From the land of What If: A console built by Apple
Alright. Imagine Apple decides that they want to get into the console market. What do you think their console would be/play/operate/look like?
Personally, if Apple built a console, the coolest thing I think they could do is provide a place to connect an iPod. That way, you could easily take music from your iPod to use for custom soundtracks. Also, the iPod would be great for game saves. Anywhere you go, you have you music and you game saves too. Convenient. |
Re: From the land of What If: A console built by Apple
The iGame, a console built by Apple would be pretty cool, I think. Its design would match the style of its computers and iPods; simple and elegant.
Following the Apple reputation, the console would likely be more expensive than its competitors. For that extra money you'd be getting a much more polished and constructed product though. It would definitley have online playability which would also connect to the iTunes Music store and the service would most likely be integrated with the .Mac service. Where you get your special Apple e-mail address and I.D., storage space, etc... Like Jeepnut mentioned, Apple would integrate their iPods for music options and also possibly game data storage. I think they'd also integrate their iSight cameras and iChat software for voice and video capabilities. The Apple iGame would also feature a built in DVD burner so you could burn your favorite video game moments to DVD and then pop it into your Mac computer to make cool video game iMovies and iPhoto albums. You could also use Apple's GarageBand to compose your video game music scores for those intense moments in racing, fighting, and shooting. Once you beat a game, you'd have the option to use Apple's Keynote to deliver a presentation on your enjoyment and adventure in the game. Using Apple's iCal software, you and your friends could make appointments over the internet and schedule video game get togethers. Then using Apple's iSync software, you could upload your top scores and video game schedules to your Bluetooth enabled cell phone and PDA. iGame. Think different. |
Re: From the land of What If: A console built by Apple
well, my response is not really as thought out as others have mentioned. but my first thought when jeepnut mentioned this was:
when you're done with a game, you drag it over to the trash can... it sounded funnier last night |
Re: From the land of What If: A console built by Apple
Apple will mimic Nintendo in it's entirety, except it will add more connectivity AND more Internet capabilities.
And it will be so lacking in actual library, photoshop will be a killer app. Oh, I went there. I went there. |
Re: From the land of What If: A console built by Apple
I also immediately thought of Nintendo here. The iGame would have a few innovative features that nobody uses. Therefore a few good games and that's it. Basicly.

Re: From the land of What If: A console built by Apple
It would be torture for Apple considering they have close to no games for their OS... everything in terms of games is still on Windows.
but, not to say that Apple wouldn't make an outstanding system with amazing features and an awesome graphics chip.... However without a library...... |

Still.... Mac OS X is a hard system to write for in terms of gaming. And since MICROSOFT is already in the biz, Apple would have a hard time gaining support.

Re: From the land of What If: A console built by Apple
