Here comes the NHL Playoffs!
 

So, it's time to discuss the most underappreciated sport there is--Hockey.



It looks like a helluva playoffs is awaiting us, especially in the East where the top 6 teams are seperated by 6 points. In the West, the Red Wings look good as always, the Avs are in a funk but are still strong and there's the Sharks, Canucks, and Stars right behind them, along with the surprising 6-8 teams of Nashville, Calgary and Los Angeles.

So what are you seeing to happen as we move towards the playoffs?

My gut feeling (and my hope) would be a 7-game victory for the Avs over the Lightning. :D

Well, my Flyers will probably drop in the second round as usual. It would be a total shock to me if they got any further...That's about all I can have an opinion on. Oh yeah, I don't want New Jersey anywhere near the title either. Besides the Flyers, I'll be rooting for Nashville and Tampa to do well..

Yeah..I don't expect the Flyers to go very far either. I forget whether Boston is in the playoff picture, because I haven't looked at the standings recently. If they are, I'd root for them.

We can only hope for a Wings vs Avs Confrence finals in the west..... please please PLEASE! thoes are always the most exciting series.

Also, you all better be playing my Official 2004 NHL playoff game once playoffs start this year..... It could very well be my last year for this tradition :p

It will be a Detroit vs. Toronto final. Leafs will win the cup this year.

That reminds me. The series between the Leafs and the Flyers last year was great. I'm not saying this because the Flyers won, I'm saying it because it was an intense matchup. There was a lot of hitting, and great movement of the puck. It was just a great series. I haven't really seen a lot of hockey this year, though I'll be expecting a good playoff year.

No, I heard about it though. The only picture I saw was of Steve Moore laying face down in a puddle of his own blood. Now I want to see a video of it...yes, I'm a sicky. :)

That was totally gutless. I lost so much respect for Bertuzzi after what he did last night... even though my opinion means nothing, lol.

Got to see a vid clip i downloaded of what happened with bertuzzi. and bertuzzi is a cowardly piece of ****.
he better get a BIG pentalty for it. at the very least he should be out for the remainder of the season and all of the playoffs. A writer at ESPN.com is saying at least a 1 year suspension should be set for him.

Sports nation has a nice term for him... 'gutless'

going to to seek revenge is one thing. but when your so much of a ***** that you do it behind the guys back, thats just horrible.

IMO, Bertuzzi should be out as long as his 'victem' is out. if Moore is out for a year. Bertuzzi should be, If Moore's career is ended....... As should Bertuzzi's.

I pretty much agree. He should definitely be out for the season, playoffs included. Probably much more beyond that...but, isn't hockey supposed to shut down after this year? At least that's all I hear about.

P.S: LET'S GO FLYERS. I'm feeling a little better about them. They're still doing alright without Primeau, Roenick, Desjardin, Pitkanen, and Sedienberg. They've been torched by injuries and still have an outside chance to win the conference. If they get everyone back and clicking once again, they could make a run.

Bertuzzi should be booted for the rest of the regular season, playoffs, and be nailed with a SERIOUS fine that will make him think twice about even LOOKING at someone else the wrong way. That videoclip makes me sick...

But it's been 10 straight years in the playoffs for the Flyers...they have to do it one of these times right?

21 years for four teams...so technically you could say that it's been 84 seasons for the city, I guess really only 27 years for the Flyers..we're getting there.

Whats all this Flyers stuff goin on? I dont wanna get a strong cult of people hateing me here, but im a Die-Hard Canucks fan, yes Bertuzzi punched moore, so what, all he did is get penalty's anyways. The Canucks are one of the most underrated and overlooked teams in the league, So enough of this Philadelphia is gonna win the cup, Cuz the Canucks are bringin it home!!!

i know im a LITTLE late for replying for this but it pisses me off that this was taken as severely as it was. Yes the shot was cheap, but Berts out for a good year and a half, and moore will be back in time for the playoffs...Hardly fair, and i saw that last night Marty Turco high sticked a player in the face, blatently... and only got 4 games, and hes a repeat offender. It was just blown up so much from the media, and because it was Bertuzzi. I am though a big fan of his, and his hitting steve morre doesnt change that, hes still a good hockey player, stupid but good

First of all, don't triple post. You could have easily made all of your points in one post.

Secondly...Yes, Bertuzzi is still a great hockey player, but he made a really bad mistake, so he's paying for it...It's all about the severity of the injury basically. Of course the intent wasn't to break the guy's neck, but that's what happened so he has to pay for it big time.

Moore is not going to be back for the playoffs, no chance in hell, they still don't know whether he'll be able to play hockey again...Not sure where you heard he'd be back, but it isn't happening. Here's the most recent ESPN article..http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1766245 He just got out of the hospital today and has to wear a neck brace for 6-12 weeks, I don't believe that you can play hockey in a neck brace.

Plus, I dunno, I love the Flyers. Honestly, I don't think they'll win (Goaltending is the issue once again...), but I always hope that they do, that's what being a fan is about.

Wow......lol......actually i would rather die than hear Don Cherry talk about how the Leafs won the cup....and sadly i can tell that either the Bolts or the Av's are gonna win it, based on skill(for the Bolts) and payroll(for the Av's)
