Borderlands

I know Combine first mentioned this, but its coming out next week, and seeing how interest is on the forums.

http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-...lands/17-1498/

Checking this out right now to get an idea of how the game is, but the idea of an FPS/RPG and 4 player drop in/drop out co-op has me intrigued.

What's wrong with cel-shaded games?

And hmm, how would you keep track of 500,000 guns?
I would assume similar guns with some variations and stuff.

And nice deal from Wally's World

Think I'll just save my money for L4D2.

And it looks like Futureshop follows Walmart like with AA.

Re: Borderlands

This like a one day only price? If it is i guess i should take advantage of it.

Combine 017 10-15-2009 08:26 PM

Re: Borderlands

Its probably a one or two day thing, like with Batman.
But ive already pre-ordered and paid for it at EB. But EB did the price drop for Batman as well, so maybe they will do the same for Borderlands, in which case ill just put the money I would get back onto MW2.

Combine 017 10-16-2009 10:54 AM

Re: Borderlands

There is also some DLC to come out before the year is done, titled, "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned"
So as the title implies, there will be Dr. Ned in this DLC.
And maybe some zombies or something.

Apparently, EB won't be dropping the price to match Walmart/Futureshop and now Best Buy.

They don't want to be bullied by Walmart's price gauging.

I should be. ho the Futureshop fler said 69.99. I wonder if the 39.96 might just be for online purchases.

Yeah, I picked up the 2nd last copy at my local Futureshop. The guy commented on how they'd been selling so many, but he had never heard of the game before. About to put it in as we speak.

I really did not think this game would sell out this fast.

Maybe nobody thought it would be so big so they didn't order a lot?

Re: Borderlands

Im playing it now and enjoying it thoroughly.
Using a revolver, sniper rifle and a shotgun, as well as a fairly good shield that also heals me slowly.
The only real gripe I have so far is that your inventory is limited, and while you can do things to increase the amount of items you can hold, there is no real place to stash your items that you want to keep or save for later.

Well I've found so far that you pretty much find a better version of the gun you are using or shield pretty much fairly quickly. It's kind of annoying there isn't a storage place, but really I don't need all the fairly useless weapons and items once the clearly better version is found after blowing the brains out of some shit.

I'm really impressed with the game so far. The art style is beautiful, all the random stuff is just awesome too, and so many guns already, earlier I had 6 pistols that were all the same stats wise and the only difference was whether I wanted the pink pistol or the black pistol etc. I was like "Awesome"

Of course I chose pink pistol and sold the others.

Ya but when the better weapons come along and your not a high enough level to use them yet then you have to keep it around until you level up.
And the weapons and shield I use havnt been bested yet, which is surprising considering how long ive had them, but its mainly because of their abilities more than anything else. I might not have the strongest revolver but every shot has added explosive damage that will take most guys out with 2 shots.

Re: Borderlands

I'm finding that this game reminds me a lot of what I thought a highly evolved PSO would have been like.

I'm actually impressed a bit with the class system and skill tree stuff. I just randomly woke up to play the game with my roommate and started a game as Roland. I quickly discovered the medic branch with him and it's bad ass. Healing based on a percentage of how much damage you can deal is an awesome idea. Sniper healing is sweet and so is shotgun heals. Lol.

I have yet to encounter a lilith player in online play.

Found today that this is sold out EVERYWHERE!

I was actually getting ready to ask if this game was anything like PSO.

It is looking so good to me right now...I think I might have to get it this weekend.

God, there are too many good games coming out in a short period of time!

Borderlands, L4D2, Assassin's Creed 2, new super mario bros wii, dragon age, mass effect 2...

It's a hell of a lot better than PSO if that's what you mean... Except everyone has guns and they're all 1st person. I'm really impressed with some of the stuff. I never play the healer class in any type of RPG and I am in this one because it's so cool. That's how hardcore this game is. It made me play healer.

What healer do you play, the Roland version where you can shoot people and use your turret to heal them? Because that looks awesome.

I bought the game today, but I have a program due tonight so I won't be able to play until tomorrow.

Yeah I play the roland healer.

I didn't know there was another character that could do healing?

We should all get together and play sometime.

I don't think there is, I wasn't sure before I bought the game.

I'm playing Roland infantry, I love my turret. I'm not finding very many good shotguns or rifles though, for some reason. Seems like every good weapon I pick up is an SMG.

Lol that changes later.

Combine it's: TheSlyMoogle01, I thought you did, but I don't remember your gamertag and I don't see anyone on my friends list who has played borderlands.

Re: Borderlands

I'm curious to know how others are playing the game.

I'm a level 15 Roland, right now mostly in the infantry tree but I think I'm going to diversify to pick up skills to make my turret awesome.

So far I've been playing through the game linearly, doing quests as I get them and leveling up via quest xp and the things I kill along the way.

Is this what everyone else is doing, or are you repeating areas in order to grind loot and xp? Without any online guides yet it's sort of hard to know what to grind, since I have no idea what drops what.

I've also only been playing 2 player co-op with my girlfriend and another person. It seems like random online games would be annoying, since if the other person is further ahead of you, then you can't do quests together, and it requires whoever is further behind to be host.

The Hunter has a class mod that can heal the team.

Thats only for the main story quests.
You can still do the other quests together.

Re: Borderlands

Wow, I wasn't sure if Lilith would be very good for solo play, but holy damn is she great. Elemental damage boosts are great, and all the Phase modifications(healing, elemental damage, chance for Daze, etc.) make her pretty useful after all.

TheSlyMoogle 10-28-2009 03:56 AM

Re: Borderlands

So I'm on my second playthrough of the game there are a lot of things that should be changed but I was overall impressed with the effort.
