't believe they didn't show Zelda. They're a bunch of morons. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
I was disappointed with lack of Zelda DS stuff too. I think that new Metroid game has the potential to be awesome, the trailer was pretty sweet. I don't know what to think about Super Mario Galaxy 2. Honestly I think Nintendo is just being lazy by making a sequel for it, especially in same console gen. It's hard to complain though since Galaxy is like the Wii's flagship game at the moment.
The whole press conference felt a tad bit underwhelming though. Nothing quite as eye-raising as what Microsoft had. The real killer though will be if Sony has something up their sleeve. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
I don't get why folks are upset they didn't show a Zelda, I guess not the biggest Zelda fan, but I may eat crow for this, maybe they haven't really nailed down a concept that would make Zelda as new and fresh as they wanted.
I was a little surprised at no Zelda: Spirit Tracks since I assume their big DS game for the year. What confused me the most was the Wii Vitality, like maybe they have some ideas, but they just kind of threw it out there without a proper introduction and I can't really see it improving any game or even helping create some new genre. Also shocked at no Miyamoto, which I thought they would save for their big reveal. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Am I the only one who did not miss the only Zelda news there was? Spirit Tracks is there ready to play for people at E3. We are gonna see it this year. A new video would have been nice. Mabey some cam jobs will appear in the E3 aftermath.

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
KG, you don't get it, do you? I don't care about Zelda for DS, we already knew about it.
We wanted a Wii Zelda!!!! They've been working on it for 3 years!!!! What the heck are they thinking? |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
I imagine the main reason we didn't see a Wii Zelda is because they are currently promoting Spirit Tracks, and it might be foolish to push two Zelda games at once. Like if there was a Zelda Wii announcement, who the hell would care about Zelda DS, right? And new mario and metroid announcements are pretty big things that they can ride on for now, my only real concern is that there isn't a whole lot interesting planned for the Fall on the Wii. I guess 2010 will be the year.
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Ok so where were the F-Zeros, the Star Foxes, the Pikmins? They should have shown more new games.
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Yeah, I agree with DarkMaster. If you guys haven't noticed Nintendo has been rocking sales this gen, and with the new Wii Sports title and improved Wii motion sensors....a new Metroid and sequel to the Wii's most successful game Mario Galaxy....Nintendo is going to be pulling in tons of cash. And isn't that the bottom line? Plus on the DS they have a new Zelda which will most likely sell like crazy because it is Zelda.
It wouldn't surprise me if Zelda Wii comes out at the very end of the Wii's console run. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Damn, F-Zero, I forgot about that one. Would've been awesome to see a new one.
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Seeing the Sony press conf had me thinking. Both Microsoft and Sony are big into motion controls. What they have looks good. BUT:
It will take years to come out. It will never reach a considerable audience. Not this gen. Nintendo has WM+ coming out in a few weeks!! And Wii Sports Resort in a month! That's really awesome. I can't wait for some fun WiiWare games that let you play around with the WiiMote+. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
I wasn't expecting much and I was still disappointed.
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
I just got back from work and read up on the conference a bit (still haven't had the chance to watch it), and basically a new Mario and Metroid game for the Wii and a new Zelda game for the DSi were announced?
Is that it? Were any 3rd party developers at the conference? |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Quote:
-NEw Final Fantasy, which I think looks fun -Dead Space Extraction -Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles -The Conduit -Some other stuff I won't repeat cuz it was eh -COP: The Rookie Also, Nintendo also announced another Mario game, Wii Fit Plus, the Wii Vitality (don't ask), showed off more of WiiSports Resorts, which looks like good fun a fan of the skydiving. And Zelda for DSi has been known since March. Also announced some DSi stuff like Mario vs DK with creatable levels and Wario Ware: DIY where you create minis. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
The Zelda DS game is Spirit Tracks. For all DSs, not just i.
|
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Well... interesting...
If I exclusively owned a Wii I would be a little disappointed that I was getting the spin-offs of major 3rd party games (Final Fantasy, Resident Evil), or just not getting them at all (GTA, Metal Gear). But I suppose some people enjoy that. |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference

WE get a Castlevania that is a fighting game and a Soul Calibur which is an adventure game. But you get the franchise, and honestly, I think Wii is coming into its own with 3rd party support now. Red Steel 2, the Conduit, The Grinder, Silent Hill: Shattered Dreams, No More Heroes 2, Murasama and they start to add up. And who knows maybe one of those has potential for future mega hit. And you also got to realize that Nintendo will always have some of the biggest franchises exclusive to them. :p |
Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Bond, check my earlier thread for a video of Zelda Spirit Tracks:
http://www.gametavern.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19777 It is a shame I had nothing to bump the topic with today. I agree that a new F Zero would be good. But there's one game we all overlooked, that we have not seen since the N64 days... Pilotwings!!! Where the fuck is Pilotwings??? Imagine the possibilities with the Wii motion. |

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Team Ninja + Metroid = win. I might actually have something decent for the Wii. Still I'll just borrow the wii from my parents or uncle or something and play the game because there wasn't enough reason for me to keep it still haha!

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Hm that's not how I felt at all. Then again, I was expecting a trailer of Zelda, and got some un-Nintendo-looking Metroid trailer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the game, but I have a bad feeling about it. |
