Green Lantern
More pics: http://ifanboy.com/content/articles/...ainment_Weekly Not bad, but with his hair like that he really doesn't resemble Hal. I guess it's a good sign that's my biggest complaint so far. |
Re: Green Lantern
umm is this for real?
|
Re: Green Lantern
Isn't he already playing Deadpool? Just how many superhero roles does a man need?

Re: Green Lantern
I believe Ryan Reynolds is also playing an imaginary superhero in some romantic comedy (and no not making that up)
And here is Abin Shur |
Re: Green Lantern
Completely forgot about that.

Re: Green Lantern
they can't get enough of ryan reynolds, it might be because he's canadian

Re: Green Lantern
The posters look more interesting than the EW cover. |
Re: Green Lantern
Everyone's favorite Green Lantern |
Re: Green Lantern
Ugh, why must they constantly mess with a perfect design? Changed his most distinctive features.
And a fan's 3D interpretation: Now that's Kilowog. Reminds me of the interview with Mark Strong where he was saying they were trying to get Sinestro to have a long ponytail and different facial hair and he couldn't understand why they'd want to change him. |
Re: Green Lantern
This band is trying to get their Green Lantern-centric song featured in the movie/cd/album |
Re: Green Lantern
Cool! This is what I'm looking for! Awesome!

Re: Green Lantern
He's spot on. Liking the others too. Aliened up them a bit more from the comics. Surprised they included Rot Lop Fan.
In loudest din or hush profound my ears hear evil's slightest sound let those who toll out evil's knell beware my power, the F-Sharp Bell! EDIT: Pics got taken down above. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/08/...reen-lanterns/ |
Re: Green Lantern

Re: Green Lantern
Toys!
Seeing them in action figure form is creating a TMNT vibe for me, what with the alien heads on chiseled bodies. Good stuff. Oh and I guess can talk about the Green Lantern animated show since I went to the panel for it at NYCC. A year away but looks pretty cool. Translating Bruce Timm's style to CGI. Showed character models, locations, a test clip, and the gist of the story. The design sheets did look better in 2D than 3D but we shall see how it looks when finished. They wouldn't reveal who the voice actors are. Five episodes have been made so far. |

First footage of the movie. |
Re: Green Lantern
Is the guy with the glasses suppose to be Pie-Face or one of Jordan's brothers? Looks like college Ted from HIMYM.
Shall reserve judgment until I see the full trailer. |
Re: Green Lantern
I think the full trailer looks awesome. |
Re: Green Lantern
That's gotta be the closest thing to a superhero comic book in movie form ever made. Getting a Phantom Menace/Avatar/Fantastic Four vibe with all the CGI but I hope it won't feel like that when I watch. I do like how vibrant everything is though.
Behold, the greatest Green Lantern. ;) |
Re: Green Lantern
I bet that actor will be too ashamed to put that role on his resumé.

I mean honestly, it is an interesting role especially if franchise does well and he is in the sequels because his role gets much larger. And is it any worse than dressing up as a blue alien like in Avatar? |
Re: Green Lantern
Mark Strong as Sinestro is a match made in heaven. Definitely the thing I'm most excited about. And he got them to keep Sinestro's comic book look when they were trying to muck him up (or so he made it sound in an interview), so props to him.

Re: Green Lantern
Gah missed the boat on posting it, but seemed like my faith paid off, the "trailer" looks amazing!
|
Re: Green Lantern
I'm actually excited now - this is looking really good.

Re: Green Lantern
Looks pretty awesome. I'm almost certain, however, that it will bomb financially. I don't think Green Lantern is well known enough, the concept simple enough, or the real trailer awesome enough that the general public will have much interest in (especially compared to the slew of Marvel movies also coming out this year).
The best chance this movie has, I think, is for it to be so awesome that word of mouth carries it similar to how Batman Begins performed in 2005. Besides that, I would say the movie will be lucky to hit $100 million. |

Re: Green Lantern
I'm sure fanboys will dig this like crazy, but I honestly feel it won't appeal to a mass audience. The trailers are too busy and I think the movie is reaching too far for an origin story. All we need right now is "fighter jet pilot turns space cop" and it would be awesome. It can get epic for the second movie.
I'm sure I will enjoy it. I'm sure GL fans will eat it up. I just can't see this becoming a hit. I just wish DC could do with their properties other than Batman what Marvel has been doing with theirs. |
Re: Green Lantern
'Green Lantern' To Fulfill America's Wish To See Lantern-Based Characters On Big Screen And so far it's getting pretty bad reviews. I would say I'm surprised but sadly that's par for the course for DC movies than aren't Superman or Batman. |
Re: Green Lantern
I'm fairly certain this movie will suck ass, and not because of Ryan Reynolds, but because of CGI overkill and bad writing/directing.
Thor pushed my patience but won with a good lead actor and just falling back on sheer introspective campyness. In other words, if I see this...I expect the worst. Also, I have been Ryan Reynolds personal cheerleader for the past like 19 years. Despite how shitty Deadpool was in Wolverine, and despite how shitty this movie is going to be, I think Reynolds is a great actor and has potential. He seems like a serious comic fan, and I bet his performance is okay in this film and the beef is with other things. Reynolds = a good guy. I enjoyed Buried a lot. |
Re: Green Lantern
I enjoyed Green Lantern. It isn't the best comic book movie I've ever seen, but its far from the worst as well.
-I thought all the leads did a pretty decent job with their character. Sure, some will say that Hal wasn't completely Hal and Sinestro gets about as much screen-time as an extended cameo, but I thought all the characters were consistent in their roles. -The time on Oa/constructs, and really this is the reason I just want it to do well enough for a sequel. I expected it would be light on both since it is an origin tale, but it showed a lot of promises and I thought some creative constructs in the movie. -The costume. Aside from the mask. I actually thought it was pretty sweet and different. I liked how it glowed differently depending on his power output. -The Corps, granted, we only saw snapshots of a few of the members, but again something I expect them to expand in a possible sequel -Amanda Waller, I enjoy the character. While she didn't come off as evil/conning as her JLU counterpart, I do hope she becomes the DC equivalent of Nick Fury in these movies. Now there was a ton wrong with the movie too -The plotting/pacing was all over the place. I thought the scene with Hal's family was almost entirely pointless since they are never really seen again. I still don't know how he found Hector in the lab. When he went to Oa to beg the Guardians for help, but decided to do it on his own anyhow. -The mask still needs some work -A lot of the action scenes just seemed to be cut short. -The annoying best friend -For a world/universe that is so rich and different than most other comics, it was pretty much ur standard run of the mill origin tale. |
