We'll move this into the Movie Forums later, but with the year all but done, what were some of your favorite and least favorite movies of 2010?

Think my top 3 would be Toy Story 3, Inception and Kick-Ass

Rounding out the Top 5 would be The Social Network and something else.

Bottom movie would be Knight and Day, talk about action movie blue balls.

I can't really remember what movies I have, and haven't seen.

I still haven't seen Inception. I know everything that happens in it, because I read the plot for it, but I'd still like to see it. I also haven't seen Toy Story 3 yet.

I (and the group of friends I was with) really, really enjoyed Tron.

I also really liked Shutter Island (despite knowing the end before seeing the movie), I thought it was an entertaining ride. And I really liked the end of it. I got shivers.

I was not so much a fan of Scott Pilgrim, or Kick-Ass. They seemed really childish to me at a lot of points, and I just didn't connect with either of them. I mean, they both had moments that made me laugh, but I wasn't entertained through most of either of them.

My top 5 are like:

Scott Pilgrim
Kick-ass
Inception
Tron
True Grit

To be honest not sure true grit belongs here. I really liked the first part of the movie, but it almost felt like they stopped trying during the second half of the movie, then they were like "Oh ok" for the end. I have mixed feelings about it. But the first half of the film was some of the most brilliant acting and writing I've seen in a long time. It was so quick and witty. I thoroughly enjoyed.

The Good:

How To Train Your Dragon - Nothing overly original, but the movie had great animation and it tied together in such a perfect way that the movie became fresh and exciting. The riding sequences blew the crap out of Avatar too.

Youth in Revolt - Year's weakest sleeper comedy, this was a strangely awesome movie in my opinion. Actually, all things considered, this was one of Michael Cera's best roles that is not Arrested Development.

The Crazies - Proof that zombie cinema is still thriving and awesome. This one MAY have been more of an execution piece, but it worked and had some original moments. It was a worthy remake kinda like Dawn of the Dead 2004.

Kick-Ass - Thoroughly satisfying, ultra-violent, maybe the next best thing to Sin City which is in my top 3 best comic book movies EVAR!

Get Him to the Greek - This was FUCKING HILARIOUS and took a turn for the dark and twisted with the threesome scene. Russell Brand is a mad mad genius and I think this was the year's sleeper comedy hit.

Inception - Overrated but just so right. The great cast and the over-the-top music score definitely helped.

Piranha 3D - The only movie I saw in 3D this year and probably the only one worth seeing in 3D. Screw this 3D craze. I hate 3D. But when there are boobs, piranhas, 3D penises, and Doc Brown cameos, what is there to complain about? Highly recommended gross out fun.

Easy A - Second comedy winner of the year. Not quite as good as Get Him to the Greek, but still pretty awesome. And Emma Stone <3.

The Social Network - Self-explanatory. I really liked this movie. This was a 4-star film.

Cyrus - A comedy-drama with dark undertones. Great acting, this film is another hugely underrated comedy in a year filled with great underrated comedies. If you did not get a chance to see this one I recommend it.

I still need to see The King's Speech, The Fighter, True Grit, Black Swan, and 127 Hours. All those films seem like contenders for "best of."

Reflecting on my list of great films, I'd say that my top two recommendations for this year are The Social Network which is current, ties into Time's man of the year, and was just a great movie in every regard. Secondly I would say How To Train Your Dragon which I think is one of the best animated films to come out in a while.

The Bad:

Salt - Horribly bland, unoriginal, not memorable in the least bit, and the protagonist defies physics several times which is just annoying.

Alice in Wonderland - Just watch the original. For a new experience take with LSD/Acid/Shrooms/Etc.

The Back-up Plan - I always thought the back-up plan was abortion. This movie might have been tolerable had it not duped to every cliche known to Hollywood.

Re: Movie of 2010 Thread

I got a free ticket through Kelloggs cornflakes. Today was the last day it could be used, so my sisters were going to watch Entangled today.
Because it was a 3D movie, I looked up the Kelloggs site to see if they would have to pay extra. Then I found the message that the expiry date ticket isn't December 31 (as it says on the ticket), but December 15.

So now I'm going to call them, make a fuzz and get a new free ticket. :p

Edit: Wow, I didn't even need to make a fuzz about it! Before I could explain the problem, she said I can return the ticket for a new (and way more usable) one! :)

Greenberg
How To Train Your Dragon
Kick-Ass
Iron Man 2
Splice
Toy Story 3
Thirst
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Inception
Scott Pilgrim
Ip Man (though think I saw in 2009)
Red
I Love You Phillip Morris
Summer Wars

Direct to Video:
Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths

Every single one of those was enjoyable on some level other than Greenberg. Would have stopped watching it if was alone.

True Grit was really good and Little Fockers was not. So if they made True Fockers you might have a movie that weighs in at 2 stars.
