MLB Playoffs 2004.
Well, its now offical...the Playoffs are finally upon us. Without further delay, I give you the 2004 playoff schedule:
(all times EST) National League: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals Game 1: Tuesday, Oct 5th. 1:00PM. ESPN Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves Game 1: Wensday, Oct 6th 1:00PM ESPN American League Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees Game 1: Tuesday, Oct 5th 8:00PM FOX Boston Red Sox vs. Anaheim Angels Game 1: Tuesday, Oct 5th 4:00PM ESPN So there you have it. Cant say im really all that shocked by any of it. Astros made one helluva run late to sneak in, thats most shocking to me considering how much they sucked there for most of the season. Cubs chocked as always, but that was to be expected. A lot of the Cub fans were really running their mouths throughout most of the season, ive been in more than one arguement with more than one person on this board, you know who you are. Simple fact of the matter is, exactly what ive been saying since Day 1 of this season: No matter how good the Cubs look on paper, theyre still the Cubs. Simple as that. Im looking foward to some good playoff action. |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Im going for the Dodgers.....just so they can shake all the bad baseball jokes about them.
I would go for Boston...but they do have that whole curse of the bambino thing goin for them.....they're f*****. Its probably the freakiest sports "curse" I have ever heard about. But the question remains, If that douche didnt grab that ball....would they have won? Who knows. Its the curse I say. But I really wish Boston didnt cut down the Green Monster a while ago...(I forget how many years) but now its not so high. It used to be a big deal when a ball went over the monster....now its like.....not a monster..... |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Go Boston.
Mariners and Boston are my two fav teams after Toronto. |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
The Philadelphia Phillies fired Larry Bowa, and that's basically all of the baseball business that I care about. I'm glad...
Anyway, I'd like Boston to win, just so everyone shuts up about them... |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
I've got to go for my Boys in Blue.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Go Dodgers!

Pfffffft. Tomorrow should be a good game. Too bad I'll be at school/work and wont see any of it. |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Cards pick up the first one. One step closer in the hunt for a pennant!

I think thats slightly funny, how they call it a "pennant"....considering I have a pennant of every baseball team. Ok....its not really funny at all.....barely amusing at most.. :( |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
yea, great game today...5 home runs by the Cardinals, awsome. Sorry Dogers fans, you guys dont have a chance.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Go Boston! One of my four favorite teams!
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Post another win for the mighty Cards. It's off to LA now for the clincher.
Same score this time. A little rougher getting there, but the same outcome none-the-less. |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Game 3 tonight at 6:30 CT.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Hehe......what happened guys? :D

Anyways, the Dogers wont win tomorrow. And even if they somehow do, theres no way they would win game 5 in St. Louis. |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Cardinals are in the NLCS! I thought it was very classy of the Dogers to come out on the field after the game and congradulate the cardinals. That wouldve never happened if it was Cubs-Cardinals or Astros-Cardinals, because those teams hate each other.

Good job for the Cards......sadly, I must say, I am not following baseball anymore now that the season is over and my teams are out, but hows Boston doin? ;) |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Boston won the first round and are going to be playing the Yankees
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Yep, that's a winner!
Despite the hiccup last night started by an absolutely crappy call by the umps, we got right back on track. Well played Dodgers. |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
I hope Boston Crushes the Yankees! I have nothing against the Yankee Players, but you can just try to but the championship.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Red Sox are getting smoked 6-0 right now, and Mussina is pitching a perfect game so far. Doesn't look good in game 1.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
DAMN YOU BAMBINO!!!!!
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
8-5 Yankees right now...Go Red Sox!
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
OMG it's 8-7! I gave up on them...but they've got a shot...
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.

We won, we won, Oh Yeah! *breaks into celebration dance with the cat* |

Cardinals are up 2-0 on Houston, definatley sounds like a plan to me fufubot. Should be interesting tomorrow, Suppan Vs. Clemens.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Well, it was a good game for the Astros.
Darn. We'll see how tomorrow goes. |

Yea, I wouldnt worry yet...as long as the Cards pick up at least 1 during these 3 in houston they should be alright... |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Yeah, that's what I figured.
I'm a newcomer to baseball viewing, so I still over react a little. But I'm not too worried. |
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
RED SOX BABY!!!
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Damn the Yankees! DAMN THEM TO HAAAYLLEEE!
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
YES!!!! The Red Sox pulled through in the end! They Probably wont win the series though.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Oh man, another insane, awesome intense game tonight. When Varitek was in there and couldn't catch the ball I thought the Sox were screwed, but man, they pulled it out. There were a ton of kids watching this game here which is rare because we are known as an art school....We don't even have competitive athletics here. Anyway, it was great.

Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
Man Huston won with a home run in the 9th. That puts the Astros 1 game ahead. I heard that the pitcher that let in the winning run was so mad he punched a wall in the dug out and broke 3 bones in his hands.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
No, that was from Sunday's game. Tavarez was pissed after his "difficult" time in the game which ended up with Houston winning 6-5. The seventh inning consisted of Beltran getting a home run off of a pitch that "would have hit the plate." Tavarez punched a phone and broke his ring and pinky finger of his left hand. He should be pitching in St. Louis.
|
Re: MLB Playoffs 2004.
OMG!!! Boston won again!!! The game was crazy, there were some calls that the Yankees didnt like, for example: ARod hit ball out of someones glove when they tried to tag him out, then the umpire called Arod out. The fans got mad and threw things onto the field so they had to bring out police in riot gear for an inning.
