At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Lately I've had that feeling like 'I wanna go home to play on my GameCube'. The reason?
The good games. Finally. A lot of games never lived up to the expectation and a lot of A titles disapointed me (Zelda TWW, TimeSplitters 2, PSO). Now I'm playing Eternal Darkness (ok I'm late), F-Zero GX, Tony Hawk 4, a bit of Soul Calibur... And once in a while I try to find another Triforce shard in TWW. I'm finally happy with my Cube, just wanted to let you know. :) |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I've been happy with my cube since the day SMS came out.
|
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I'm loving my PS2 right now. My Cube has been ignored for now.
Two of my friends lent me 2 games. One lent me her copy of Castelvania : Lament of Innocence and the other lent me her copy of Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner. :) |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I love my GC. I only have smash bros and wind waker but i love both games. I don't play that much, because unfortunately i need to pass my classes.
|
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
i liked my 'cube since SSBM and now im playing True Crime: Streets of LA
the game is good but i dnt like the draw distance SSBM RULES!!!!! (and i'll beat anyone who tries to challenge me!!!!!) MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!!!! (Shiek for life!!!!!) |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I havn't been playing NGC much at all lately...
I've been getting a number of games for my PS2 as of late... and everyone's like "Viewtiful Joe get Viewtiful Joe!"... but I have such a huge list of wanted games for PS2, I'd rather tackle that... |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I just got finished with viewtiful joe a few weeks ago, im too lazy to try to beat it on Adult mode(twas hard enough on Kids). I'll pick up Fzero once in awhile, but its come to the point where its hard beyond hard. And I'll still play PRIME from time to time...its just so damn good...easily the best game to come out since OOT.
|
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Oddly enough, I have been getting back into Super Mario Sunshine. I didnt see it before, but now I see that it really is a great game. The old-skool retro levels rule.

Yeah, I stopped playing Wind Waker once I had to find the shards. I'm not clever enough to know how to find them on own. But I've been enjoying my Gamecube since the day it came out with Luigi's Mansion. :)
The last game I played was Viewtiful Joe, I play Smash Bros. regularly with friends. I think I'm going to get Mario Kart despite IGN's unexpected review score. And I'm still looking foward to Pokémon Colusseum. |

What the hell is better? Name one game to come out since OOT that is better than Metroid Prime...there isnt one. |

Some might argue "Ooo Metroid Prime is so polished and detailed and wah wah" who cares? Games are there for entertainment... And Medal of Honor (among others... GTA3 and VC... still probably more) entertained me more than Metroid... |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
i think i spent more time playing steel batalion then i did my cube.
but I do want nintendo to stay in the race because they do make good games. like f-zero that was a ok game not relly great but i never really got into it. |

If I'm not mistaken, that's the comment you were alluding to here by stating Zelda is the best game since Oot only if "you have tunnel vision". Or are you saying that AFTER OoT, you feel Medal of Honor Frontline was one of the best games since OoT? If so, have you played Medal of Honor: Allied Assault at all? -Official Ninja and Writer of [coming soon]... |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Didn't read any posts in this thread but i just wanted to say that i agree with the post title... at the moment im enjoying my gamecube more than i ever have. Im renting games and im playing games all the time. I bought nba live 2003, rented nba live 2004, and right now i have MK : DD
|
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I am also enjoying my 'Cube much more than usuall...
I have a hard time stopping playing Mario Kart Double Dash!!. And after I get everything on MK : DD, Im going to beat Eternel Darkness (finally) and then start playing PSO again. Mmmm...Good games... And I'll be getting Prince of Persia on Christmas. I cant wait. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
As of now F-Zero GX is pumping the blood. :)

Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I FINALLY got the last Triforce shard. Now I wanna kick that stupid Ganon's ass and throw the game in a corner.
Taking pictures for the picto-guy is just too annoying. The most cowardly person in town, WHO IS IT?? :( I've never asked for help in a Zelda game before... :baby: And the round pale object?? Why isn't it the moon??? :mad2: I'm getting MKDD today. And 1080 before the end of the week. :D |

**************SPOILERS****************** Most cowardly guy is in the bar type place that's accessed by the steps. Whenever you break a pot in the bar, this guy quivers in fear, so start breaking pots and you'll see him, then take a shot! As for the pale rounf object, it IS the moon, but you need the colour pictograph for it to work (and it needs to be a full moon!) |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
It really just depends on what kind of gaming experience you're looking for.
I mean, for a long time was just playing the biggest longest games I could get a hold of. But lately I've been hanging out with my friends a lot more and playing a lot more multiplayer games. Mario Party 5 is easily my favorite multiplayer game I've played for a couple of years now. It could be the people I'm playing with, but regardless I'm having a blast. Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is also an incredible game. Lots of fun had by all. I've also been playing tons of DDR lately. My buddy built a homemade arcade style dance pad and we've just been beating the hell out of it (which won't matter because we're going to invest in some Red Octane pads before too long). Aside from new games, though, I've been playing through a lot of old games now as well. I've particularly been playing through the old point & click PC adventures (most of them based on the SCUMM engine: www.scummvm.org ). These include full voiced versions of: Sam & Max: Hit the Road, Maniac Mansion 2: Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Beneath a Steel Sky, and The Dig. So, a lot of variation for me. But my Cube's definately getting a lot of use with Mario Party and Mario Golf (and Rogue Leader now that I've got a surround sound system. |

Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
ShadowFox... that had to be one of the most confusing posts I have ever seen from you.
Neither said any game is better than OoT, Jason just said that Metroid is the best game since OoT, and DsH said it isn't. Saying somthing is the best thing since somthing doesn't mean it's better than the first item, it just means it's better than anything to come out between the time the first game was released and now. Key line: better than anything to come out between the time the first game was released and now DsH isn't saying MoH is the best, he's simply saying that Metriod Prime isn't the best to be released in that time period according to his own personal tastes. IMO Metriod isn't even in the top 50 released. :D I enjoyed Madden 98-2004 more than Metriod... as for "objective" game quality, I think FFX, Metal Gear Solid 2, Gran Turismo 3, Zelda:WW, Halo, GTA 3, and GTA:VC (among many others) are better than Metriod. So yes, I agree with the Dead man, it is all opinion. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Hm.... well, sport games can be very fun, but I don't consider them super games.
Perhaps that's biased, but I just need a story, adventure and emotions in a game. Sure, we had a lot of fun with Super Smash Bros, but I don't think it's better than let's say Eternal Darkness. Even though I've played SSB A LOT MORE. :) Damn it, the guy in the bar is the most cowardly? And you need the colour pictobox for the moon?? I beated it yesterday night, the endig didn't make up for the rest of the game. Crappy story. Even though it was hard enough. |

But your right about sports games. They get boring really fast to me. Unless of course you're playing with friends. Then they're awesome. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I think Sports games and fighting games can't be really listed as great games either... but either way I enjoyed it more than Metriod ;)
this year in My EA sports titles I got 8 days in... or 192 hours :p... and I haven't even got completly into NBA Live for NCAA March Madness yet. Also, I don't even feel like I have played half the time I played last year. Games that rely solely on Replay value and not on there "story" or variety of gameplay never get counted at the greats... some do, like Tetris, but most don't. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Well I gotta admit, I want to know what happens after TWW. The sequel better tell that. :) And give some more land... no crappy sea.
I enjoyed the last minutes of the game, where you're in Hyrule, more than all the rest of the game together... well, almost. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
It's weird nothing against the Cube or anythng, I still enjoy it a ton, but I went home for ThanksGiving last week and played it like once, then I left it home for the next 3 weeks to prepare for finals and stuff, and I realy don't seem to miss it much yet. As for my hall mates... guess next time I'll ask their permission to leave it back
|
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I'm currently playing Viewtiful Joe, I'm at the last boss, haven't beat him yet. (adult mode of course) and I can't wait to start a new game after on the harder mode.
I also pop in Metroid once in while, I'm also almost at the end on hard. FZero GX, how can you get bored of that. Rogue Squadron 3, the Coop mode is just too sweet. And some NHL2K3 here and there. |

I agree with you though, although I thought the water was fun and different for the first play through, afterwards I just felt like it should be left to a one-time thing... Or maybe done again in..... 20 years :sneaky: But I really feel that these consoles (or at least the upcoming ones) have the power to both a vast ocean and a big continent (plus smaller islands) in one game... WW just didn't for storyline purposes (unless they wanted to add another 20 hours onto the game)... |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
It would be great if the map would stay the same (both the size and the land-moutains) but that the water filling hyrule, would be removed. That would be one big world to explore.
|
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Yeah hehe that would be awesome! :D Just gimme my horse and you won't hear me for the next 3 weeks.
I was really disapointed by the dungeons. They were boring and too few. Also the items were terrible. The rope thing is a fiasco. And BTW why did Link have to leave his granny and sis behind?? Did Nintendo try to put some emotion into the game at the last moment? Oh yeah, what DeatsHand says is right, it would be cool if the boat thing would just be a small part of the game. Only 1/5 or something. :D 2nd edit: Oh yeah, I finally completed the 3 tests for the picto-dude. And now he wants me to find some creature that produces light, found in the Forest Haven! :mad2: WHAT IS IT I ASKS THEM!!!! WE DOESN'T FIND IT!!! I want that color camera... :baby: Worst Zelda game EVER. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Right. The Wind Waker sequel is supposed to use the same graphical engine, but it's supposed to also be a lot more land based than Wind Waker (although it's supposed to have some sea based stuff). Which for me is appreciated; I mean, I enjoyed the water as much as the next guy, but for a new Zelda I definately think a different approach will be necessary.

Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Think about how hype it would have been if they had made a zelda game out of the Spaceworld 2k or whatever year it was tech demo? Think about how many older people prolly would have gone out and baught the cube and enjoyed it. The next one should definatley somewhat resemble that tech demo in some way and should be a little but more mature :)...
NOt that i didnt love TWW |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
The mainstream/casual gamer would drool and buy a 'Cube if a Zelda game on the 'Cube looked like the tech demo. And since WW looked like a kids game, it was widely overlooked because of its style and its gameplay wasn't brought into the buying equation.
That wasn't a major rant, but it is the truth if you think about it. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
I think it's a pretty sure deal that there will be a mature Zelda. The real question is how long will we have to wait for it. This next Zelda is definately Cel-Shaded, so it's not that one. And if Nintendo decides to make a third Zelda on the Cube, it'll likely also be based on the Cel-Shaded engine (simply because of time; the WW engine is more complete than the engine used in the SW2k video).
So in all reality, if we see a mature Zelda, it's more likely that it will be on the next console than on Gamecube. Nintendo will reevaluate their position in the console market before that next console releases, so it will really depend on what market they're hoping to hit. A huge add campaign about "You've been waiting for it, and now Nintendo delivers: A mature and realistic Zelda game" would be quite effective if they decide that is where they want to base their marketing. However, the issue I see with Nintendo is that they aren't as sales driven as most of their competitors. If they don't think they can provide the gameplay experience that they're aiming for because of a particular aspect of development, they're going to change it whether or not it affects sales. |
Re: At the moment I'm enjoying my Cube more than ever
Nintendo and marketing = disaster.
They depend too much on their loyal fans. How was I supposed to know that F-Zero, 1080 and others were released?? There were times that they wouldn't release a game until it was perfect. Now they release 80% games just to get some sales... at least that's how it seams. |
