New Mario Golf Screens and Info

For a game that is supposed to be released in less than a week, it has been pretty low-key thus far. Anyhow, Nintendo has opened the official site for the game, which can be found at http://www.mario-golf.com/ .

It features some pretty cool screens and what looks like a very Mario-inspired scoreboard.

They also talk about the character who may appear in the game as well as the different modes of play such as the conventional course and the Mario-themed one. And I believe they did this with Mario Tennis, not sure about Mario Golf, but the online scoreboard.

Dyne 07-22-2003 11:23 AM

Yeah, I played the demo of it the first day it was out. I thought it was old but when I logged on later that day I found out it had been shipped that day. I was suprised.

It feels weird next to the old Mario Golf. But online leaderboards? Is that going to use the BBA/Modem or is it just a webpage where people admit times for completing courses and stuff? I really, really, really hope it's the former.

That's just from one of the training modes. They're not there in a normal game.

The rings are quite cool actually. You have to clear all of them and finish at par to pass a ring stage. Once you beat all of them you can probably unlock another character (like in MG64)

same. I want Mario Tennis badly.

Best tennis game going round

Seth 07-24-2003 04:08 AM

Ya, i'd rather have tennis now...but whatever.

I think Camalot's put off production of that game for awhile to make MG and some ****.

I hope Mario Golf's a 9+ game. Planning on getting it.

Re: New Mario Golf Screens and Info

I'm wanting this game now after seeing these screens. I keep forgetting Mario Golf is out next week. Why must Nintendo stay low-key like BaB said. But these screens are very nice. I wonder why the grass looks so "cheesy" in a few of the pics. I figured if that was in the rough area, there would be more:unsure:

I loved Mario Tennis, but this looks good as well. I'll pick up a copy soon, along with Outlaw Volleyball.

I played it at Target a couple days ago. It's fun, fun, fun!

I guess you say this game is a hole in one! ;)

How is it that you go through life without getting beat up every single day?

Dyne 07-28-2003 03:59 AM

ROFL, looking back at this is like nothing. Quality time, my friends, is getting it DAYS before it's out from a good hookup (none other than Tycho, from Penny Arcade!) to play the full version while people still look at screenshots!

You probably want to hear my opinion now. Well, I think it definitely warrants a purchase. It's probably one of the least hyped games out right now but it's the best. After one round, I'm sold.

Suck it down, bitches!

Oh yeah, I was Yoshi. I kicked all everyone's ass.

Mario Tennis is still planned to come.

Also, according to the target ad, there is a bonus you get in the game if you buy the game at target called something like a taget tour. The best I can make of it is a small bonus you get. If anyone buys it at target, tell me what it is.

Dylflon 07-28-2003 01:57 PM

I also played it at the con. I was Luigi of course. It was uber fun. It deserves at least a rental.

magus113 07-28-2003 04:43 PM

the game looks interesting but ive only played pario tennis on the N64 which was really good IMO. I used to rent it like for 3 weeks at a time.

Mario Golf looks good tho. I may try it out when I get the oppurtunity.

*off topic*
Those TV screens of the game I noticed something I never even thought of before. Color coded Wavebirds! Since me and my friends sometimes play with 3 Wavebirds, it gets confusing finding player 1,2,3 before starting a game. *goes gets a pack of the colored ring things*

*On Topic*
I'll assuredly get the game now after what you said Dyne. I've been wanting to get it, but I haven't seen many reviews (unless I havent looked around yet). But thanks for the input!

GameMaster 07-28-2003 09:37 PM

Re: New Mario Golf Screens and Info

You don't need color coded rings, you just switch the dial on the controller to match one of the receivers.

Jonbo298 07-28-2003 11:54 PM

Re: New Mario Golf Screens and Info

But it takes too much time to do that. Looking at colors is better then looking at numbers. *Good ol' Kindergarten*

gekko 07-29-2003 11:06 AM

Re: New Mario Golf Screens and Info

No, no. Take one Wavebird, turn it on, and it will make connection with its reciever. One of the recievers will light up, and you can tell which one it is. Then do that for the second.

Hero2 07-29-2003 01:32 PM

Re: New Mario Golf Screens and Info

but the colors are colorful and yea colors rule

gekko 07-29-2003 02:59 PM

Re: New Mario Golf Screens and Info

Then why not just buy colored Wavebirds?

Dylflon 07-29-2003 06:45 PM

On screen 2 the score is +12. I want to let everyone know that that's NOT ME!

I switched off with this other guy to go do something else.

Wow, I'm going to see a difference. Lets import and waste more money when I could just use a dollar or 2 and get something more useful:p

You don't notice a difference between the color of the Wavebrd and a Platinum GC?
