Gamma release notes

These are not the final graphics/styles. Those will be released with the gold version. Gamma was intended to prepare the boards for the final release. There are a few items not functioning like the drop-down menus, but I'll be working on those this weekend.

Re: Gamma release notes

Looks good. Everything is a little more compressed so I don't have to scroll sideways ever.

Re: Gamma release notes

Im not too crazy about the compressed look...everything else looks okay tho.

Re: Gamma release notes

It just appears that the font for the post and usernames are too large.

Love the winter theme. :snowman:

Re: Gamma release notes

First little "error" I found was the '-->' which is at the top of the screen above the logo.

As for the new compressed look, I'm not a really big fan of it, hopefully there is a way we can make it look like it used to (last release, anyway). If not, I can get over it. Its just a matter of preference really, not much I can't live with.

Just glad everything is back up.

Re: Gamma release notes

Yeah, the font size for the user names is a bit big, I also noticed that my rank title is incorrectly spelled. It's "Extraordinaire"

I also use the 'mark all posts read' button whenever I come to GT but I don't see that button anywhere now.

GameKinG 12-06-2003 04:42 PM

Re: Gamma release notes

I dont like the font size of usernames either.

ZebraRampage 12-06-2003 05:18 PM

Re: Gamma release notes

I don't like how compressed it is. I go to another forum that has the same changes, and they have a few other color schemes, and you can make the board wider...I wish we had that, but we don't. You also can't see who's online either.

Style isn't too bad. Color choices would kick ass. And I agree that the font size on usernames is a little big and I'm not a big fan of the compressed look either

A lot of things still have to be sorted out. Don't worry.

I'm not getting the snowflakes anymore. It was working just a bit ago. "error on page" in the status bar.

I'm cross.

Re: Gamma release notes

The snowflakes have been taken out for the time being. Although they are still on the entrance page.

No, I was talking about the attachment I posted...thats what everybody was getting who were using IE...the ugly one...mozilla was getting the good one...but its all better now.

Re: Gamma release notes

Ok, everything should be working now. This is the style we'll probably stay with for a while until we can make a custom GT one.

If you run into any problems please post them here.

Hey Bond, I like the forum title at the top. Change is good, and this is good change. And I'm glad that the snow is back, it's fun to look at.

Is there a plugin I can get for Mozilla Firebird that makes the snowflakes appear?

Bond 12-06-2003 10:15 PM

Re: Gamma release notes

There probably is some way to make it work. None that I know of currently though.

Looks better now...still kind of sucks having to go back to the main screen, scroll to the bottom and hit mark all read. I liked just clicking on mark all read at the top

You don't have to go to the main page. You can scroll to the top of any page and click the 'Quick Links'' button and a drop down menu will come up and there's a 'Mark All Forums Read' option that you just click.

Re: Gamma release notes

Looks really nice.. I'm proud the VB team actually made something default look so good. =D

Bond, the snowflakes are getting really annoying now... My post reply screen won't load as quick as the others, and my typing is lagged when I type in the box. Bleugh. It's nice and all, but it's annoying.

Oh, and try making the logo fit into the style like they did in the default.. you know, where it's just on the top left part of the style. Switch back to default style template for that and just change the actual image on the FTP. The "folder" look to the logo would make it look better.

Yes, I know. But I wanted to get something up quick that we could use for the time being. I might do that later today...

I wholeheartedly agree, Dyne.

I use Mozilla Firebird, so I don't get the snowflakes, but I switched back to IE [just] to see what the fuss was about. It looks really nice, but you know what, I just don't think its worth adding lag and causing a few problems here and there for snowflakes.

Just my two cents.

Vampyr 12-07-2003 10:57 AM

Re: Gamma release notes

I love the new VB3 Gamma. Its awesome.

When we eventually get custom color schemes, it will be truly perfect.

And Im using Firebird, so I dont have to worry about all this lag you speak of. But I can open up IE anytime I want to look at it, which is nice.

Neo 12-07-2003 02:09 PM

Re: Gamma release notes

We're going to make a blue/white color scheme as the default. Eventually we'll roll out an alternate style with a much darker look. Users will be able to select which one they wish to view.

I like the design but there is one problem that i can think of everyone has bluenames the people in the FFIX clan are no longer that special

but other then that I like it

Re: Gamma release notes

Im glad the snowflakes seem to be gone...because when they were on my CPU usage jumped from 60-90, while under normal internet use its at like 2 or 0. And it was really noticable while running programs in the backgroud.
