GT RPG

I once had this idea of creating a game, based off of GT, with RPG Maker 2000. I actually did start it once... but I quit shortly after. Now with the almighty Rpg Maker 2003, I once again have incentive to make an RPG about GT.

The problem is, I don't have anything to work with which will end up in a lack of enthusiasm. So basically... I'd like people to post their ideas, even post what type of person you'd like to be in the game. Mainly right now I'm looking for story ideas.

How will everything work? Well, basically, GT will be like a country in a fantasy world. The Sony people will be stuck in one area, the Xbox people in another, and the Nintendo people in another area, and, with a converging central town that does not have nay type of bias. It will be something along the lines of that, you get the point. Basically, being the main character, you will be able to recruit GT people at will and use them in your party for various purposes. No GT person will actually be the main character, you, as the player, will have to name him and you can choose whatever you want.

I have some good geography ideas, but I need ideas for a story. Anything at all would help. Please take note that this could take several months to complete, and in the mean time I will post screens and give out demos as I go along.

I would say the release date would be late November/Early December. The first demo should be avilable by the end of September, providing that you people give me ideas.

I'm trying to make something that GT members will enjoy, something good that will have many inside jokes and twists that only GT members would enjoy.

Once I get enough ideas, I will make another post with an overview of what I have so far, and I will try to work with that. Please only post serious ideas.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that RM2k3 is a PC game.. and when I create the game disks, they will be available to everyone.

Ginkasa 08-18-2003 10:25 PM

So are you planning on have the "console countries" fight each other? Or are you going to have a seperate enemy?

Anyway, of course you have to have a tavern in there named "Game Tavern" that is central to the story.

I don't know if you're planning to or not, but try not to take the game seriously. What I mean is, don't try to make some dramatic Final Fantasy type story with those occasional "inside jokes and twists" for members. It should be a comedy type game with jokes attacks and stuff. Nothing too serious.

You should probably check with the members a lot and tell them the type of scenes they're going to be in. If they approve. And make sure that they want to be in the game. You don't want to offend anyone.

Also, I have a request. If you make me a character in the game, I ask that you either have my character

a) have a *shrugs and walks away* attack
b) *shrugs and walks away* everytime he stops talking (in dialogue or if you can get the sprite to actually shrug and walk away do that)
c) both

*shrugs and walks away*

Re: GT RPG

well two ideals come to mind
one the gt'er that cant decide whitch side to go on
two the gt'er that has been forced to love one system but regreably loves a nother just as much
dont forget about the reaccuring duffman he can be the villian and of course the mods as the all powerfull leauge of heros out to fight duffman and his leauge of of the banned roaming the world leaving a trail of caos thru the world of nintendo and ruling in the land of sony and the powerfull army of microsoft with all its money builds defences and waits for nintendo to fall... or somting like that

Crono 08-18-2003 10:49 PM

Ginkasa, my plan isn't to make a dramatic game like FF. That would take a bit too much work. It's supposed to be a fun game with a story that most Gters should enjoy... nothing serious. And... the "console" areas won't be their own countries... mainly just their own administrative divisions, but the GT... uh... Empire I guess (with Neo as Emperor...) would be the head of the entire area. That was my original plan anyway... if you have other ideas please let me know.

Of course I don't want to offend anyone here... that is why I will later ask for everyone who wants to be in the game post what type of character they'd like to be... And about the shurgs and walks away thing... I will have to learn how to make custom techniques. I will try to, I am already working on a Custom Battle System. It will be a duel system. Basically it's like a rock/paper/scissors format... But instead it would be "Attack", "Defend", and "Desperate Attack". I will give more details later.

Heh, and Hero2... I'm looking for something different than what you said.... heh.

Dylflon 08-18-2003 10:50 PM

I was going to write a fanfic but I'd gladly put that on hold to write a story for you.

If you want me in the game, I can be a transportation expert. Also, I could recharge health by drinking Pepsi.

I will think of a story.

Re: Re: GT RPG

Do we have to assign ourselves to a console or we can we just roam freely among the entire land.

Dylflon 08-19-2003 12:06 AM

Pick a console unless your COMPLETELY unbiased.

It would be good to choose a console though.

I will be writing the story. I already have some ideas.

(and there will be inside jokes aplenty.)

Here is the main one I'm leaning towards:

There are two continents. The console continent is comprised of 4 nations. The Nintendo Alliance, The Republic of Playstation and The Xbox Federation and Gametavern. There is also one secret nation that will be revealed to you only when you play the game.

Gametavern is a merchant town. It is filled with many shady characters. It is where all the decisions that concern the Console continent are made. The people there are pretty much unbiased when it comes to video game systems.

Nintendo, Playstation and Xbox dislike eachother and are constantly at war with one-another.

The other continent is the PC continent. They are a united continent with one goal in mind: to take over the console continent.

They deploy their new Phantom army to try to overtake the console continent.

You as the main character must unite the 3 consoles to fight off this new threat.

Hijinks ensue.

Jeepnut, you can be a ship captain pirate guy.

Thanks.

I had an idea for the game and now I can't remember it. Nuts!

Can I lead an Underground Mac Society that is fighting against the PC Continent, but is not in alliance with the consoles. Kind of an independent, rogue type of group. :D

jeepnut 08-19-2003 12:24 AM

And the cause of the war will be because people kept secretly stealing reputation points...

or not.

Sure.

Rndm_Perfection 08-19-2003 12:41 AM

I'll be one of the many refugees from a distant continent called "GCC" that happens to travel to the console continent after the GCC fell to civil war, heh.

I'll be the "wanderer" of the game, wooh. I'd travel between continents, be difficult to recruit, and my motives will often be difficult to see.

As for the actual RPG, I'll post what ideas come to me, and I'll also help you create it, of course. ¦¬Þ

Uh...I'd like not to expand peoples or territory any farther.

But maybe you could pick a console or PC or be neutral or whatever.

Take your pick.

Re: GT RPG

"Now with the almighty Rpg Maker 2003, I once again have incentive to make an RPG about GT."

This a PC game?

Anyway... I would like to be a key protaganist.... one with power, who is only respected by other people with power and hated by pretty much everybody else... a backstabbing asshole ;)

Nothing like myself, right? :sneaky:

Story ideas? Well, my favorite concept is when you have a job to do, and you think you know why you are doing it, and within the last few hours of the game you relize that you were either tricked into doing somthing bad, or at least doing somthing you would have never done had you had all the details from the start... or the main character relizes he/she isn't who she thought he/she was.

I dunno why, but stories like that strike my interest a lot...

I will write more detailed ideas and PM them to you within the next week...

Dyne 08-19-2003 01:55 AM

I remember how much fun I had with the old RPG makers years ago.. wish I had the time to sit down and help you with this, but I don't =\.

Hmm, I don't know what I'd be.

Would there be a colony of old-skoolers? That could be where all the old people live.

It would be cool if you could model the story after KOTOR, somewhat. Have ways you could lean to the Xbox side, the PS2 side, the GCN side, or neutral. That could pose for some interesting "hijinks". Like, different endings and different party member chances.

And oh yeah, let me to be the first to call being the MAGUS of the story!

Rndm_Perfection 08-19-2003 02:14 AM

I conclude that, with everyone giving input, the release date for this RPG (assuming it WILL be finished) is going to be pushed back to Q3 2008.

I can be the resident Nintendo fanboy along with Jason1:p I don't have much for a background to my character, but it could involve an old rivalry I had - Joeiss.

Crono 08-19-2003 09:05 AM

I've seen a number of good ideas, keep them coming.

And Dylflon, I think Rndm meant that GCC wont be explorable, but will just be talked about, because there are several people here from that site.

At this rate I should have a good idea of what the story should be, then Dylflon and I will talk on MSN and see what we can do.

I'm thinking of doing a Suikoden-style recruit system. Which means, there is a headquarters, and as you recruit people they take up certain roles in the HQ. Example:
Jonbo is the Innkeeper at Nintendo Town. You want an Inn at your castle hq because it'll be easier, so you go to Nintendo Town and recruit Jonbo. He then creates an Inn within your headquarters for you to use at any time. Other recruitable positions could include Item Shop Keeper, Weapon/Armor Shop Keeper, and so on.

I'm also working on a custom battle system (CBS) which will allow for special duels between two characters. Basically it uses a rock/paper/scissors format. Instead, it's Attack/Defend/Desperate Attack. Defend beats Desp Attack, Attack beats Defend, Attack and Attack are equal, and Desp Attack beats Attack. There won't be any magic or anything, just two characters facing off in a one-on-one duel.

Also, the main character will be a new person to GT. He will be nameless as I said before. Basically the character arrives at GT, but finds out that not everything is whta he expected... or something like that.

EDIT: Also, when people talk, their face icon appears beside their text. Everyone will get to have their own icon (it has to be an actual character, not some logo or anything). But I will ask for that later, but I just thought I'd let you know now.

And one final thing... I can import character sprites, so if theres a certain character from another rpg you'd like to be then let me know. Also let me know what role you'd like to take in the Casle HQ... so far I can think of:
Innkeeper
Item Shop Owner
Weapon Shop Owner
Armor Shop Owner
Pub Owner
Gardener
Chef

Not everyone will have a specific role, mind you. Only a few people can do this. It's nothing special really, I just don't recommend you ask for a role if you have other plans for your character.

Basically, the castle is the HQ for the main character and his allies. Whatever the story will be, there will need to be some converging point for all the GT characters that have been recruited. The ones who dont have specific roles will just be residents of the HQ...

Also I just ahd this idea for a minigame. Dylflon mentioned to me yesterday that he wanted his character to be the host of Character Battles. Well, I figure that once you recruit him, an arena will be placed in the castle basement. The player can bet money on who he/she thinks will win. If the players prediction is right, they will gain money. If they are wrong, they will lose money. I'll make the matches random, and if I can I'll even get sprites for them.

So anyway... keep the ideas coming.

Pub Owner! Drink the beer my pretties.....DRINK!. But if I don't get the Pub Owner, I can just be a regular person.

Well, I don't want to own a shop. Did Georg Prime own a shop? Noooo. He was too useful in combat to own something important, heheh.

Well, first come, first served.... so you can be Pub Owner.

Crono 08-19-2003 12:21 PM

Okay... I think this will be the basis of the story...

One day, a new member to GT arrives at his newly found home in hopes to live a good life. The GT Empire is composed of four areas: Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and a currently unnamed Unbiased region (any name ideas would help). Although they are considered one country, conflict between the multiple areas has always existed. The new member never really cared, he lived in the peaceful unbiased area. One day though, the evil Phantom Army, sent by the highly feared PC Empire, tries to take over GT. With the multipel areas in conflict it is hard for GT to act as one, so, as the character, you must unite the several areas and form a new Phantom Army resistance. The Castle HQ which I mentioned before will be the main headquarters for the Resistance.

I'd like for many Gters to be in the game, but, there are several positions that will need to be filled:
First of all, the Hero, will be the leader of the new Resistance.
I will be the Hero's second hand man, the War Strategist, meaning I will not participate in any battles but instead plan out the strategies that the Hero's Army so it can defeat the Phantom Army and other purposes.
Rndm_Perfection will be a major General in the Phantom Army, and will be one of the main enemies for most of the game.

So these are the positions I need filled:
Pub Owner (well, that's Jonbo).
Innkeeper
Weapon Shop Owner
Armor Shop Owner
Item Shop Owner
Chef (will be located in the Resistance's restaurant, will provide food that can heal your characters)
Gardener (will grow things like medicines for the army).

Also I need several Generals for the Resistance.

I'll also need people to play roles on the Phantom Army, like Generals and what not. You will need to be an evil character, and possibly killed in the game. (It's just for fun.)

Keep in mind I'm not trying to make this game too serious, it will be something fun.

Give me feedback on this possible story. Also, if there are other positions or roles in the game you think may be good then let me know.

Re: GT RPG

Earlier in this thread, Dyflon gave me permission to be the leader of a rogue Mac underground society which is also fighting to defeat the Phantom Army because we are enemy of the PC Continent. Is this okay with you?

Rndm_Perfection 08-19-2003 12:35 PM

Hmm, what's Phantom got to do with PC anyway? They seem to be butting heads, in my eyes. Isn't Phantom trying to take away the need for PCs? That is... the gaming section of PCs. If anything, I bet the evil Macintosh clan would team with the Phantoms to overtake the PCs. Macs have everything but gaming, and Phantoms mastered gaming.

Just a thought.

well...i have no ideas about a story or anything, but i would like to be someone important and preferably not die :p or if that doesnt work out then the Weapon Shop owner :)

Rndm_Perfection 08-19-2003 02:04 PM

So far, it looks like the story is plotted out thanks to the help of posts and other sources. People should now be thinking about what region they want to be from, and whether they want to be a recruitable fighter... a recruitable shop owner... a villain, or just a random character in a town that can say something funny.

My idea was that the PC people were sending the Phantom to the console realm to get people to play PC games on a console thus spreading it's evil influence.
