Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
First of all...San Andreas is not a replica of San Francisco. It's not even a city.
It's a state. Quote:
from a message board user, (apparently from a new 10 page feature in the newest Game Informer magazine): You play as Carl Johnson, whos an African American. There are actual mountains in the game, and yes you can drive up/around them. You can ride bikes and you'll have to repeatedly press the X button to keep going. Big graphical leap. Better lighting and real-time reflections on cars, windows and mirrors. You can build and run a Casino in Las Venturra. Game takes place in the early 1990's. The game's storyline is going to have a much stronger focus, even when not playing in missions. Its also going to be a bit more dramatic and serious than the previous two storys. You can now rob homes, but you have to plan it out properly or you'll die. You can have a group of people with you, helping you perform drive-bys (a four-man drive-by is now possible). Swimming IS finally included! Theres a bunch of new skills to learn that you earn over time, some even from side-quests and minigames. You have to eat to keep proper stanima, but if you eat too much and don't exercise enough, you'll become fat, run slow, and it will make some missions impossible to complete. You have to go to the gym and work off your fat (you'll also be called a "fat bastard" by other people in the game). Improved targeting system, but Rockstar won't say whats been changed, they said that you should think of Manhunt's gunplay. Improved hand-to-hand combat. Rag-doll physics when you shoot people. thank you, Rockstar... |

Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
Are they putting too much emphasis on staying alive in the game? I dont like the idea of being forced to have to eat and excersize regularly in the game just so that my char. can keep going with missions and whatnot.
But other then that, looks good. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
mm I dunno about the eating thing... I guess it could be nifty...
I like that they've made the change from the mafia and such to GANGSTAZZZZ.... And hopefully it's more than just a cosmetic change (meaning it doesn't feel like the mafia with black ghetto doodz)... And I love the sound of the mountains, countryside, and 3 seperate cities, but how is the scale going to work out? Will mountains seem like mountains? How long will it take to drive through the country to another city? Swimming yay, bikes yay... I wonder what kind of songs from the 90s the game will include... And the new abilities to start a gang, run a casino, etc sound awesomely cool... AWESOMELY COOL THE WHOLE GAME SOUNDS AWESOMELY COOL I want it now... If this is infact true :sneaky: |

My god. I'm so excited.
How are they going to top themselves now? |

Seriously though, this sounds fan-freaking-tastic. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
...ok...and who said they needed bycicles and swimming?!?!?!ME!!.....eating sounds nifty too i do wholeheartedly agree..
I like how they are trying to make it more real, where you can break-and-enter/eat/ride bikes and swim(finally)... And the game sounds massive...if its not being lied to us all..so if this one is so good....why wasnt Vice City nearly as good as this will be? Release date? |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
I beleive it comes out in mid-October.

I'll embrace eating and staying fit.
|
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
Can you do pedal by bike shootings? Then pedal away into the distance?....And how is this game for realism?...like bullethole wise, (ex:In Driv3r every bullet hole appears on the car) is it like that in this one?
I think the eating/staying healthy/gang/swimming/gambling additions are awesome!! |

Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
This game sounds amazing. It seems like they've added enough features for this to not be the same kind of dissapointment that occured from GTA 3 to Vice City for me. I'm excited. :)

Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
Those screens look awesome, but I'm afraid they may be hyping features up more than they should...
I loved VC, but before the game's release, they made indoor enviornments and a number of other things sound a lot better than they were... House break-ins? Are you actually going to have to sneak around, break into the house, look for valuables, etc? Or is it gonna be a thing where you activate something to break into a house, you dissapear for a short while, then you come back out and the cops are after you? Because obviously not every house is going to have an interior all programmed out for it... Like in VC they said YOU CAN ROB STORES!!! Which sounds a lot better than "Point your gun at a clerk and money appears"... |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
lemme guess...Jonbo and GameMaster dont like eating well or exercising in real life either? :p

Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
Well, I got really bored with GTA:VC.. but this one looks like a definite rent and a possible buy if they do it right. The game sounds massive. I can't wait for more details.
|
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
whoa.....these games are really starting to push teh PS2 limit.....thinking of kill zone and stuff, its going to be hard to create more complex games than these new titles.....hmm, judging by how far this is from VC, it might be a possibility that VC will appear on PSP....
|
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
eh, this does not look cool to me, too much of the same thing, except that they are getting to complicated, you have to eat and crap... that's retarded. Do you have to go to the bathroom, and wash your laundry too? I'm pissed that it isn't multiplayer or online. just more of the same stupid crap. next...

And yeah, it sounds exactly like more of the same... |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO

[Sarcasm] Cuz you could totally ride bikes and swim in the other games. Man this is an EXACT friggin copy!! I mean, this game isnt going to be good at all. From what i can tell it will suck the most out of any game this year. I mean come on, GTA, thats been done before. [/End Sarcasm] |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
OMG! You can ride bikes! That adds so much more!
I don't know. I think there's probably going to be more new stuff than what Crash seems to think, but I don't think that new stuff is going to be quite as neat as you guys are thinking. Why would you want to ride a bicycle? I mean, it adds somewhat more realism, I guess, but why take a pedal bike when you can take a motorcycle? Burglarizing homes sounds cool, but only if you actually get to break in and ransack the dressers and stuff. You know, stake out the house and check when the people who live there are gone and such. Eating and excercising just sounds tedious. I don't want to have to stop beating some old lady just because my guy's energy bar is low. Having to take a break and eat a burger is stupid. And come on, I bet most of the people who are going to play this game are in desperate need of excercising themselves. Do they do it? No. How can video game developers possibly think the majority of people are going to respond well to being forced to virtually excercise? However, the the different cities (and having countryside in between each) is interesting. A lot of road to have a high speed chase... Although they'd have to be careful about how much land is in between each city. Too much, and it'll get boring travelling between cities. Too little, and you might as well not have it at all. Oh well. I'm probably not going to play it anyway; not for any long periods of time. I might check it out, but I've gotten bored with the two previous GTA games pretty quickly. *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
I have a feeling the eating thing would be as tedious as people think...
Eating will probably be as easy as picking up a gun (meaning run into a shop and either pick up the big glowing foodstuff, or running onto the pink circle and select it from a menu of sorts, like in VC)... And excersizing will basically mean instead of driving everywhere, travel on foot once in awhile... Which, I dunno about you guys, but I already do in GTA games... I don't think rockstar would stick something in that would just be completely annoying... But I guess we'll have to wait and see... As for traveling between cities... The way I see it, there should be a loooot of countryside in between cities... But for those who want to just get right to the action of the next city, you could hop onto a train or plane that would instantly transport you there... I personally don't think having huge gaps between cities would be a bad thing, I loves drivin'... And there could be farms and other various settlements out there... And with so much open space, there would be plenty of room for hard to find easter eggs and bonuses :sneaky: |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
In my opinion the game looks great. I like true to life gameplay.
I highly doubt any of you pick up icons in the middle of the street to regain energy. it sounds awesome to stop at your local Grand Theftonalds and get a Big macadoozy. Riding a bike seems mediocre, unless you want to do garbage can drops and stuff like in Friday..... piss off some locals and ****. The gang recruiting and what not seems cool, but I really want a game as in depth as this to go 2 play co-op, so another person can aim and **** and do the shooting. Have split screen showing where 2 player is, and organize meetings and stuff. Swimming is better... because I highly doubt anyone would die immediately from entering waters like in the older GTA's.......... San Andreas sounds like improvement, and the LIFE aspect of the game, eating, exercising is a + on my scale. I kind of gets tedious running around looking for health pickups. The closest GTA has ever gotten to realism in terms of life is the Hospital.... but thats well earned money wasted! Robbery!! the pure aspect of criminology!!! I love that aspect...if we see in the gameplay actual robbery then thats also a plus. but if we seen a black screen and then 5 seconds later a message, "You have robbed the house and left with $500" that will just suck I'm excited about this game, but right now it's not on my Pre-Order list.... I'll look for it in my retailers when it comes out. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
A train or plane between cities would be great... But I would hope that in between cities it would be like a 4 or 5 minute drive.. That would be neato. And maybe some cows or horses that you can run over on the way, haha.

Did anyone save the scans I linked to? The site took them down :(

Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
I just cant wait for the time i get to try to pedal away from the police on my pimped out bycicle. Country side sounds awesome!!! I also agree that thee should be a train or something, as there was a Skytrain( i dont know what they are called in the US) in GTA3. Except you would be able to walk around inside, and stuff.
And imagine how laggy it would be on co-op...sometimes it lags up on 1 player because there is too much goin on...imagine more frequent lagg ups. I personally dont want to see a co-op one. BUT i would want to see a solely internet one. Where you have about 10-15 people in a map, then you could have gang wars and stuff. |

Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
so because of the size of the game, it is going to REQUIRE the harddrive?
|
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
Quote:
Harddrive.........that sounds expensive..... |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
i think looking at the way the game is going to be played.. you can bank it'll require the harddrive.... but .... the mystery.......
|
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
Harddrive? How expensive is that again? This is about to go off my most wanted list...
:( |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
Now now, don't jump to conclusions of it using the hard drive... Although I had never thought of that possibility before, and now that I think of it it kinda sounds like you'd need it...
I wonder how many hard drives it could push if it requires one :p And yeah, I forgot all about trains that just go around one city and you can walk around in (and hijack and control like in GTA1)... But there should also be instant transport modes of transportation from one city to another for people too lazy to travel through the (what I hope to be) large countryside... |
Re: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas...INFO
If it requries the HD, count me out. I would rather spend money on beer than an HD.
