That seriously sucks how you can't drink/smoke/go clubbing till ur 21. But it has it's good side. At least you won't get bored of it all when you're 21. I'm 22 and bored of clubbing now.

Here it's 18 for all dat. But I started drinking (casually) @ 19. I don't smoke, and I don't go clubbing much  I used to.

Perfect Stu 10-02-2002 06:45 PM

Yes, ciggarettes are baddy waddy and I don't see why anybody would want to start doin dat :-o

And while there may not be anything uber BAD about drinkin' or clubbin' or strip joint yoz, I don't see why people are like "OMG I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I TURN 21 I CAN GET DRUNK OFF MY ASS HAHAHA IT'LL BE GREAT!"

As for clubbin, I'd rather spend my time somewhere I won't get a headache... :-o

And actually no, Stu... Pogo the monkey rules... his final goal thing is to storm the white house with his friends and become president of the united states...

Yeah cuz y'know, you're attitude's gotta fit with the type of music you like, that way you look cool and fit in with everyone else who likes them.

And no, I've never been drunk... *shrugs*

And I'm not ANTI drug (except for the harder crazy stuff that gets you addicted and ruins yer life ;) ) or ANTI drinking (unless it's crazy heavy drinking all the time... And really alcohol is a drug... or could pretty much be considered one... or something), I just don't see why either is worth being like... "OH D00D I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I CAN LEGALLY DO THAT MAN SWEET!!1"

i don't think he's saying it's necessarily bad

and ahem, when did DH say he was "anit", er, anti drugs?

he's saying it's annoying when people are like
"YO SHIIIIT MAN I'M GONNA GET SOOO ****ING WASTED DOOOD I CAN'T WAAAAIT MAN WOOOOOO"

When people are like that it seems like that's all they care about, and if that's true, then I wouldn't think it would be worth my while to hang out with those kinds of kids.

P.S.: you throw up because alcohol is poison, and you've had too much. Your body is rejecting it. It's better to throw up if you feel the need, and get rid of the excess poison that your body obviously knows is gonna hurt you more.

I found that I can consume more alcohal than my 2 or 3 other friends who drank with me, most likely because Im quite a bit bigger, im 6 inches taller than any of them. Actually the one was close to me til he threw up...WO IM THE CHAMPION!!!!!!

...

but we werent in a contest really, and I havent drank in over a month.:burger:

but we were drinking some pretty potent stuff from what I understand...40% alcohal

There is a difference between being a fan of the band's music and a fan of the band's lifestyle. I am I guess what people would call a pretty strick Catholic but I still listen to several secular bands that I can gurantee do not fall in line with my beliefs.

As I see it however, everyone has a viewpoint or expierience you can learn from. You may not agree, but just because you disagree, doesn't mean you should avoid them. Everyone has a unique perspective of the world. I have found bands that aren't christian but have advanced my faith because of a viewpoint they have that has given me an insight on the world.

And the whole 21 thing. I know guys who do the same thing. My usual response is "So your excited because now you can legally do what you did every weekend anyways?

I could care less about alchohol. Granted I haven't had any so I don't have an experience to judge it off of. However, I have had people describe the experience to me and it sounds a lot like how I feel when I've been awake way too long. And I don't have to worry about a headache either. ;)

I have been to a drinking party. Didn't have any fun what so ever though. I'm sure you have to be drunk so as to understand the draw. Otherwise, everyone just seems totally stupid. And the stuff they are laughing like crazy about, make absolutly no sense whatsoever to me. Not to mention that there is also a lot of smoking at those parties and I hate that. Feel like I can't breathe.

I actually saw one group playing a drinking game. That was the one enjoyable part of the night. All the players were so drunk, that they couldn't remember what the score was or who won the round half of the time.

Morons.

Their main problem isn't that they get drunk. It's that they are so stuck, that they think that's the only way to have any fun. It's "This weekend is gonna suck if I can't go get wasted somewhere."

I mean give me a break, there is more than one way to have fun.

The Germanator 10-02-2002 11:02 PM

I'm actually very amused by drunk people. That may be the main reason I stay sober is so I can watch other people act like morons when they are drunk...I'm not straight edge or anything like that, I just think drunk people can be hilarious...that or really annoying too, that's when it pisses me off, when they are angry-drunk and stuff. boo. *drinks some juicy-juice* ahh, I will get drunk on strawberry juice though. :-)

drolldurham 10-02-2002 11:27 PM

NO THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE ANY FUN IS WITH DRUGS AND ALCOHOL....

just kidding though

i believe:

many kids who don't do drugs (including alcohol)
think that the only way for drug doers to have fun
is to do drugs. this assumption could be right or wrong
depending on who it is they speak of.

it's true, there are people who think that the only way they can
have any fun is to do drugs

but in my eyes, those two people i just mentioned are two extremes,
and since life is about balance,
i like to think of drugs and all that as simply an *accessory* to fun
but not a requirement

althought they certainly add a new factor to the fun you have,
it is in no way specifically necessary to have drugs on hand
and still have a good time

and yes there are times when people get together *just* to do these things
but i still don't consider them to be necessary ingredients in general.
and therefore I can respect both users and non-users

....that is all :p

i was at the beach with the family once
and there's a company that rents out beach chairs and umbrellas
and then they go out and some guy collects them everyday at 6pm
so this kid who worked for the company was taking this guy's rented umbrella
the guy was obviously drunk, and he starts chasing after the kid going
"HEY WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! GIVE ME BACK MY UMBRELLA!! WHY ARE YOU TAKING MY UMBRELLA"
the kid just explained that the rental time was over, yet the drunken bastard just kept on yelling and attempting to chase the kid down (although his state of mind kept him from running in a very organized fashion)

and the fact that the Drunken Bastard was also being an asshole to his wife and kids (i was bored so i watched him for a while) just made me annoyed that such people exist.

I hope I'm never one of those Drunken Bastards

Ok Clubbin' is where you meet girls.

Drinkin' is a good mix with clubbin'. Gives you more confidence talking to girls :stud: Not that you get wasted, but one or two drinks is good to have in moderation. It helps relieve the stress of the working life.

Just as long as you remember IN MODERATION.....you'll be fine!

http://paranoia.lycaeum.org/marijuan...arijuana-myths

Quote:

Smoked marijuana contains about the same amount of carcinogens
as does an equivalent amount of tobacco. It should be remembered,
however, that a heavy tobacco smoker consumes much more tobacco
than a heavy marijuana smoker consumes marijuana. This is because
smoked tobacco, with a 90% addiction rate, is the most addictive of
all drugs while marijuana is less addictive than caffeine.
Quote:

This is one of the more persistent myths. A real world
example of what happens when marijuana is readily available can be
found in Holland. The Dutch partially legalized marijuana in the
1970s. Since then, hard drug use -- heroin and cocaine -- have
DECLINED substantially. If marijuana really were a gateway drug,
one would have expected use of hard drugs to have gone up, not
down. This apparent "negative gateway" effect has also been
observed in the United States. Studies done in the early 1970s
showed a negative correlation between use of marijuana and use of
alcohol. A 1993 Rand Corporation study that compared drug use in
states that had decriminalized marijuana versus those that had not,
found that where marijuana was more available -- the states that
had decriminalized -- hard drug abuse as measured by emergency room
episodes decreased. In short, what science and actual experience
tell us is that marijuana tends to substitute for the much more
dangerous hard drugs like alcohol, cocaine, and heroin.
Quote:

A recent survey by Dr. Patricia Morgan of the University of California at Berekeley found that a significant number of pot smokers and dealers switched to methamphetamine "ice" when Hawaii's marijuana eradication program created a shortage of pot. Dr. Morgan noted a similar phenomenon in California, where cocaine use soared in the wake of the CAMP helicopter eradication campaign. The one way in which marijuana does lead to other drugs is through its illegality: persons who deal in marijuana are likely to deal in other illicit drugs as well.
Quote:

The most celebrated study that claims to show brain damage is
the rhesus monkey study of Dr. Robert Heath, done in the late
1970s. This study was reviewed by a distinguished panel of
scientists sponsored by the Institute of Medicine and the National
Academy of Sciences. Their results were published under the title,
Marijuana and Health in 1982. Heath's work was sharply criticized
for its insufficient sample size (only four monkeys), its failure
to control experimental bias, and the misidentification of normal
monkey brain structure as "damaged". Actual studies of human
populations of marijuana users have shown no evidence of brain
damage. For example, two studies from 1977, published in the
Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) showed no
evidence of brain damage in heavy users of marijuana. That same
year, the American Medical Association (AMA) officially came out in
favor of decriminalizing marijuana. That's not the sort of thing
you'd expect if the AMA thought marijuana damaged the brain.
*cough*

http://paranoia.lycaeum.org/marijuan...mythology.html

... Now is anybody gonna even bother to read all that?

I could easily go find a billion more places that say the same things... so could drolldurham...

It is a drug, duh... But then again so is Alcohol and Cigarettes, really... And cigs are even more dangerous... hell, alcohol is just as bad, maybe even more dangerous... and yet Cigs and Alcohol are legal and Marijuana isn't? 'Zat make sense to you? And because people believe all these false things, they're stubborn to believe otherwise when they hear it... "Don't believe everything you read on the internet" well:

a: They get their information from various studies and medical books (which I would think got their information from research and studies) and even list the sources...

b: Don't believe everything the government crams down yer throat... :-o

Quote:

In the early 1970s, U.S. President Nixon appointed a
"National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse" (the
"Marijuana Commission") to study cannabis and its effects on
social and individual health. He may have expected it to report
back that marijuana was a deadly threat. Instead, it
recommended decriminalization: that users be fined but not
imprisoned. Nixon ignored the Commission's results and
instead declared a "total war on dangerous drugs".
