Here is the main article: http://www.msnbc.com/news/917011.asp

This is from the June 2 issue of Newsweek.

did you know that out of that entire list there is only one school name for iowa!!!!!!! all of the others are mainly from the east and west coasts, that sucks... do they not think iowa is good enough to be on that list :(

TheGame 05-29-2003 01:25 AM

My school was too good for that list :sneaky:

One Winged Angel 05-29-2003 01:27 AM

I'm actually suprised my schools on there. I hate my school... it's too damn hard.

Valedictorian graduated with a 4.81 O.O

DeathsHand 05-29-2003 01:42 AM

9 . H-B Woodlawn | Arlington | Va. | 3.961

That's my friend's school...

23 . Yorktown | Arlington | Va. | 3.422

That's the school some of my other friends go to...

28 . Washington-Lee* | Arlington | Va. | 3.192

That's the school I'd be going to if I went to public school and couldn't get into H-B Woodlawn...

Arlington is quite swell...

bobcat 05-29-2003 06:45 AM

My schools there! Number 10

BlueFire 05-29-2003 08:03 AM

My school's a Catholic School.. Are there any religious schools there? lol

Xantar 05-29-2003 10:34 AM

Private schools aren't on the list. That's why my high school isn't there.

You can find my college on the U.S. News and World Report list, though. :D

Tombor 05-29-2003 12:45 PM

A buddy of mine graduated from their

628 . Centerville | Centerville | Ohio | 1.126

My high school isn't on the list :( but when I went their we won an award calling us a "Presidental Blue Ribbon School of National Excellence" I think. Our principal met President Clinton. Guess that holds no weight now.

gekko 05-29-2003 01:04 PM

Nope, private school.

Ginkasa 05-29-2003 02:13 PM

haha.. you're a fine example of your high school's work ;)

And about my school, maybe it's also private

marionette 05-29-2003 03:02 PM

nope, mine's not up there. One reason could be that we're only a second year school, but the other reason could be because we're...simply not up there

ZebraRampage 05-29-2003 05:46 PM

My school got the National Blue Ribbon thing too in 1999, 2000, and 2001 in Pennsylvania, but it's not up there.

Stonecutter 05-29-2003 06:29 PM

342 . Glenbrook North | Northbrook | Ill. | 1.502

LMAO

627 . Maine Township South | Park Ridge | Ill. | 1.126

^My cousins all went there, as did my history teacher, Hilary Clinton and Harrison Ford.

Darn you DeathsHand! You live near some of the best schools in the country and you don't even bother to attend them!

;)

The Germanator 05-29-2003 10:13 PM

Damn, I think my school would be in the top 50 if this included private schools.

GameKinG 05-30-2003 12:02 AM

Go Palos Verdes and Beverly Hills! I have friends who go to both of those. I got to private school, Im not on there...

DimHalo 05-31-2003 11:04 AM

333 . Palmer* | Colorado Springs | Colo. | 1.517

That is my first high school. I am shocked that the school I graduated from is not on there.

But of course, it was kind of considered to be a private school so maybe its not allowed to be on the list.

Kitana85 06-01-2003 07:03 AM

That list doesn't say what the best schools are--- it says which schools dumb down their AP programs enough for the averege student to take them-- the public school I used to attend, is great, incredible SAT's, wonderful education, but they only let kids into AP's who they feel can do well in a class that truly is on a college level... not just anyone who feel like taking it.

Xantar 06-01-2003 11:35 AM

Well remember, Kitana85, that the list gives scores according to how many people get passing grades on the AP. I personally think that should mean grades of 4 or 5 because getting a 3 is really quite easy to do. But the list does have some standards.

I agree on that one. I got a three on the English grammar AP and I wasn't in an AP class and didn't study for it at all.

How about finding out the 100 WORST high schools in America. that would be more interesting. I know Erasmus(Brooklyn) would definitely be in the top 10.
