Kick Ass Music Video Thread

EDIT: http://www.mtv.com/music/video/ and www.youtube.com to get all your music video goodness!

I'm so sick of shitty music videos. I can't stand rap videos with all the bling and retarded hand motions and I can't stand all the shitty nu rock videos (Nickleback and their clones) where they cut to a slow motion clip of the drummer or singer like they are all hardcore.

So this is the kick ass music video thread. Post music videos that are creative, have good artistic direction, or just do something better than the usual MTV bullshit. I've noticed that music videos were better back in the day so scan those childhood memories!

A lot of videos have been pulled from YOUTUBE, but MTV's website has a decent archive. Anyway, I'll start:

Personally I like this video, interesting animation / art style not a very old song I know but I think this fits well into your category :D

Good call with Bloodhound Gang The Bad Touch by the way ;) Not seen that in a while.

I concur, so many music videos are effectively the same, both examples you describe irritate me no end.

Oh and KG, couple of your videos aren't working for me, region locked.

Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy

Not strictly a music video, infact it was originally part of an art installation, but its Aphex twin and chris cunningham working together (like the video above)

Much love for Tools videos

I love that Aphex Twin one, C.H. A true classic.

As for mine, most of these by Spike Jonze are great.

These by Michel Gondry are as well...didn't want to embed all of them..

I can't embed because it's been removes, but it's the video for the song "Wrong" by Depeche Mode.

I'm assuming the MTV videos are region locked but the youtube ones play? I'll try to stick with just Youtube videos, and I'll post links to videos where embedding is disabled.

Anyway, big thumbs up for those Tool videos. I am a huugggeee Tool fan and was planning on posting their videos but you beat me to it. :p

I also love the Aphex Twin. The Windowlicker video is awesome too.

Ok I would not necesseraly call this a 'kick ass' video but it is a kick ass song and that freaky little alien kids face has stuck in my mind for a long time. Now it can get stuck in yours ;)

There are a lot of videos for this next tune, I like this one. Perhaps someone can find a better video, I dont know.

And this video even won some awards ;)

Now it's time for the hippy. This is a mad video.

That's not System of a Down. It's The Rabbit Joint.

Fat Boy Slim was/is awesome. Weapon Of Choice has a great clip with Christopher Walken. :D

And those guys in your last video are Dutch! They later became The Party Animals and made some more fun music.

So kick ass music videos... How would Nelly Furtado and The Bloodhound Gang sound together??

Edit: Should we all learn the little dance at the end of The Bad Touch?

AAAHHH!!! I forgot how amazing that video + song is! Apparently the Avalanches are finally releasing a new album after 9 years...Man, the first one is so good though. Anyway, that really brought me back to high school. So good.

I numbered your quote to make it clear what I was answering and to make it easier for me to remember what I was going to say of course

1. I have often wondered about this. I never really knew where it came from, there are video's of SOAD performing it in concert on you tube, did they steal it?
2. See response to Teuthida's quote.
3. I didn't know that. You learn something new every day. Even on GT.
4. Fantastic. Great song. I am bias though because I like her singing voice.
5. :lolz:

Yeah man, Christopher Walken dancing. I always liked the bit where he jumps over the balcony, it's unexpected and well executed.

And on the Fatboy Slim note, here's more
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DajTbUhRykU
But unfortunatly it's embedding disabled and I could not find another one :(
Great video though, I find it inspiring, I had the song on my mp3 player when I went to see the Darwin Exhibit at London's Natural History Musem.

EDIT: I Just Found This, excuse the ad:

Found some more videos I like here. These are actual music videos rather than home made ones this time too.

She is MY Bitch!

EDIT: These next two I am adding purely for my own benefit really, makes it easier to get a whole load of songs I like from one place more quickly. Hence I am doing this 24 hours after my original post and am not making a new one so as not to post cram ;) I have had quite a lot to drink and have smoked a lot of weed, it is 3am GMT... forgive my ramblings...
